Rating: Summary: Don't waste your time. Review: My sister-in-law recommended this book to me (Kingsbury is her favorite author), and I wanted to try it out. I'm really hoping that Waiting for Morning is better than this. The writing was just disappointing. I couldn't imagine anything more cliche that what was happening with the characters. It felt completely predictable and contrived. The themed seemed to be that God was in control and "has plans to prosper you", but it was just way too obvious what God's plans were from the first page, it made it seem like God wasn't all that creative. If you want to read a book about how God has divinely planned and orchestrated someone's life, read A Prayer for Owen Meany, by John Irving.
Rating: Summary: A story about human imperfection and God's perfect grace Review: The truth is this: Jade and Tanner are flawed characters. Some readers struggle with this - especially since A Moment of Weakness is an inspirational fiction. However, the people I see at church and in my neighborhood are flawed, also. And I think there's a place in this genre for stories that illustrate how difficult we make our lives when we venture down the wrong pathway. Also, how merciful God is in forgiving us and helping us find hope in our future once again.
Rating: Summary: I wept plenty! Review: This book is about the devastation wrought because of sexual sin and lies told in the aftermath. Neither Jade nor Tanner are immoral people but both they and Tanner's mother make decisions that harm the guilty and innocent alike. I thought this book clearly showed the consequences of wrong choices and ignoring the voice of God. This book also shows that God is a God of forgiveness and second chances. When we confess our sins, He forgives them and puts them as far away as east is from west. Sometimes we have to live with the consequences forever, even when we're forgiven. And sometimes the door is opened to something even better. In addition to the above, the reader will learn a lot about the erosion of religious freedom in America today. For that alone, I would recommend this book to others. Bravo, Ms. Kingsbury, for a beautiful story.
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put it down! Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read! It was my first book by Karen Kingsbury and now I can't wait to get my hands on more of her books. The story of Jade and Tanner was so touching I felt like I knew them personally. My heart went out to them! I've never cried so much over one book! Read this book... you'll be glad that you did!

Rating: Summary: An Incredible Tale of Sin, Grace, and Forgiveness Review: This is the second Karen Kingsbury novel I have read, the first being One Tuesday Morning. For the second time, I have come away with a respect for the quality of writing that Karen Kingsbury produces. Her characters are not storybook, because their lives are flawed as are all of us and yet she accurately chronicles the work of God upon the hearts of his children and their response to the Holy Spirit's prodding. A Moment of Weakness is not for the faint of heart--I wouldn't recommend it for children because of the complicated plot lines. However, for those who did pick up this book, it will give you a fresh perspective of God's incredible grace and love in bringing his children back from the slough of thier own sins and into a loving embrace. You will not be able to put this book down as you find yourself heavily steeped into the lives of the characters of this great tale. Buy this book--its definitely a one or two-nighter.
Rating: Summary: Human Regrets, God Forgives Review: This was a powerful story of sin, forgiveness and love. The journey you take with Jade and Tanner will have you so entranced you will not be able to put this book down. Kingsbury does an excellent job portraying two young Christians. They start out as childhood friends, and then where separated for years. They find each other again, they enter a moment of weakness that turns into another separation between them for another decade. But only this time with a huge secret that Jade keeps from Tanner. This story sends a message of two humans, who are Christians, making a mistake. With the help of Tanner's mother, it drives the biggest wedge between Jade and Tanner, the second decade separation. When they meet again, they are grown adults. They choose this time to follow the Lord's plan, even though they were not sure what it was. Their faith was strong ending this story with a wonderful bang. I won't go into much detail, you must read this. We all commit sin, just like Jade and Tanner did. Kingsbury uses the perfect scriptures in the story at the right times. She reminds us how powerful and loving and forgiving our Lord is with the scriptures. Hats off to Kingbury on this one, get your tissues ready.
Rating: Summary: A very "real" story. Review: This was an excellent book dealing with mistakes some people make in life.I enjoyed it because there are not many books that talk about these issues. It shows that even Christians can make mistakes and how God is still willing to forgive them time after time. I recommend this and any other book by Karen Kingsbury, but be sure to have tissues because it is a very touching book and you are sure to cry!
Rating: Summary: I COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN!! Review: This was such a good book that I literally couldn't put it down! Karen Kingsbury has a way of writing that not only keeps you hooked until the very last page, but she incorporates scripture and Christian values throughout her writings. With her books, you never know what's going to happen next! This particular book focuses on the issue of having sex outside of marriage and the consequences that came out of it. Once you start reading this book, don't plan on getting anything done until your finished!!
Rating: Summary: A great book Review: This was the first book I read by Karen Kingsbury but now I can't wait to read more. I read the entire book in one night, staying up until after 2 AM to finish it. It also made me cry. The characters were believable and likable, probably because of their mistakes. An excellent book!
