Summary: I can't belive how good it is!
Review: I loved this book. As a mother of 2 young childeren and a practitioner of a Goddess based religion I was thriled with all the helpful ideas in this book. I think this book is a must have for all people who want ideas on how to share thier beliefs with thier children. The only drawback is finding enough time to do it all!

Summary: Yes It has great stories, but......
Review: I read the book and refer to it on occasion but found several things about the entire structure of the book lacking.

1)Starhawk does not have any children, she lives in a "communal" home with other peoples children and other adults so she is giving advice from an alien perspective as far "real" family life is concerned.

2)They (the several different women who wrote the book credited to Starhwak for her name)seemed to try and include so many different cultural viewpoints that the reader isn't sure what tradition they are talking about at any given time.

3)The craft projects are quite lacking in information as well as imagination.

4)There are not enough "family" recipes for celebrations, as most families celebrations are centered around a feast of some sort there should have been at least one chapter on holiday dinners for the family.

Summary: One of the best Pagan books for families...
Review: I thought this book contained a good variety of craft ideas for kids, and my two year old loves hearing the stories. It has a lot of stories that teach about spirituality in a way that children can understand and grasp the concepts. Yes, it is true that Starhawk has never given birth to children, but she did help raise other children who she thinks of as her own, and she also has stepchildren. This book is not about advise on parenting anyway, it is more of a work/storybook.
I highly recommend this book to parents. It gave me plenty of ideas for things to do with my son on our holidays.

Summary: One of the Best Pagan Family books I have ever read
Review: I was very impressed with the collection of stories, songs, chants, activites, crafts, and recipies that the authors compiled here in this book. If you are Pagan and have children, this is a must. It is also useful for coven activities as well. I plan on adapting some of the stories for skits in my coven's rituals. Thanks and hats off to the authors!

Summary: A *great* help for raising children w/earth consciousness
Review: I've read a lot of books on raising children, and lots of books on Pagan Parenting, but this is the most thorough, well-thought-out, and gorgeous presentation ever! My children are proud to be Pagan, and this book will help me keep it that way. Even my mother was able to read and understand more about our faith from the clear, readable explanations.

Summary: Wonderful Addition to Our Book Shelf
Review: I, as well as my nine year old Pagan Daughter have found this book to be a treasured addition to our Pagan library. I read the stories to my younger son and I find this book in different places all over the house, because my daughter is dragging it around with her, actually reading it. She has started her own Book Of Shadows and refers to this book often. Although we are more Gardarian in our Pratice and this book is a bit more Native, she enjoys the well written and comprehensive text. A wonderful reference book for the Pagan Child!

Summary: The Only Book You Need!
Review: If you only buy one book on Paganism/Wicca, buy this book. You DO NOT need to have children to read this book. I have friends who have purchased this book who do not have children & they love this book & highly recommend it to others who don't have children or whose children are grown. This book has the best, most beautiful descriptions of the God and Goddess that I have ever read. Each Sabbat is detailed, along with tons of great ideas. Of all the books I have bought, this is the only one that I reach for time & time again. I highly recommend this book to anyone - someone who is just beginning their Pagan path, someone who is already established, or someone who is just wanting to learn more about what we Pagans do! This book is most definitely a must have!

Summary: Not for mixed-gender or ecclectic families.
Review: If you're womyn-only Wiccan, this book may work just fine for you. For families with broader views, it's extremely insulting. There are some ideas, crafts, and projects worth mining as long as you can trim off the knee-jerk sexism and fundamentalist philosophy. Before purchasing this book, PLEASE review it...

Summary: Circle Round has something for everyone
Review: My parents are Protestant, my in-laws are Episcopalian, my children have been raised Pagan, and my teenage niece and nephew, whom we are fostering, come from a Muslim household. Diane, Starhawk and I wrote Circle Round with this kind of family diversity in mind. We have explained all the basic tenets and holidays of Goddess tradition in language that is easily accessible for people of all faiths, as well as the children in our lives. The feedback I have gotten about the book from my own family members has been heartening, to say the least, and has opened the way for many fruitful conversations about our faith.

In writing the book, the three of us have also sought to emphasize the points of commonality among Goddess traditions, which span a wide range of traditional and eclectic spiritual paths. If you are searching for rituals, activities, stories and songs to form new traditions for your family, you will find abundant material here. If you already share seasonal celebrations with your children, you can pick and choose from among our many ideas one or two things that might enhance your observances.

In creating Circle Round, we amassed a very long recommended reading list for children and adults, which was in the end too long to be included in the book. To make sure that this information got out, we have created a website where all of our resources are listed by subject, and when possible linked to this website for convenient ordering. We also have included several "outtakes," articles that we love and want to share that didn't make the final cut. We hope you will make good use of these resources we have collected for you, and share the bounty of your search with your friends and family.

Best wishes for all your families from Starhawk, Diane Baker, and myself.

Summary: Good for kids ... & adults just learning the craft!
Review: Owning the book as an adult I get to reprogram my "inner child" in a childs understanding. Nature abhores a vaccum and tring to undo my conditioning from childhood was impossiable without giving my inner child a new vision. This book is an excellent guide for initiates or adding depth to your spritual travels.
