Rating: Summary: A GREAT book! Review: This book was invaluable to me when I was trying to reach my goal of being a stay-at-home mom!Cheryl's use of humour and honesty touched my soul. It inspired and encouraged me. She made me believe that I could do it too! If it weren't for this book, I'd still be stuck in the rat race with my daughter being raised by strangers! If you are thinking of becoming a SAHM, or you have recently come "home" you must read this book!
Rating: Summary: Great, easy read Review: This was an easy-to-read book with the pros and cons of being a stay at home mom. It talked about one woman's journey to arrive at that position. It seemed to celebrate stay-at-home moms, more than help readers make a decision, but that was fine by me. It did raise real issues, like when your husband comes home and says, "What have you done all day?" when you've been chasing a toddler around , but haven't gotten to the dishes. I loved the scripture references. I think even non-Christians would find them to be valuable.
Rating: Summary: a christian look at staying at home Review: What can I say? I bought this book looking for helpful information on my options to stay at home with my new son. What I got was a christian woman's story on her journey of staying at home. I didn't feel her story was helpful in my decision. I didn't feel inspired or get the "I can do this" attitude. I didn't like the references on praying and scriptures in the bible. I was simply disappointed with my purchase and wish I would've checked the library before I spent my money.
Rating: Summary: A lifeline for working moms, regardless of their faith Review: Women who are tired of working two full-time jobs (career and parenting) but feel there's no way out will find a way out through this highly practical book. The first argument most working mothers offer is, "I can't afford to quit my job." Gochnauer offers the most creative financial solutions I've seen anywhere on how to cut costs in order to come home full-time. As her book clearly explains, she trimmed over $1,000 from her monthly budget--over and above childcare costs! The latter part of the book provides nitty-gritty guidance for those crucial transition months following the jump from work to home. Gochnauer's Christianity shows in her writing, just as any writer's world view will be evident in his or her words. But no where does she assert that the burgeoning stay-at-home mom movement is only for women of her particular faith. If reading anything that contradicts your beliefs offends you, skip this book. If you want the most current, practical, and creative and help out there to help you come home to your little ones, get this book.
