Rating: Summary: Powerful read! Review: Have you ever looked at a book, and thought that just because the book looked a little weak, therefore it MUST be weak? I wasn't sure what to think, but I didn't know what was coming were some of the most powerful pages that Ted Dekker wrote while teamed up with Bill Bright. I was really moved by the faith of little Caleb. It also moved me with the story of Jason, and then Leiah, who appears to be scarred for life. This isn't just an action packed thriller, (although it is very much so) but it is a testimony of God's love. If someone gives you the chance to read this book, along with, "A Man Called Blessed", read them. What an awesome witness! Sometimes we don't know what something like this will hold in its pages, but then you read it, and all of a sudden you find yourself not wanting to put it down! This is good stuff with a good message.
Rating: Summary: Touched My Spirit Review: Having just finished BLESSED CHILD, I find myself in a whirlwind of emotion. Though a spiritual person, I found myself touched in unexpected ways and to unexpected awareness. Midway into the novel I realized that Bright and Dekker had written a parable and that I was reading words were obviously inspired beyond the norm. While the plot is fictional, I found the message in BLESSED CHILD clear and personally direct. The plot and dialogue are somewhat weak in spots, but I found myself dismissing these faults as of little consequence. The Joy and Spirit developed in Caleb's character more than made up for any literary inadequacies. Leiah and Jason's characters are more shallowly developed, but as the protagonist is obviously young Caleb, the adults are but background for his story of Love and Belief. Without giving the entire work a complete reading, it would be too easy to dismiss its value. The plot is a good read without the message. Give it a chance. This book was an experience in literature and personal reaction with which I am still dealing.
Rating: Summary: Breathtaking Review: Here is a book every reasonable person should read. It engages the mind as well as it engages the emotions. You may not agree with Dekker and Bright's take on this boy, but you will definately be pulled into an incredible journey with them. Dekker has another winner. His other two, Heaven's Wager and When Heaven Weeps are as good. Worth every cent.
Rating: Summary: Blessed Child Review: I am not even finished with this book, but I feel the passion in which it was written. The passion for the Kingdom of God. Tears came to my eyes and would have fallen unbidden onto my face had I but let them. I have also read Heaven's Wager and When Heaven Weeps. Heaven's Wager runs right beside Blessed Child in my opnion. Ted Dekker and Bill Bright are awesome and inspired authors. I wish everyone could read Blessed Child. I've never been so enamored of a book in my life. Thank you so much for writing this book.
Rating: Summary: Opens eyes! Review: I don't normally read fiction that completely changes the way I view things in my walk with God. Not only is this book a captivating and great read. It also opens your eyes to the possiblities that walking in the kingdom will bring. Reminds us of Gods amazing power, and the reality of who we are supposed to be as Christians. And even if you don't yet believe, this will definitely make you think.

Rating: Summary: Blessed Child Review: I enjoyed the book tremendously!! I recommend this book to everyone. It challenged my Faith!! I find hard to understand why Christian's would want to knock something they really do not understand. First of all, The Holy Spirit does not respond to our whims. The Holy Spirit MUST be treated with reverence. Secondly, the Holy Spirit ONLY moves under the guidance of the Father. I understood what the author's were trying to do. And that was to challenge our Faith in the Lord. Are we like Jason? Get angry when God doesn't answer? Do we allow our anger to rule our Spirits in such a way that we turn away from Him?? The next part of the challenge is to take a real good look inside of ourselves (Ps. 139:23, 24). And the last part of the challenge is as Christian's, do we have that "child-like" FAITH like Caleb?? I hope we all will take an honest look and ask, "Is the Power of God moving in my life"??

Rating: Summary: Decent Religious Fiction Review: I find it hard to criticize a book with a message as pure and revealing as the one in Blessed Child, but it is a major let-down for serious fiction readers. The plot is extremely predictable and you have to read 200 pages to get to any exciting content. I read the book purely for the fact that Bill Bright's name is on the cover, and without that fact it would be a terrible book. It's a good read, but definently not a must-read!
Rating: Summary: Awesome Story. Review: I find it quite amazing that Ted Dekker's first book did not come out until just last year, but already he has three of the best selling Christian novels on the market. Ted is a writing machine, I tell you-- call him the Christian Stephen King, but wait--Ted is better than King. If you haven't read any of his books, you've got to. I mean it, absolutely GOT to. Like "Heaven's Wager" and "When Heaven Weeps," "Blessed Child" is a masterpiece of fiction that will make you cry, laugh, tremble, etc. It just doesn't get any better than this.
