Summary: On my all time favorite list.
Review: Genrally I hate books that attempt to wrap a personal manifesto in a novel format. The Fountainhead, for example, is a great example of how a perhaps decent manifesto makes an utterly horrible and ridiculous novel. But somehow the Story of B is able to craft a fairly engaging story whose suprising plot twists really make the story almost as exciting as the ideas within. Unless you're a real reactionary, I don't think that this book will dissapoint.

Summary: If you read Ishmael you must read this!
Review: This is the followup to Ishmael and if you've read Ishmael, you must continue with this. This is the story of a Laurentain priest who is assigned to investigate a man known only as B, who is spreading the word. The Laurentains have a special mandate: to identify and suppress the Antichrist. The story is fine but is secondary to the message of saving the world. What was revealed in Ishmael is brought into blinding clarity here. We're in big trouble folks. We may not realize it but I can guarantee after reading this you too will realize things must change regarding population growth or we will extinct ourselves. The increasing rates of population doubling over the past 10,000 years stunned me. Please please read this and pass it on to others. This is the most important novel you will read.

Summary: A Book to Turn Everything you Ever Knew Upside Down
Review: This book will do for philosophy and religion, my chosen fields of study, what quantum mechanics did for physics. Like many other readers, this is Quinn's best book, although to call it a novel is misleading (as Quinn himself points out in the introduction); the story is only here insofar as it helps organize Quinn's thoughts into a logical progression and allows the narrator's questions (which will often mirror the readers) to be answered in time.

This book is very thought-provoking; even if you don't agree with what is presented here, it will keep you awake more than one night, mulling over various ideas until the small hours of the morning.

Summary: The last line of this book literally brought me to tears!
Review: I just finished The Story of B yesterday and will be going to buy Ishmael and My Ishmael after work today. At times Quinn can be annoying in his redundance but every word in the book leads to the last line in the book. Those last 3 words are the most prophetic, profound and inspiring words I have ever read!

Summary: The Most Important Book--Ever.
Review: Everyone should read this book, in addition to Ishmael. Importance cannot be described. Just read it.

Summary: My personal favorite!
Review: Of all of Daniel Quinn's books, The Story of B, is my personal favorite. It brings the message out clearly and forcefully and really helps fill in the mosaic begun in Ishmael. Please put this book on your reading list and when you're finished you'll have no doubt in your mind why I am calling this and the rest of Daniel Quinn's books the most important books in the world. Please do the world a favor and read one of Quinn's books as soon as possible.

Summary: The book is fiction but the ideas are real
Review: This book has emense power. It's power lies in it's ability to make one question life's purpose and the lies we've all been taught to live for. This book along with Quinn's other works has changed the way I precieve existance. Read it: Love it or hate it it will change you.

Summary: More than Ishmael
Review: In Ishmael, new ideas were expressed and I assumed that The Story of B would be the same stuff only regurgitated into a different format, so I actually put off reading it for a while. But it actually goes further than Ishmael with a plot that made you hang on enthusiastically.

Summary: The best book I have ever read, period.
Review: I enjoyed THE STORY OF B even more than ISHMAEL, Quinn's previous work. To me the message was obviously almost identical, but I preferred the format Quinn used in THE STORY OF B. I would urge followers of organized religion be it Christianity, Islam, Judaism, etc, to read this book, and read it with an open mind.

I fail to see how anyone can disagree with Quinn on a logical basis. The fact is that our history began millions of years ago, yet our history books focus solely on the last 10,000 years ( a mere blip in our true history.) Quinn also skillfully points out how the agricultural revolution marked the beginning of the "wonderful" civilization we have today. This revolution has led to an population explosion that continues today, suicide, alcoholism, war, famine, and so on. PLEASE READ THIS BOOK IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE!
