Summary: The Master Would Be Proud!
Review: I have read this book and seen the reviews by others and I am very disappointed. We have never recorded our histories, who is to say what is or isn't accurate. My memories tell me that it is close enough to make me feel as if I am on the right path. It has taken me close to 40 years to find my center and the closer I get to Druidism, the better I feel. Thank you Mr. Monroe for your book and suggestions to further my search.

Summary: this is an excellent book
Review: The 21 lessons of Merlyn is an excellent book to read for anyone interested in druidic magick, the arthurian legend, or becoming a practitioner. With this book, I have reached a new level of spirituality and personal growth. I live by this book, people finally get a chance to see how cool Taliesin really is. A great book for anyone wanting to learn more about magick.

Summary: A great place to start.
Review: This book is an intriging one. Many of the lessons it teaches are great and the chants are pretty well done. The author did a nice job in presenting modern day druidism and this is one of the books on druidism that actually kept me awake! Sure, Carr-Gomm's book was resourceful but this book does something to the mind that awakens the druid from within yourself. The lessons it teaches gives you adequate insight into the "Mysterious" (ha ha) world of a druid. I recommend this book to anyone interested in druidism because if you try to read another one do blame me if you find yourself falling asleep after the first page. Believe me because I did.

The Necromancer

P.S. The herbal section can be of help to some though not all because some are to chicken to actually try the remedies for themselves. But the herbal mixtures most if not all will work (I've never gotten a chance to try all,but if you follow the directio! ns with the mistletoe it WILL not kill you).

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Absolutely intriging
Review: A must for all with a bent for the metaphysical. Insightful and entertaining. Strong Jungian influences.

Summary: In A Word....
Review: Absolute junk. Don't waste your money on this one, historically inaccurate (despite what the guy below says), and magically inept. A well-written work of fiction. A better place to start: The World of the Druids by Miranda Green.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Get you facts straight!!!
Review: Now, I wish to settle most of the myth and cirumstance that clouds this book. Many accusations are made, and I will attempt to settle them. 1- "The Book of Pheryllt is a forgery by Mangwyn" This HAS NOT been proven. 2- "Pumpkins were not in Europe at that time" Clearly stated by the author, he says that they used gourds or turnips. 3- "He said women could'nt be druids" He said that the Book of Pheryllt stated that women were not let into certain branches of druidry, and talks frequently of the Sisters of Avalon. 4- "The herbology could kill you" Yes, Mistletoe in very large amounts could kill you, being a narcotic, but nowhere nearly from the doses prescribed. 5- "The tales of Arthur and Merlin are ficticious" Yes, and it was stated in the preface, had you bothered to read it. It is a metaphorical teaching that would not simply state the truths of druidry, but make you discover them for yourselves. Thus not to violate ancient druid custom. This book may or may not be the "real thing", some of the information may vary slightly from other sources, but many truths that reside in other works also lie here, including a great amount of wisdom. No book will be all-truth, but many are contained in this one, for those with the minds to seek them.

Very Congenially,

The Grey Druid

Summary: Not great, but not as bad as some might say...
Review: Although it wasn't entirely accurate, it wasn't horrid. The Book of Pherrylt is a fabrication, yes, and some of the chants may be much more recent than listed, but they are still effective. I don't know about the herb section as that isn't in my realm of expertise, but the ritual was questionable. It shouldn't be listed as authentic Druidism, but as modern magic parts of it aren't bad.

Summary: Don't believe the hype!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review:

How can I explain what a Sham this book is...

O.K. I read this book and while it is well written fiction, thats all that it is.
I am offended by the fact that anyone would publish such a book. Some of the herbal mixtures listed in this book could be fatal if attemped.
Also some of the Ancient chants come from the movie 'excalibur', very ancient indeed.
As if that wasn't bad enough, the atlanteans are pulled into the picture. I wonder why no UFO's came into the picture, perhaps there will be a second book...

This book seems designed to inflate the ego's of the Author and the Readers, possibly to cover up the shortage of true historical information.

It almost seems to me that the author is trying to create an almost Thelemic-druidry, as if trying to come to terms with some sort of psychological distress or inner struggles. Or he is simply trying to cash in on people who are looking to him as a teacher.
Shame on Douglas Monroe...
And shame on llewelyen...
Just because neopagans are a minority religion, doesn't mean that we are uneducated or easlily duped.
I am sorry that I paid for this book, perhaps I can recycle it...

Summary: Wonderfully written book
Review: The book is one of the best books on druidism and Arthurian lore that i have ever had the pleasure of readin.....all who would call themselves druids must read this book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: An entertaining and educational look into Druidism.
Review: This book is a great way to learn more about Druidism without being bored out of your mind. It is however only about what Merlin taught Arthur. Even so it is a wonderful book, and i highly recommend it to any interested in Druidic or Celtic studies.
