Rating: Summary: useless Review: Yo, Hate to be negative, but the information in this book is nearly all useless. It tends to be set in a medeivil time period, and all of its revipes, etc. are made to be used in such a time.
Rating: Summary: A Great Book Review: I am a Wiccan and a Witch, and I think this book is good for both Wiccans and non-Wiccan Witches. It has usefull information on gris-gris bags, doll magick, etc. It also has great recepies for incenses powders, and oils for every purpose. The only chapter that was useless was chapter 10 named "Lagniappe". That chapter was only useful for Catholics. All in all, this is a great book that has spells for healing and protection, it also includes spells that I can't use, like spells to control people, and love spells. This is a great book for Wiccans and non-Wiccan Witches alike.
Rating: Summary: A Non-Wicca Book Review: This book is excellent if your not a Wiccan, it includes many spells, doll magick, and even how to make your own oils. I found this book very helpful before I decided to become a Wiccan, then I couldn't use it much. So if your Wiccan I recommend that you don't but if your not it's a great book to read.
Rating: Summary: Enough Wiccan sniveling Review: This book is CLEARLY NOT WICCAN, if you read it, you would know. This is a fab book! He covers all the basics in a clear and concise manner, This is also not a book of Voudou (as a religion, not a system of magic) this is new orleans voodoo at it's best. If you are scared off by the religious overtones of voodoo, and the "rule of 3" makes you want to pee yourself laughing. I suggest you pick up this book. But please, do not confuse Hoodoo with Voudou, and if you pick up this book thinking it will teach you about voudou you will be disappointed. Once again, a truly wonderful read.
Rating: Summary: Extremely helpful Review: It may not be Voodoo but Hoodoo is just as good. Real American folk magick found within these pages. What I found the most helpful was tht it helped me to learn how to think magick by studying the examples given. I liked what Mr. Malbrough has said, to personalize your spells so that they can work better for you. I highly recommend this book
Rating: Summary: this is not Vodou, Review: this book is for any magician no matter their religious practice, and i think this is a great little spell book which does contain many formulas for things like incense, washes, oils, and powders , and teaches how to make gris gris bags, and use dolls in magic . but this is not Vodou, Vodou is a practice that deals with spirits called loas, loas are the spiritual force in Vodou they are the workers behind Vodou magick but this doesn't involve the loa's so it is NOT Vodou
Rating: Summary: get your money's worth with charms spells and formulas Review: i bought this book while i was out with some friends , this wonderful book is worth every penny you spend on it, contains recipies to make your own incense, lamps, baths ,oils, make your own gris gris bags use dolls in magic . i personally love this book
Rating: Summary: NO FLUFFY , PHONY WICCANS ALLOWED ! Review: This book does provide the recipes for some of the most used oils, and incenses in Witchcraft. You will find the recipes for: Van Van Oil, 4 Thieves Vinegar, and Zodiac Oil very useful. It also gives the step by step directions for creating Voo Doo dolls without someone breathing down your neck and THREATENING you with the so called "rule of 3". There is also a great section on Lamp Magick. With a little food coloring, lamp oil, and the appropriate herbs you can manifest your desires. As you know, one of the main-stays of Voo Doo is "Washes", e.g. floor washes. The book provides a number of these washes for your use. It is just a great book, and worth is weight in gold. And what Voo Doo book would be complete without Psalms Magick. This is just a great book which I think you will find very useful. Its worth its weight in gold. And being originally from Louisiana, I find this book very refreshing for it is REAL Witchcraft. Lagniappe: (Louisiana slang for "something extra.")
Rating: Summary: Good book. Right next to Gerina Dunwich's Wicca Spellbook. Review: I like this book. Though, some of the things in it are clearly against the Wiccan rede (ie. spells to force someone to fall in love with you, or spells to control people), there are still some great spells for money and luck. It teaches how to make gris gris bags, oils, washes etc. Ray Malbrough and I exchanged some e-mail a while back, because he was interested in the court battle that the church that I belong to (Iron Oak) went through. Spells, Charms, and Formulas is a good book for Wiccans and non-Wiccans alike.
Rating: Summary: If you are wiccan, beware that Malbrough is not Review: This book does what it claims to by providing recipes and guides for charms, spells, and formulas. However, most of the recipes included within are in direct opposition to basic 'an it harm none' rule of Wicca. I'm not saying that this is intended to be a book geared towards Wiccans-in fact, Malbrough's other book is about invoking the saints, so I would venture to guess that he is not Wiccan at all. But if YOU are Wiccan, as I am, you will probably find little in this book...spells to make people fall in love with you? Spells to hex others? Wiccans understand that magic is not about controlling others, and controlling others is precisely what many of Malbrough's charms, spells, and formulas aim to do.
