Rating: Summary: what a bunch of crap Review: In general, I am a pretty out there person, but this is way beyond my understanding. I do not believe this book is for anyone interested in horoscopes, but for someone who is wondering what Suzanne White does in her spare time. She does not focus upon anything that helps the reader in learning about this topic.
Rating: Summary: 99% ACCURATE Review: In her first book, Suzanne White pegged me as the noisy, celebratory Dragon that I am. Then I read The New Astrology and found out that I am a Saggitarius/Dragon which is nothing at all like an Aries/Dragon or a Cancer/Dragon. White has invented an entirely new concept here. 144 different character types and almost every single one is spot on. I read out peoples' signs at parties and family gatherings and everybody is stunned at how well New Astrology works. This book is a necessary reference for anyone interested in finding out who they really are. White has a knack for intuiting what we need to hear about ourselves. I wish she would tell me how to be a better Sagittarius/Dragon, ebuillient caretaker with a heart of cotton candy that I am. Suzanne White is a funny lady. Get her books today!
Rating: Summary: Sun Signs PLUS! (Even MORE specific!) Review: Instead of just covering Western Astrology and Sun Signs pertaining to the time of year you were born, this books ADDS Eastern Astrology in which it is the YEAR you were born that determines your sign. This book takes personality traits from BOTH types of Astrology and COMBINES them to give you a MORE ACURATE personality trait! Thus, two people of the same Sun Sign, who do have slightly different personalities, because they were born in different years, can be given their own more specific Astrology "Sign". It also explains how two people with differnt Sun Signs are alike in some ways because they were born in the same year. If you are like me, and don't like the books with too much hard to understand charts and technical talk that reads like some mathematic algebra formulas, you will appreciate this book, it is an easy to read and understand for everyone book, especially those of us that don't know how to draw up "star charts" and such. This book is a very simple way to find each person's combination of signs, then read the personality traits for that person.
Rating: Summary: Both Cat and Rabbit are right. Review: Many people complained that the book wrongly used the Cat inplace of the Rabbit, well you are all wrong, sort of. The Chinese, Japanese and Korean have the Rabbit as one of their 12 astrological animals, but the Vietnamese, Cambodian and probably the Thai used the Cat, not the Rabbit. Remember that Suzanne White first became interested in Eastern astrology when she first met a Vietnamese sage in Paris, France in the seventies. So both the Cat and Rabbit are right.
Rating: Summary: I'm sorry, not really good Review: OF course, one looks up one's own configuration in such a book as this, and when I found mine, it was not applicable at all. Very shallow and "pop" astro in style. I'm a classical astrologer, and was looking to branch into Chinese, but this is not the book for the serious-minded who wants to learn the depths of astrology.
Rating: Summary: Best Astrology Book I've Ever Found Review: Suzanne White has obviously put many years of research and thought into this book. She is clever, informed and generally unbiased. Her profiles are interesting and nearly all people I've shared this book with agree she's pretty much on the money! This is the only accurate profile I've ever found of myself. I'm a Cancer Dragon, simply Cancer doesn't fit totally, got a lot of dragon combined. All Astro buffs NEED this book
Rating: Summary: It's OK, but be sure you have a thick skin! Review: Suzanne White's "New Astrology" actually combines two of the oldest forms of astrology into one simple format. She takes the animal symbols of Chinese astrology (Horse, Rooster, Goat, etc.) and combines it with the traditional symbols of Western astrology (Scorpio, Virgo, Pisces, etc.) For example, if you were born in late October-November 1966, you'd be a Scorpio/Horse. White is one of the most entertaining astrological writers around, and her breezy style is a nice contrast to the vague and often plodding writing style of many astrologers. Unfortunately, she isn't one of those people who believes in holding anything back, and unlike many astrologers she does seem to believe that some signs are simply better (luckier, tougher, sexier, etc.) than others. Woe be to you if you are a male goat (White admits that she has a grudge against male goats), and after reading White's take on them you may often wonder how these poor men manage to get through a single day without having a nervous breakdown. On the other hand, if you were born a snake, then life must be a bowl of cherries. My chief complaint with this book - as with most of White's other books - is her incessant need to talk about herself and her "scads of friends" in almost every chapter. It seems as if White isn't satisfied unless she mentions every famous movie star or writer whom she's known over the years, and this name-dropping gets pretty old after awhile. However, if you've got a thick skin and you don't mind reading about Ms. White's famous "Leo/Dog, Capricorn/Ox, Cancer/Dragon" friends and relatives, then this book can provide you with many hours of fun and entertainment. Recommended.
Rating: Summary: GREAT FUN/VERSATILE/ACCURATE. Review: Suzanne White's books always amuse me. Some find her writing style a bit on the egocentric side, but I enjoy her off-beat humour. This book is an especially desirable one to own for astrology buffs, because it covers two types in one package. Ingeniously, Suzanne has cleverly combined the East with the West astrology-wise: the results are sometimes striking & surprising but they are always entertaining. White's style of writing is more fun than scientific, which makes the reading experience enjoyable - for most people, anyway. Like Theadora Lao and the late Linda Goodman, Suzanne takes the reader by the hand and guides them with humourous personal observations and episodes, therefore making the reader feel completely at ease and sometimes captivated by the sheer cheekiness of her observations: she doesn't expect us to take astrology TOO seriously. Just a spiritual blueprint for the game of life.

Rating: Summary: ABSOLUTE MUST READING. FIND OUT WHO YOU REALLY ARE! Review: The author, SUZANNE WHITE SUZANWHITE@AOL.COM, 11/24/96:ABSOLUTE MUSTREADING. FIND OUT WHO YOU REALLY ARE!THE NEW ASTROLOGY blends theAsian and Western zodiacs thereby creating 144 NEW astrological signs. You have to read this book to share the uncanny accurancy of what I discovered. Our "regular" monthly Sun signs are hugely modified by our yearly "Chinese" animal signs. After 10 years of practicing Chinese Astrology, I decided to try to bring Asian Astrology's animal signs more into the mainstream by combining them with our familiar Western Astrological signs. The results are astonishing. If you are a LEO and were born in the DOG year like Bill Clinton, I call you a LEO/DOG. These power-mongering sunshiney beasts are like no other Leos. Nor are they kin to any of the eleven other sorts of Dog-born persons we know and love. A Libra born Pig is more naive than your usual run-of-the-mill Libran, just as a Horse born in Scorpio is more of a meanie workaholic with an attitude than any plain old viper-tongued Scorpio you may have met. THE NEW ASTROLOGY will make you laugh and gape in wonder at the truth in these NEW astrological signs. You will not only find out who you are, but who you can best associate with, why you get along with So-and-So and cannot bear the sight of Such-and-Such. You will also find out what jobs you are best suited for, where you should try to live and what famous folks are born under your NEW sign. Please read THE NEW ASTROLOGY today. I wrote it just for you.
