Summary: Part of my Christmas Tradition
Review: The Christmas Box touched me deeply when I first read it. 13 years ago, my wife and I lost a child. I have since had three beautiful children and the pain of our loss has receded. It never goes away, but it does lessen as the years pass.Reading The Christmas Box opened the wounds that had scarred over, but in a good way. It reminded me that our son is still, and will always be, a part of our family. It helps me to keep things in their proper perspective. My family is what matters most. Everything else I do should be in support of my ability to care for them. And to share with them, every chance I get. I also read the book, Christmas Voices, as suggested by another Amazon reviewer. It is not nearly the quality of The Christmas Box, though its author attempts to convey a similar message. Thank you Mr. Evans for your beautiful work. I read it every couple of years around the holidays to adjust my perspective on life.

Review: This is a book of loss, love and the relationship between a parent and a child. Perfect for this time of year... reminds you that Christams is not all about "Santa and reindeer", it's about God, love and family. Worth an hour of your time for this quick, but meaningful read.

Review: Mr. Evans has done it again. The Christmas Box was a great story. It gives the reader something to think about while the story is being read about what is truly important and what the first Christmas present was. Think about it and see if you know the answer. Great book. You must read it.

Review: This is the first Richard Evans book I have ever read and was quite pleased with the author's writing skills and the book's intensity. This is a wonderful book about life and love, a common theme throughout the three-book series, of which The Christmas Box is the first story.

Summary: An inspirational classic
Review: I received two Christmas books from friends this year, and both were great. The Christmas Box was inspiring and uplifting, and really kept your interest. I have heard good things about this book, and it met my expectations. The other book I received was Christmas Gifts, Christmas Voices by John Allen. I had not heard about this book, but this too was an inspiring story that left me with a strong feeling of hope.

Summary: Perfect Short Story
Review: This is a great read. Although the theme is Christmas it's a good read any time of year. I finished it in one sitting - not because I intended to but because this book is very small with lots of blank pages between chapters. As skimpy as this book looks on the outside it's even skimpier once you get inside. This is not a complaint - a few well crafted sentences can go a long way as is proven by Evans. This is more like a short story than a novel. The writing is excellent and the story heartwarming. I read the Carousel by Mr Evans first and liked it so much I went back looking for the Christmas Box to see what it was all about. I wasn't disappointed! I'm looking forward to many more great stories by this author.

Review: In this novel, a family of three move into an elderly lady's (Mary) mansion to assist her. A mystery soon unfolds as a series of Christmas boxes are found and opened. What is the history that they hold? Mary's past and present come together in a very unexpected twist. A mystical, sad mystery is found in this short novel (?), while author, Richard Paul Evans, gets a little "heavy" with his message by the end of this book, it never truly takes away from the true message of the season and is good, solid reminder of what holiday means to all of us, whether we care to admit it or not.

Summary: A Really Sweet Christmas Story!
Review: This is a little gem of a Christmas story and is especially touching for those with small children who feel hassled by the hectic pace of life juggling work and kids. This story helps you to remember what is really important - the love between parent and child (and expanding to the larger story of Christmas "God so loved the world that he sent his only son...") and how fleeting childhood is. Not too heavy on the religion, but just enough during this holiday season for me.

Summary: The True Reason for the Season
Review: To solve his problems of low cash flow, Rick and his family take on a caretaker's job in a huge mansion for a elderly widow. It is there in the mansion, through the widow and her Christmas Box, that Rick learns the true "reason for the season" and learns to put family, work and life into perspective and priority. The Christmas Box is a very short and enjoyable, but moving and tear-jerking, read. Excellent read for the holiday season or just about any time.
