Summary: Christians are human, too
Review: A Moment of Weakness is yet another triumph from Kingsbury. She portrays Jade and Tanner as earnest, yet flawed, Christians whose one night of passion leads them down rocky roads that change the course of their lives. Growing up on the "wrong side of the tracks," Jade had a loose mother and drunken father and no spiritual upbringing whatsoever. After her mother leaves them, Jade spends the rest of her sad childhood taking care of her alcolholic father and trying desperately to rise above her circumstances. In the meantime, her childhood playmate, Tanner Eastman, with a wealthy and cultured background, lives his life mostly as his parents expect him to, with one exception. He becomes a born-again Christian, something his overbearing and domineering mother cannot understand. When Jade and Tanner meet again as young adults, they realize how much they love each other and want to be together. Tanner leads Jade to Christ, and they make a commitment to each other and to God to stay pure until the time that they can marry, when Tanner finishes his law degree and Jade her nursing degree. But Christian young people have hormones, too, and a night of unbridled passion between the two of them changes things forever. Kingsbury does an excellent job of portraying Christians as real people with human characteristics. Without being "preachy," Kingsbury shows how lives are affected in one single "Moment of Weakness."

Summary: well written, but a huge disappointment
Review: Having read Karen Kingsbury's "Waiting for Morning", I was prepared for a great book. I'm sorry to say I was greatly disappointed and cannot endorse this book. Although well written and an intriguing story line, I was saddened to see Ms Kingsbury weaving a story where God actually rewards years of dishonesty (Jade never does tell her husband the truth about the son he assumes is his; it all just happens to come out finally in court). In the end Jade is divorced by her husband and the man she has always loved just happens to still be available and they marry as soon as the divorce is finalized. Although there is some mention of Jade claiming to be sorry over her dishonesty ,it is really underplayed. I found myself wondering if she realized how she had destroyed someones life (her first husband); possibly even had a part in hardening him even more against God. Pathetic. Sorry, but this one needed lots more thought - a good editor should have caught this. Karen Kingsbury is a very good writer; I'm sad to have to give this such a negative review.

Summary: Page Turner
Review: I could not put this book down. This is the first book of Karen Kingsbury's that I have read, but I will definitely read more. This is a beautiful love story--a story not only of the surviving love of two people--but a story of the merciful, boundless love of our Lord. This is a story of human mistakes and regrets, and unlimited forgiveness by a God of second chances. If you have gone your own way and been brought back into the arms of God (and all His love and forgiveness,) you will appeciate this book so very much.

Summary: Awesome Book
Review: I couldn't put this book down, I started it at 8:00 last night and didn't go to bed until I finished it. I can't wait for Karen to write another book, I have read all of them. She makes you feel so close to God. You won't go wrong if you buy this book.

Summary: Sleepless on Vacation
Review: I loved this book and its characters. I took it on vacation with me, and could not sleep because I was so entranced. So much for relaxing! I thought the book was realistic, addressing major life issues, without being preachy. I think it's a great read for a young girl who has yet to make a choice for abstinence.

Summary: Another good book by Karen Kingsbury
Review: I must admit Karen Kingsbury is one of my favorite authors. She writes so real with all the struggles of real life. In A Moment of Weakness she brings to life how easy it is to fall even when we think we are safe. This is a very good book. I found it very interesting anyway.

Summary: a moment of weakness
Review: It was emotionally over the edge, too picture perfect. Even though she didn't do the right thing right away, (she lied to her husband) everything turned out just fine. So it says in an unspoken way,the end justifies the means. Very unrealistic. A huge disapointment after her last book.

Summary: another great read
Review: Karen Kingsbury has written yet another great read. All of Ms. Kingbury's books have a romantic touch but do not lead the mind to impure thoughts. This book touches on a subject that many people struggle with, but hide from because of shame. I recommend this to everyone who loves getting lost in pages of trial and strength, heartache and sheer joy. But, make sure you read "Waiting for Morning" before this or it will give away a few things in that book.
