Rating: Summary: It should be at least considered by interested women Review: I started in mainstream Craft and then found Dianic Craft, especially through this book. It is the one book that made the most difference in my Craft life, out of them all-- mainstream or Dianic. The best part about it is that it is a book written to be only a starting-point, and makes itself unnecessary once you learn the lessons. But the rituals are generally worth copying and using!I don't agree with the more radical views about history/herstory and do not use all of the ritual texts, but these are the most powerful ritual texts I've ever seen. She's doing something right. It is up to the individual reader to decide which parts to accept and which parts to pass by, but there is probably something of value to all women in the Craft. If I were stuck on a desert island and had only one book on the Craft, this would be it. It is a book to free up the reader to her own creativ- ity and power.
Rating: Summary: subtle antimaleness but good Review: if you can get past the author's antimaleness, than this is an excellent book. it was written for both teachers and students alike. The exercises are wonderful and the writing keeps you interested.
Rating: Summary: A Must Have Review: Shekhinah Mountainwater has given us a true gem with this book. She has clearly walked her path rather than simply done research. This isbyfar one of the most amazing and awe inspiring books I have ever experienced and I use its teachings in my daily life. This book is geared toward women but it may also be usefull for males who are seeking the divine feminine within. I hope this review has helped you to seek out her book. Blessed Be to all! Jet
Rating: Summary: A review of Ariadne's Thread by one of her former students.. Review: Shekhinah Mountainwater is the "real thing!" I was told to contact her if I really wanted to know The Goddess. Those of us who studied with this priestess & goddess woman have seen our lessons in Ariadne's Thread. If you want the truth about witchcraft, herstory, and a feminist Dianic philosophy, PLEASE go to your bookstore and purchase this book. Blessed Be! A Devoted former student.

Rating: Summary: Good Resource, but Outdated Review: Shekhinah's approach to learning witchcraft and practicing ritual is great. Her chapters really hit on the order in which to learn and the discussion questions and projects are fabulous! As a witch and a feminist, I did find that some of her woman-affirming diatribe was terribly outdated and felt disappointed that, often, Shekinah's solution to the feminine being excluded from mythology and historical texts is to rewrite myth instead of doing better research! I think women-only gatherings and magick are something every female witch should experience, but to give the reader the impression that if you're not a lesbian then you can't be a witch is well, just sad. Not to mention, untrue.
Rating: Summary: Breathtaking book! Review: This book blew me away! It helped me find the woman inside who was just screaming to get out! Truly an amazing tribute to Goddess. The poetry is outstanding and the tone is perfect. Bravo, Shekhinah!
Rating: Summary: an excellent beginner's book Review: This book has been on of my overall favorites for Dianic witchcraft and "womyncraft" since 1991. It takes the reader through the very basics of witchcraft and energy work and leads them through ritual, tool, and spell design. Has an overly feminist tone, and a definite lesbian lean to it, but still an excellent book!
Rating: Summary: Creative and Intruiging Exploration of Women's Faith Review: This book has self-confidence just oozing out of it, and the feeling is infectious. Though I didn't agree with all of Mountainwater's conclusions and ideologies, her thoughts and narrative definately made me ponder aspects of female spirituality that I hadn't before. The exercizes are innovating and interesting and I thoroughly enjoyed working my way through this book. I recommend it for anyone intruiged by Goddess oriented spirituality.
Rating: Summary: Splendid Intro to the Craft Review: This book lays a firm foundation. I have several books on the subject. Shekhinah's book is one of the tops as it is perfectly Goddess oriented. This book and The Spiral Dance are my primers. I am glad that I found it.
