Rating: Summary: An Accurate Description of Public Education Review: "Cloning of the American Mind: Eradicating Morality through Education" is one of the best books I have ever read. The book discusses, in detail, the dark side of public education and the role of psychiatry and psychology have had in perverting education.Having worked for about 3 years as a substitute teacher, in two very different school systems, I witnessed firsthand some of what the book discusses. To an extent, I can also confirm the claims the book makes concerning psychology, as I have an advanced degree in the subject (MA, general psychology). This is definitely a book every parent, teacher, and anyone involved with public education should read.

Rating: Summary: This book is a Scientology Propaganda Piece 100% Review: As a Health Educator with Master's level training, I took an interest in this book. After reading nearly a third (200 pages) or so of the book, I began to realize that this was a propoganda piece by the enemy of free speech known as the Church of Scientology. Ironically, the Church is not a church nor is there ANY science behind any of their malicious claims and attacks. It may be true that there are abuses within psychiatry, medicine or the mental health fields, AS THERE ARE IN EVERY OTHER PROFESSION INCLUDING THE CLERGY. I strongly advise readers not to buy this cleverly crafted collection of half-truths, misinformation and slander. The internet is a great instrument for exposing the lies and fraud from organizations like "The Citizens Commission for Human Rights" which is analogous to Hitler's SS in its assault on psychiatry.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, informative, eye opening Review: As stated above, definitely eye opening. At times sounds conspiritorial.Could OBE be an idea that acquired a life of its own,as Freuds psychoanalytic theory did?
Rating: Summary: How do we win against an out-of-control "illiteracy cartel"? Review: CLONING OF THE AMERICAN MIND focuses on America's "illiteracy cartel" which, the author maintains, is built around an out-of-control psychographic consulting industry. The book details how student and family records have assumed a "commodity" status under new education mandates coupled to rapid advances in "predictive" computer technology. As unethical behavioral scientists team up with school testing companies, computer specialists, and information brokers to produce polls and predict workforce needs, a political weapon is being created that holds a youngster's future employment prospects hostage to a set of quasi-political, psychological criteria . . . while the nation's cognitive and cultural knowledge base is systematically eradicated. Eakman argues that psychology has assumed a messianic political mission. An unwary public and its distracted elected representatives have bought in to the education reform movement's bogus agenda, which is being sold under the dual umbrellas of "mental health" and "testing standards." The book traces the contributions of two distinct factions within the behavioral science community -- one that emerged from the old Hitlerian Right and one on the Marxist Left -- and shows how their two disparate agendas eventually merged for the purpose of introducing psychological screening instruments and experimental therapies into the schools. The author demonstrates how this screening process takes on new meaning as students and their families are unknowingly assessed for supposed "markers" of psychological disorders, the most recent example being to label Attention-Deficit Disorder (ADD) as a "marker" for schizophrenia. The results of the various tests, analyses, and therapies designed to locate ADD students are placed into sophisticated, cross-referenceable electronic transfer systems, such as the SPEEDE/ExPRESS. The book describes how information thus collected can be overlaid with other public and private records, and downloaded at any time by "research groups" and underground information brokers for a small fee. A mathematical, computer model enables experts to predict probable future behavior and reactions. Psychological assessments masquerading as academic tests and curriculum, maintains the author, have frightening implications for both individual privacy and learning. Part IV provides a step-by-step guide on countering psychological manipulation by professional agitators-cum-"facilitators" in small- and large-group settings, and Part V recommends corrective measures that the author believes citizens and government should undertake.
Rating: Summary: More than just about Education Review: I certainly agree with all the above reviews, but wanted to add one more bit of information. One of the best parts of the book is her discussion on how parent/teacher meetings can be manipulated so that parents' concerns that are outside the schools interests are not allowed to have impact in a meeting. Eakman goes point by point on how they do it AND how you can speak so as to not be isolated in a meeting. GREAT stuff for any parent trying to work within the system!

Rating: Summary: Everyone needs to read this book Review: I find this book to be extraordinary and informative for every person no matter his or her age. This book has opened my heart and mind to the probable causation of our kid's dismay and drug addition to antidepressants, and possibly why the majority of our teaching staff in the American school system have been allowed to become legal drug dealers to our children. To the reader I say; what if every parent would themselves become a "Change Agent Extraordinaire", then what possible construed human wind could come alone to up root our children's mind and heart. This book advocates the death of parental ignorance. It seems to be a plea for all of us to awaken to the reality that has happened to our children and many of their unconsious teachers. Provocateurs of Change, as illustrated in this book, do not have to be just the masters of demoniztion techniques; they could become skilled concerned parents. This book gives explicit instructions on how you as a parent or educator can learn and practice the same skills of a covert and overt Provocateur of the new millennium. A person who is able to affect our child from the day their schooling begins. I congratulate the inspired and informed efforts of Ms. Eakman. Blessed is she who assists us with the awakening of our brilliant children. This book outlines how the dark shroud of outbased education possess the mind of all who moves through our present 21-century educational system. It is a book to read, ingest, practice and become skillful from its content. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you...

Rating: Summary: "Cloning of the American Mind-..." Review: I have to highly recommend this book- it has very excellent visual insights into the curriculum contents in public education schools today- & she pretty much shows us alot- also saves us many years of research. Less foot work for parents to do in researching education. Having it at our fingertips and the job done for us. To me- having all this at our fingertips- is a whole lot easier than trying to research it from scratch. This book is important- on insights into Assessment Testing- & Curriculum contents- & it's a vital resource-in educational researching materials. It's a book every parent should invest in a copy in. I keep it right by my computer at all times-as an educational research resource book. I highly recommend all of Beverly Eakman's books. "Cloning of the American Mind- Eradicating Morality Through Education" - "Educating for the New World Order" & "Microchipped- How the Educational Establishment Took Us Beyond Big Brother." Beverly Eakman is a very distinguished author-& has had a past career as an educator, speech writer, technical writer, and researcher. Parents need more people that give their all to help inform the parents in today's world of chaotic education. The only way to right any wrong- is to first read up on- all that's happened so far- to drag education down to the level it has now become. This is a very important book to have. I can't recommend this book enough. I have read all of Beverly's books & each book is EXCELLENT!
