Rating: Summary: Conspiracy-Lovers Delight... Review: ... I think stupidity and silliness like "The Protocols ofZion" have made light of how underhanded some people and agendaswill steep to prove a point. The Freemason-Jew conspiracy is afarce. This book is an example of misbegotten fiction aimed at manufacturing a Freemason-Jew conspiracy. It failed then as it does now to prove anything besides odd-ball fiction. Interesting reading for those who have interests in Historical conspiracies. Yet hard to extract any truth from the extremism this book emits. Good information in how conspiracies are formed/manufactured and whom they're pointed at.
Rating: Summary: Exhibit A on the racism that still plagues the 21st century Review: Amazon was right not to bar the book from its inventory and responsible to caveat its decision. Sadly, some readers will ignore the warning(and the critical notes/preface) and take delight in a "corroboration" of a Jewish conspiracy. It is a case study on anti-Judaic paranoia and the prototype for all the vitriolic bile one may still hear, of all places, in the august halls of the United Nations.
Those who will believe this screed are already predisposed to believe the worst about Jews and simply want this to be circulated among those who are somewhat naive to put it mildly, or perhaps only want to feed their irrational hatred with authoritative sounding documentation.
The Protocols have been reprinted many times with glowing modern prefaces by such and such an authority who claims to have independently checked out its outlandish premise.
I first read this book as an appendix to A Warrant for Genocide
which put the book in its proper context. From the editorial material quoted by Amazon, this edition does the same with its
notes and other critical apparautus.
Have we come far enough along from the day when Henry Ford passed the Protocols off as authentic? I only wish this were so. Unfortunately one can still buy editions of this book
published in Damascus, Cairo, Beirut and Baghdad that tout it as the unvarnished truth.
Whatever one may think about Zionism or the situation in the Middle East, this book's premise should have long ago been
eliminated from that issue.
I wish that I didn't have to "rate" the book as the rating system is not really applicable. However, as a critical edition, the book is recommended to those having some background in the subject, or as a casebook in college level courses on modern racism and propoganda.
Rating: Summary: Historically Important Review: As an immensely important "historical" document, that is, a document that seriously affected the way people thought and behaved in the past, the influence of the Protocols cannot be underestimated. Properly contextualized and understood, the work had a great impact on Western thought via its Russian origins, albeit a negative effect in promoting anti-Semitism in a worldwide response to its perceived conspiracy. Such superficial conspiracy theories still surface today, and readers would do well to heed the hard lessons learned from popular and gullible public acceptance of trite theories as versus more realistic analyses of cause/effect capitalistic evolutions, i.e. Hitler's Holocaust.
Rating: Summary: Shows how Evil men use fear for Fear and Genocide Review: I give the book 5 Stars ONLY because I think the book can be an excellent tool to teach what lies are and how evil rulers use such evil garbage and nonsense as a means for power and genocide. While this book The Protocols of Zion is evil there is a book that counters what it says that people should read "Warrant for Genocide: The Myth of the Jewish World Conspiracy and the Protocols of the Elders of Zion" by Norman Rufus Colin Cohn This book is crucial reading for all conspiracy theorists... The majority of people who have heard the stereotypical nonsense and evil lies anti-semtics has fostered, and thanks to a free press here in the United States people... know that Jews are not out to take over the world. Common sense and not hype is what brings people around and every librarian and bookstore dealer I know tells me that the The Protocols of Zion is nonsense. So use the book to teach how evil begins and how we as people should really find out what our elected officials believe because Power often has as a bedmate... Fear which is used to make citizens fear those they either do not know or understand... Don't ban this book use it to educate so that "Never Again" has some meaning. And I am updating this review as of April 2002 and again find great value in the book if people realize what is happening in the middle east has serious connections to the nonsensical propaganda in this "book".
Rating: Summary: Buy it an read it and decide for yourself! Review: I got curious about this book when I heard about in on a radio program. There is such a well-orchestrated attempt to debunk it that could only mean one thing: "There is some through to it". Remember that when this book was written there was no Israel. This book details the Zionist plan to create a country amongst other things. If this was a hoax it is amazing that history has followed its plan. I have nothing against the Jews but I don't believe that they should dictate what we can and cannot read as American citizens. The actions taken to prevent the public from reading it only lend credibility to the contents of this book. Buy it and read it and decide for yourself.
Rating: Summary: coincidence Review: I have only read this book half way some years ago, and though I believe its popularity and survival may have "anti-semitic" roots, I have found it as a terrible coincidence that issues said to be false (from discounters of this book)are still going on today and cannot be denied.
Rating: Summary: An essential read... Review: If one ignores all the extraneous essays and opinions on both sides they will see that for the most part (regardless of whether these "Protocols" are merely a hoax or not) the plans outlined by the Jews have come to fruition. Ranting against Judaism while citing the "Protocols" have only deterred attention from the fact that the simple blueprint has been used and to an extremely successful effect. Henry Ford and Hitler's extremist declamations have served to only defame the significance of this little pamphlet. One should read it and objectively form their own opinion without undue influence from the chest beating Jew or the irrational white supremacist.
Rating: Summary: An Historical Hoax Review: If this book is an historical hoax, then it is the most accurate historical hoax ever written. No other prophetic book in the history of the human race has ever predicted so perfectly and accurately the events that would transpire over the next 100 years. Nostradamus isvague, the bible is vague. The protocols are not vague. That is what is so utterly frightening about this book. It was put together in the late 1800's and then published at the turn of the century. I can understand why they do not want you to read this book because it basically confirms 4,000 years of history. I also understand why it is banned and censored in over 27 first world countries throughout the world. For this book basically reveals the truth, a truth that is labelled anti-semetism. A truth that is called hate. That which opposes the orthodoxy of our time is labelled hatred, but even worse if you read this book you might question a lot of your own basic assumptions. This book lays out the plan to establish a one world government and how a master and slave race will be established. During the communist era in russia individuals possessing the book were put to death for thought crimes against humanity. Powerful stuff. Amazing book. Every intelligent man and women in the world should read this book.
Rating: Summary: The keystone of modern politics. Review: Ignore the editorial from either side of the debate and simply read this book. It forms the keystone of the political arch founded by Platos Republic, Machiavelli and The Communist Manifesto. Whether a forgery or not, this is one of the greatest works of political genious in the history of mankind. In fact it is possibly the most important book ever written. The Communist Manifesto seems like the rantings of a child in comparison. Reading like polemic propoganda it is however plain to the reader that this document has formed the basis of many a political aspiration.
Rating: Summary: The Most Dangerous Lie in History. Review: In "Warrant for a Genocide" Cohn states that the protocols are a creation of the underworld where madman express their ideas, and that sometimes, this ideas arrive to the real world, for the use of the uneducated and ignorant. The problem with the Protocols is that it is looks academic and convincing. The believers attribute it to "Professor Nilus" and say that it is proven by the fact that it fits the world's events. Well, here are a couple of facts that might help disproof these claims: 1. Nilus wasn't a professor. He was a mentaly unstable and probably mentaly ill Russian mystican at the begining of the century, living with his wife and his ex-lover near a monastery in Russia. He only copied the protocoles. 2. The protocoles are based on a couple of books, the main one is a book from the 19th century written against Napoleon III, there is a copy of it in Paris' National Library with marked paragraphs that fit exactly to paragraphs in the protocols. There are even language difference: The copied part are in excellent French, while the rest isn't at all. 3. It was probably created by the Tzarist Secret Police and we know that the copy they created arrived to Nilus' hands. 4. The idea to proof the protocols by examining how they fit the facts is created by Henry Ford, after he crushed into a tree in order to avoid going to court about the protocols. He knew that there is no other way to 'proof' it. By the way, he lost his case and had to apologize. 5. The Protocols were proven as a fraud in numerous trials, those in Swissterland and South-Africa in 1934 are pretty well known. In every case, the supporters of the protocols couldn't proof their claim, and their defense was a mishmash of antisemite propoganda of the worst kind (Race, blood, etc.) I know that those who believe in it won't believe me, they'll say i'm Jewish and hiding the truth. It's a pitty that you do, because you learn nothing, you refuse to learn, you refuse to discuss, because deep in your heart you know that it's not your ratio that agrees with the protocols, it's the hatared in your heart. Perhaps, if you'll examine it, you'll see that it's not the Jews you hate, but yourselves. I think Amazon shouldn't sell this stuff.
