Summary: charms, spells and formulas
Review: a great little book for reference, for the beginner wiccans with a little experiance in the craft.

Summary: A good introduction to folk magic
Review: Though not the guide to "New Orleans-style Conjure and Hoodoo" it claims to be, this book is, never the less, one of the better books on folk magic in america that's still in print. though i think his other book, _Magical Power of the Saints_ has alot more information on what hoodoo and christian folk magic are really all about, it is, sadly, out of print. Still, _Spells, Charms, and Formulas_ is filled with useful information on sympathetic magic useing "voodoo dolls" and candles and many of the herbal formulas contain the proper magical ingredients (as well as many superfulous ones). The herbs are mostly easy to find, though your local shop likely carries some of them under different names then those used in Louisiana. The biggest disapointment i found was that the incantations and magical rites had been clearly rewritten and "wiccanized." For more authentic chants and verbal charms, the reader should check out the spells in Raymond Buckland's _Practical Candleburning Rituals_ or old classics like _Long Lost Friend_, _Egyptian Secrets of Albertus Magnus_, or _Secrets of the Psalms_. Over all, though, this is a darn good book. Throw out the gardnerian book of shadows, in america, this is REAL witchcraft!

Summary: GREAT BOOK!
Review: So many things that are easily available... So many ways to use them... I could spend years trying these all out and never stop learning. The definitive guide for how to make your own potions, formulas etc.

Buy this book and watch the success of your workings soar.

Summary: Interesting, but not all there
Review: The book contains many ceremonies, which are nice, but does not include theories for much of what is written. If you would just like a book to flip from ceremony to ceremony, this is for you, but for a more comprehensive take on the craft you should probably find something else. The ingredients for the spells are hard to find, and possibly nonexistant, which also makes the book hard to get enthusiastic about. All in all, I was looking for something the book did not have, historic relevance.

Summary: Really good:)
Review: I picked up this book in a small "new age" shop here in Olympia, WA, and I have to say, it's very good. I've been a practioner for a bit over a year now and I've read a LOT of books. Most of them are hard to follow and they expect that the reader already knows how to set up an altar and call quarters and stuff like that. This one is actually understandable and definately shed a lot of light on some of the more complicated things of The Craft. Some of the herbs are difficult to find, but there are always alternatives. I think that most Witches will find this helpful. Oh, it's also interesting to read, it's not boring at all:) Great book! Buy it while it's cheap! ^_^

Summary: Wiccans=bigots
Review: I really enjoyed this book,it was verry useful!!!And for you people who are reading the reviews, and want to get into magick, but are getting scared away by the reall"witches"(said sarcasticly)as they like to be called any way,aka Wiccans(yuck!) The only thing wrong with Wiccans is that they think they know it all, they think there religon is the oldest of all but actualy wicca was created in 1985 by some outof date hippy chick(you can look it up)And it wont come back to you times three, only this would happen if you where doing it for fun.As and Eclectic PAGAN,i support any,and every religon. So this waz a really good book, not alot of spells thou, but stilll i give it 4starz!!peace ! )O(

Summary: I dunno...
Review: I would like to correct the person like at the bottom of the rating list. Yes in Wicca if you do something bad it will come back three fold,it says so in the Rule of Three 'Evermind the rule of three, three times what thou givest returns to thee, this lesson well, thou must learn, Thee only gets, what thou dost earn!" but, it doesnt nessesarily mean that that thing will happen to you.Like If I did a vboodoo doll of someone, something will get me later...but not nessesarily three people with voodoo dolls. It may be a broken leg or a betrayel of a friend. Its all about Karma

Summary: Great way to begin
Review: I found this book to be helpful with regards to incorporating catholisism and magic. True some of the herbs and ingredience needed are difficult to find but for the "True" practitioner nothing is impossible. I recomend this to all those willing to get their feet wet in using magic. The book is easy to understand and follow. I especially loved the prayers to the saints towards the end.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very Cool!
Review: When I read this book I was ammediately caught up in Witchcraft! I must addmit, though, that some of the herbs were hard to find.
