Summary: A MUST for every pagan parent!
Review: Starhawk, et al., have assembled a wonderful source book for pagan parents of all traditions. As a priestess who was having some trouble finding a starting point to begin educating my two young children in our faith, I found the book jam-packed with ideas: fun craft projects, kitchen magic, stories to read to younger kids.... I can't say enough about this book & have recommended it to several friends. Blessed Be!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Helpful, yet dry
Review: The book tried very hard to include everything & in doing so, lost the track. It became very dry reading & lacked the special sabbat meals that are a part of every celebration. It does have lots of helpful information crammed in with the stories.

Summary: A Must Have For All
Review: The Stories alone make this book a must have. Everything else is bonus. The descriptions of each of the Sabats and Everyday life has been useful to every one in our family from our 18 month old to any of our friends who may have questions about our beliefs. The children love helping with some of the recipes, and we try to incorporate at least one recipe each Sabat. It's a must have for anyone, with or without children, beginner or elder. Our copy has been used so many times that we are about to need a new copy.

Summary: from someone that had a religion pushed on her
Review: the thing i like most about this book is that they keep on stressing that never force your child to join in a ritual, etc. they have very good crafts, good bedtime stories, they cover all the sabbats, rites of passage, the elements, the sun and the moon, this is an excellent book to teach any young or not so young person goddess traditions

Summary: IT IS STUPENDOUS!!!!!!
Review: There are chapters on the 8 holidays, the moon cycle, the elements a life passages. Each one has ritual elements, craft projects, songs, and coolest of all stories. It is particularly nice because, although there is a small section of what I call Paganism 101, it is mostly a huge resource book. It's also "non-sectarian" enough that you could give it to anyone open minded enough.

Run, don't walk, to your nearest book source and scrounge it. Give it as a gift to parents everywhere.

Ok, can you tell I liked it???

Summary: A Book for you and your Family
Review: There are many books on the "Craft" and there is an explosion of information happening in the world today.

The heart of any belief system is what do you desire to pass along to the next generation - your children. What values are important to you? What stories, legends and tales? This book is a great resource for any family that desires to pass along positive values, living life empowered not in fear, and developing an understanding of the life cycles we all experience regardless of religious biases.

For non-pagans - this would be a good book for you to review so that you have an understanding of another path of beliefs of which it is highly probable your own traditions are deeply rooted in past history. You may even find what your heart has been looking for all your life without detracting from what you already have experienced. This is a beautiful work of love, light, traditions, history and open possibilities without limitations. For me, it is a book for anyone and everyone.

I think many people get confused about Goddess traditions because they bring a linear thought process of judgement and fundementalism "right vs wrong", and they do not understand the freedom of exploring an active relationship with deity. This isn't a "bible" type of thing. It is a book and reference for families.

For those searching for a family resource - filled with stories, songs, a flavor of histories and traditions from around the world - this is a unique one of kind treasure. It is a book that "opens" possibilities it doesn't dictate doctrines.

There is a section of the book dealing with honoring "rites of passage" with ideas and inspiration for creating rituals for your children in season with their life changes and development. In my opinion this is an especially important part of this writing.

Kudos to the author. You can help your family live in the seasons of life with this fun, enjoyable and easy to read book.

- David, Male, age 40, brought up in all paths non-goddess based, thank God(dess) for those who have kept alive the traditions and old ways for those of us who have been searching for love, peace and joy...and the inner truth that is found when we start living and enjoying life...today.

- P.S. There is a music CD also available - a great companion that brings the spirit of the book to life.

Summary: A Treasure
Review: This book could also be called "How to raise a Pagan child and have a great time doing it!" It is full of ideas on getting your children involved in the Sabbats, legends to read, rites of passage rituals..etc.! Any parent who is just entering the Pagan path themselves, and wants to take their children along with them on their spiritual jouney, MUST have this book by their side!

Summary: Excellent Resource
Review: This book has stories, songs, recipies, and crafts for the Pagan family. It is fun and I have been able to incorporate many of its ideas in a ritual context.

Summary: something to work from
Review: This book is a little more feminist than I like and pretty specific to wiccan (rather than ecclectic pagan) beliefs than I like. But, it is a great place to start from. I make a few minor changes to the stories and activities before I share them with my child which is far less time consuming than starting from scratch. My child is starting to outgrow it though, so I hope we will soon see more resources for pagan parents, especially for parents of pre-teens.
