Rating: Summary: Unity of prayer, and religions Review: As Redfield himself say, we have to thank Larry Dossey for "his pioneering popularization of the scientific research on prayer and intention", but one thing that I think is still missing is the idea of Unity. The more important thing is to see that all the beliefs ( Buddhism, Judaism, Catholic, Islam, Hinduism ) has the idea of Unity, Yoga means Unity, Religion cames from latin "religare" to "relink" the men to God. The more we know ourselves ( self-knowledge ) , the more we are going to see we made part of this Unity. This is also a mission from SHAMBHALA ... "to link the warriors together"
Rating: Summary: A Fantastic Book! Review: As we move into the next century insightful thinking like, "The Secret of Shambhala" will help us all find our way. This book builds on Mr. Redfield's earlier work, and goes even farther, helping one gain perspective on ideas ranging from prayer to nutrition. Not only does this book present us with some incredibly important ideas, but it does so in a clear and well thought out manner. It's a pleasure to read!I strongly suggest that we all take the time to really ponder the important ideas that are put forth in this book.
Rating: Summary: An Amazing Addition to Mr. Redfield's Series Review: By the end of the first chapter I was overjoyed and excited. Tears were welling in my eyes. Though the initial concept is one I have believed for some time, Mr. Redfield expands and explains it in such a wonderful and fulfilling way. A must read. Even if you didn't like the writing style of the first two, you will love this one. (though I loved them all.)
Rating: Summary: Disappointing and repetitive Review: For anybody who has read the first 2 books in this series, and remembers the content and insights, The Secret of Shambhala has to be disappointing. The main character who risked his life in Peru to discover the first 10 insights apparently has no memory or regard for them. In no way have his experiences, enlightened him or changed him. He ignores or disregards everything from the simple idea of raising his energy field daily, to the messages of coincidence, signals from wildlife and the insights' teachings of how to interact with others. Either the author or his main character had a major lapse in judgement with this book. After the ten insights, it would seem logical that the main character should have evolved at least a little, but in this case has seemingly become even more clueless than before. The writing is basic and repetitive and far from insightful. The idea that people bring harm or illness upon themselves because of their own bad thoughts is horrible. The first 2 books were good, this is not.
Rating: Summary: A bit disappointed Review: From reading "The Tenth Insight" I was very eager to continue the series with "The Secret of Shambhala". I built up an expectation from the prior books that this book would be even better because I thought "The Tenth Insight" was much better than "The Celestine Prophecy". Again Redfield went back to his repetitive writing. If he cut out all the parts he repeated I think the book would be 3/4 the length. I found this book to be mediocre and it does not dwell on the questions we have. I felt that it is was merely a fiction as where I found it, in the fiction section.
Rating: Summary: The human potential is unlimited! Review: I can only concur with the other reviewers
Rating: Summary: Powerful Spritual messages Review: I don't always buy everything that Redfield has to offer. I LOVED the Celestine Prophecy, but didn't care for the Tenth Insight. But this one is a MUST buy, and a MUST read. For anyone out there that is looking for spiritual growth, and ways to enhance or broaden perspectives through life, this is IT. Some of the ideas I have heard before, but I have never absorbed them as completely because it's never been presented in this riveting way. People are offended by the constant use of government as an enemy, but do remember, that this is a fictional book, and the author has an artistic license. Look for the message(s), and you'll be a bigger better more enlightened person.
Rating: Summary: Inspired parable about real love as a prayer field for good Review: I loved it! James Redfield's interesting new novel is a parable about the power of real love. He shows through the book's storyline that our own prayer fields affect everything that happens in our life. Ultimately, he is showing us how Jesus' last commandment that we "love one another," which means our intentions are for the good of others, can solve all of our problems and answer all our questions.
Rating: Summary: A captivating tale with a powerful message Review: I loved this book, even though I wasn't completely hooked until I was halfway through. If the whole world read this book, it would be a transformed place... While the concepts are age-old, the setting of the Tibetan mountains has served me to use the imagery to consciously remember to call in and energize my own prayer-field on a consistent, moment-to-moment basis. Like The Celestine Prophecy, this book is powerful in its ability to remind us all of why we're here and what we can personally do to transform the world. It's time the world learns how to consciously use our God-given gifts of compassion, prayer and connection. May the dakini be with us all!
Rating: Summary: A metaphysical and fun journey into the mystical Review: I read this book as soon as it came out because Redfield's work has really touched my life. When I was first getting acquainted with metaphysics and spirituality, Celestine Prophesy was one of my first reads. This latest edition is a quick read, and yet it's full of good information. It serves to educate people on the problems in Tibet, but Redfield, in his fanciful way, brings new color to age-old yet commonly unknown concepts like Shambalah. I don't believe until now that was part of conventional wisdom. You won't be disappointed reading this one if you enjoyed the Celestine Prophesy. Enjoy! ;)
