Rating: Summary: A Propaganda book for simple minds Review: Reading through other readers' reviews, I could not believe how simple-minded some people are. Just by reading this book, it should jump in your face the fact that the authors have had absolutely no authority and/or credibility, not that I didn't try to look for, to write or critique Islam or Christianity for that matter. A lot of what they are proposing is directly anti-Christ, international law and humanity. As a Christian, I don't want other people to associate me with people like the authors of this book. It's one thing to disagree with a faith, but it's another thing to bluntly lie and inject hatred into everyone who reads this book while in the same time making money out of it. I honestly think that this book is simply an attempt, like many others, to distort Islam at any cost. As usual, it'll have its excitement to those with simple minds and will go a way soon. As I noticed in other reviews of this book, the good thing is, simple-minded folks will have a book to feel excited about.
Rating: Summary: Fiction, not facts Review: This book is truly preaching to the converted. If you believe anybody with a beard or a weird head-scarf is liable to murder y'all in your sleep, out of sheer religious madness, look no further. You'll be convinced that all your prejudices are well-founded. Hey, just remember there's a reason why it's published as fiction. If, however, you do not believe a specific religion to be at the heart of the world's problems, you probably should look elsewhere for a more balanced read. This book will surely annoy you, as it did me, by its manipulative provocation and one-sidedness. Religion can spur people to atrocities. But that goes for ALL religions.
Rating: Summary: READ IT ! READ IT ! READ IT !!! Review: I wish everyone in the USA could read this book....You need to read this book.....very interesting, very excitingly written. No more head in the sand. Look about you, and know what is coming down. Truth is given out. No hatred, just TRUTH. Get it, and read it ASAP...
Rating: Summary: Required reading for all Americans Review: It's easy to understand why this book is so controversial. I bought it to get a better understanding of Islam. Winn's exhaustive research and fluid writing style provided a no holds barred examination of the origin and beliefs behind the religion of Islam. No sugar coated, "can't we all just get along" conclusion in this book. He goes back to the original history of Mohammed. He doesn't just pull out the sections of the Qu'ran that suggest that it is a "peaceful" religion. Instead he provides the sections that tell the true story of how Muslims are to interact with Christians and Jews. And it's not a pretty story. If you want to get an unpolitically correct explanation of what Islam is all about, read this book!
Rating: Summary: Lean mean TRUTH Review: Seems like some who read this book fell into the same Israeli Palestinian excuse. Every time Islam is revealed that's the only issue they bring to light. As far as acts and facts reveal, where there's terrorism there's usually a link with Islam; why I wondered? that's how I ended up reading this book and many others. Truth or not Islam is highly connected to terrorims and radicalism, this book does not offer any more than that. This book mentions and its being my experience, how badly they want Islam to be the sole religion to follow even though they claim that infidels will never be true muslims. Good eye opener that's how I rate this book
Rating: Summary: Worthless book, not objective or worth the money Review: Just like many people out there, I wanted to read about Islam. Simply put, this book has been a bad choice. The authors did not really sound as though they knew what they were writing about. Their arguments just did not stand up, and in some cases did not even make sense! It seemed that they wanted to talk badly about Islam as a religion no matter how bankrupt their arguments seemed. I wanted to find a book on facts and sadly this is not it.
Rating: Summary: A book based on misrepresentation and an established agenda Review: Studying religions of the book has been my hobby since my teenage years. Based on what I read in this book, I'm confident that the writers did not know their subjects very well, in this case the Quran and the Bible. First off, the moral of this book is basically this, support Israel at any cost and anyone questions their practices is a terrorist! Through out this book, I identified numerous misrepresentations and in many cases out right lies. The book says that the Quranic God and the Biblical God are not the same. However, Jesus, Moses, Adam, Noah, David and others are all mentioned as highly regarded beings in the Quran. The Biblical stories are also found in the Quran. As a matter of fact, the Quran references Jesus more then even the prophet Mohammed. Therefore the question becomes how are they two different Gods? Also, the authors in some cases let their prejudices go out of control when they talked about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as a problem caused by Islam! According to the writers, there's no such thing as Palestine or Palestinians. WOW! Where did that come from? Don't they know that Bible itself calls it Palestine? I think someone just got busted, and it's not the Bible. My advice for the authors is to go and meet more than two million Palestinian refuges, which are housed in no better than tents to this day, since they were literally kicked out of their homes and farms, under the gun, so that new Israeli settlers could conveniently take over. Of course the authors will never call that terrorism. What about the UN DOCUMENTED massacres of 1700 defenseless Palestinians refuges in Sobra and Chatilla camps by Israeli soldiers and their militia engineered by no other than the defense minister at the time. Yes you guessed it, the peace loving Mr. Sharon. Isn't that terrorism...? What about the 7000 defenseless Bosnian Muslims, including women and children, who were slaughtered by the heavily equipped Serbian Christian army from 1993 to 1995. Wasn't that terrorism...? Did Muslims shouted about how violent Christianity was? Of course not. Muslims respect Christianity enough not to confuse it with those who claim they are Christians to cover their human rights violations. By the way, anyone could do his/her own research about these events in the Net. Furthermore, the authors continued to amaze me by claiming that it was not in the Palestinians best interest (remember those are the people the authors denied they existed a minute ago) to be independent for whatever reason. Ok, I don't know about you, but is this book about Islam and how bad it is or is it about Israel's interest and how to protect them even if it means denying the existence of a whole nation? Ok lets move on to my next point which is the authors' own sources. What a lousy source to go to criminals who happen to call them selves Muslims and ask them about Islam. Don't you think this is equivalent to learning about Christianity from Hitler's ideologies and beliefs or maybe those of Timothy McVeigh? After all they called them selves Christians right? The point is the sources of information about Islam in this book, are invalid at best. This book is really about nothing but desperate hate mixed with a strong urge to lie at any cost. It was obvious that the authors knew nothing about Islam, and in many cases even Christianity. Unlike this smelly book, there are many REAL decent and unbiased books that provide a legitimate light into Islam for those who want to truly and objectively learn about it. A book that comes to mind called MUHAMMAD by Karen Armstrong. Finally, if the writers really read the Quran or even skimmed it, they would have found that it talks about forgiveness and mercy far more than any other subject. How could a book like that be all about violence? It's a fact, whether we like it or not, that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the US and indeed in the world. Obviously, there's something to be said about that. All these millions of people can't be attracted to the "violent nature" of Islam as this book claims. One billion and two hundred milion people and growing cannot just be wrong and this book is right. My opinion is that this book is merely a cheap political maneuver than anything else in a time where some people might be looking for answers no matter how ridicules they seem. It's obvious that this book strongly promotes Israeli interests at any cost as we've seen above. It seems to me that objectivity never been intended in this book. It's a lousy book to learn about Islam or about the Middle East conflict for that matter. If you are a reader with preset prejudices about Islam or Muslims with no regard of the truth, then this book is for you.
Rating: Summary: Review Review: An excellent book that is written to educate the reader regarding the nuances of Islam and Christianity under the guise of a fictional account. I found myself reading the book non-stop. This book is at least as captivating as the Tom Clancy books.
Rating: Summary: Clever Disguise Review: I purchased this book with great anticipation that I would learn about Islam and why they hate us. The authors could have told us all they know about that in a few simple pages. Instead they cleverly disguised their own agenda which is preaching the Christian doctrine that one must accept Christ personally and take the Bible literally. There is far more preaching Christ in this book than real facts about Islam. This is NOT an objective work.
Rating: Summary: If you like sexism, jingoism, and typos on every page... Review: ...you'll love this book. If the authors' research on Islam is credible, they've blown the value of that work by surrounding their "expose" with characters that could be created only by bigots: a female U.S. president and Secretary of State who also happen to be cigar-smoking lesbians; a female right-wing CIA agent who also happens to be an Evangelical Christian virgin until her wedding night to an "agnostic" (religious right buzz word for anyone who doesn't buy their tripe) admiral she converts; etc., etc., ad nauseum. And the grammatical and spelling errors are so numerous as to be distracting, even when I really tried to stick to the story. I picked up this book in an effort to educate myself by objectively examining the authors' concepts. But their bigotry and ignorance finally got so smelly I had to put it down halfway through in favor of getting online and doing my own research.
