Rating: Summary: Personal Experience Review: I've searched for a long time trying to find a spiritual book that is truly unique. I read Power vs. Force based on a recommendation from one of the Amazon.com book lists. That book laid the foundation for proper appreciation of the Eye of the "I" which is the second book in a yet to be completed trilogy by David Hawkins. I've read the Eye at least five times and I'm for from done yet. I carry it wherever I go. Single sentences and paragraphs can have a life changing effect - much like the Gita. This is a book of immense spiritual power that needs to be savored, absorbed, cherished.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely stunning! Review: If you are looking for a book on spirituality and spiritual development, this is the book to get! After reading this book, the world is no longer the same to me. I am no longer the same! And this I mean in the best way possible. If you are looking for positive energy, hope, peace, and faith in the true spirit of these concepts, this book as well as the book called "The Ever-Transcending Spirit" by Toru Sato will show you a way. If you read until the end, you will realize that the messages are both powerful and very positive in these books. Absolutely stunning!!!
Rating: Summary: The truth Review: If you are searching for the truth, I believe that you will find it in this book. The series begins with Power vs. Force which is essential to read before this. It lays a lot of groundwork so that this book will be more easily understood. Both books are amazing and have helped me see life and this world very differently. I cannot recommend them highly enough for the truth that they bring forth to the reader.
Rating: Summary: A Daring Exploration into the Unknown Review: My only criticism of this book is that is has a strong tendency to be a bit too unnecessarily "intellectual" and "wordy," for someone discussing the simplicity of awareness. He does not have that remarkable clarity of the mystic, Vernon Howard, who taught the exact same thing in a much more beautiful format. It is strange -- Dr. Hawkins says Buddha, Krishna, and Jesus calibrate at 1,000, yet, for all their extraordinary consciousness, they expressed themselves with a beautiful simplicity, not with the verbosity of a scientist. At times, Dr. Hawkins is eloquent, at times you'll be saying, "He could have said that in a much easier manner -- that was unnecessary." With regards solely to content, this book is a perfect five star work. He daringly explores consciousness in a way that most people never will. I agree wholeheartedly with the essential message of this book, but no man is perfect and the levels of consciousness are infinite, thus I say with Emerson that, truly "nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind." Dr. Hawkins has this subtle, "if you don't do this, you're a nutcase," attitude, which is like an anvil he drops on your head. Whereas Vernon Howard simply says that if you don't understand this, or if all you understand is that, then that is fine, Truth will not impose itself on you. Or, if you think I am wrong about something, that is fine too, "Have the courage to make your own mistakes." -- Vernon Howard. "Never take the side of a person, always take the side of rightness." --Vernon Howard [I strongly recommend this man's books.] What makes Dr. Hawkins different from the others? In a sentence, he is by far more thorough and more advanced than most. And one last thing: I noticed there is a tendency among those who lean more towards the madness of the new age movement than towards practical, universal consciousness, to look at those who practice a religion as strange. In reading the reviews for this book and books like this, I see the word "religionist" popping up frequently in a somewhat negative/arrogant manner. Men like Dr. Hawkins and Eckhart Tolle were never like this, Dr. Hawkins has even said that he has worked with many Christian denominations, and I have seen Mr. Tolle share his unconditional love with those who practice religions. I could be projecting my own divided mind, but things like, "I wonder how someone who practices a religion would react to this book?" strike me as nothing more than unconscious attempts to confirm the "self" who has made these statements as someone who "sees the light," compared to religionists "still in the darkness." I'm a practicing Roman Catholic, and I think Dr. Hawkin's book is fine, and I agree with the essential message of the book, although not with every minor detail. Another member of my faith, Blessed Mother Teresa, also appreciated Dr. Hawkin's work. I am just an ignorant man and could very well be wrong about what I believe, but to me, the religion of no-religion is still a religion. The path of no-path is still a path, but nobody will say that any of these could be distortions. Yet, when we have recontextualized to this viewpoint, we see that all labels (i.e., religionist) are rooted in the positionalities of mentation (i.e., a man can practice religion and be conscious at the same time. Who is so blind as to say that Sts. Augustine and Catherine of Siena were unconscious, crazy religionists?). Many free thinkers of the new age and so-called esoteric philosophers only know themselves as "free" relative to those who they see as "enslaved."
Rating: Summary: This book will change you forever Review: Provided you are ready to recive it, and ideally have read "Power vs. Force" beforehad, this book will radically transform you. It changed my life forever. It blows my mind every time I pick it up and read it, which is basically daily. My copy is bent, tattered, underlined, written upon, due to constant referral and reflection. This book is best taken daily; read a paragraph or a sentence, then reflect upon it. Being that it is like "mainlining" spirituality it is practically impossible to take in more that a bit at a time without going into overload. The benifits of carefully reading and reflecting on this book over time *cannot*, i repeat *cannot* be overestimated, cannot even adequately be put into words. This book is a perfect complement to "The Power of Now" as well; I found that working with both books simultaneously has a powerful synergistic effect. Tolle is a bit more gentle and hands-on, while Hawkins hits you (lovingly) with a 60ton anvil-over-the-head of direct spiritual truth.
Rating: Summary: Don't undermind our Mind Review: The capacity for understanding rely's on our ability to comprehend information, via the intellect. Without reserve, I am grateful to have come to Dr. Hawkins teachings with all its brilliance, and I would surely recommend his writings to anyone in the common search for Truth. In reaction to the comments which compared his teachings to the more simply guided teachings of Christ, Buddha, Krishna: let us remind ourselves of the obvious growth we (humans)have endured since the birth of Jesus, our last Avatar. Know from this... Without using logic, it is easy to understand 'why' teachings from 2,000 years ago would be in a 'different'(more 'simple') format. Obviously, the world at that time, would not have been able to comprehend Teachings with their intellect being less evolved. Also, we could be grateful for the intense descriptiveness of Hawkin's teachings. The manor in which Hawkins presents the information is Terrific and Perfect for this day in age. It is no wonder he was a trained Psychiatrist in his earthly life. To end, I must say, the level of gratitude I have for his influence on my life as a spirit/(human being), is only partial. Yet apparantly grateful, I know I cannot fully comprehend the tremendous gift it has been, and ever will be, to come into contact with Dr. Hawkins. The thankfullness deserved for this gift is beyond my mind!
Rating: Summary: The best book ever written! (and I read a lot) Review: The Eye of the I is the book of all books. It spoke to my soul like no book/movie ever has. David Hawkins is a true avatar, and you can trust anything he has to say. This masterpiece has changed my view of life, and I will never be the same again- nor would I ever want to be.
Rating: Summary: Buy this book! Review: This book is a brilliant synthesis of spiritual wisdom. One of Dr. Hawkins most useful explanations is the Scale of Knowledge. This powerful tool reveals how spiritual knowledge that may be true on a lower level of the scale, is no longer valid at the higher levels of the scale. I also believe Dr. Hawkins is writing from genuine revelation and insight -- he is not rewriting material he has heard before. It reminds me very much of Vernon Howard's and J. Krishnamurti's books. Dr. Hawkins writes with power. The book is filled with vivid illustrations. If you are a serious spiritual student, don't miss this book! It is a goldmine!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Transformational Read. One of the Best. Review: This book offers a transformation to the receptive reader. The author, who also wrote "Power v. Force"--another incredible book, has a way of bringing to earth many spiritual methodologies. He cuts through the nonessentials and delivers the necessary information. The Power of Now & Stillness Speaks, by Eckarte Tolle, would be good compliments to this book. Also, one of my highest how-to book recommendations, Effortless Wellbeing by Evan Finer, would be a great one to get along with this book. Simply excellent, one-of-a-kind book(s). Highly recommended!!
