Review: I can't even put into words how wonderful this book is. It made me laugh, it made me cry it brought my hometown back to me. Im looking forward to reading "Dandelions in a Jelly Jar" the second book in the Lake Emily series. It's coming out on April 20th 2004 so mark your calendars!!!

Summary: A Can of Good Reading
Review: Peter Morgan and his wife Mae are a courageous couple with much to offer the story. I read this book in two sittings and can't remember feeling more heartwarmed at characterization. A heartwarming read in Can of Peas. Highly recommended.

Summary: A Nice Read
Review: I thought this book was very nice. It was one of the duller books I've recently read, but still nice. At some points it was hard to keep going because it does tend to get a little slow at times, but it was worth it to see how Peter and Mae would make out. The ending was a bit of a surprise, not at all where I thought the author would take it...but overall, a nice quick read.

Summary: UGH! Sappy and Whiny!
Review: This book was a complete waste of my time. I found it to be sugary sweet and sappy. This book proved to me how hard it must be to write an articulate novel. Better luck next time.

Summary: Simplicity of Farm Life
Review: An excellent book that will open your eyes to the troubles and joys of midwest farm life. Learn to have more appreciation for the simple joys in life, right along with Peter and Mae. After all as Leonardo da Vinci says: "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication."

Summary: There's just something about Lake Emily....
Review: Come visit Lake Emily, where a charming small town community welcomes newcomers Peter & Mae Morgan into their midst. Share the laughter and tears along with the Morgans, as they struggle to save the family farm and embrace life in a close-knit community so very different from the life they once had in the city. A heart-warming story that leaves you feeling uplifted and thankful for the simple joys in life, appealing to readers of Janette Oke, Jan Karon (Mitford series) Philip Gulley (Harmony series) Beverley LaHaye, Terri Blackstock (Seasons series). Looking forward to reading the sequel. ~~Ellie Schroder, owner of The Christian Fiction Site

Summary: Borrrrrrrrring main character...left me wanting more!
Review: I found the main character to be a spoiled, self-centered brat. Every other character was developed and interesting, but she left much to be desired. I found myself caring less and less about her "plight" because really, it wasn't a plight at all.

As an aside, I didn't realize this was considered Christian fiction until I read other reviews.

Summary: Not for the fast paced northeasterners
Review: This book is blah, predictable and lacks any drama. As part of our book club reading we were trying to get more meaning out of this christian fiction. This book is dull, immature writing and the characters and plot are too obvious. Our real lives in the northeast are much more exciting then this goody two shoes farming story.

Summary: A Can of Peas
Review: A very pleasant story of nice people and how their lives are interconnected in a small Minnesota town and the small ways that God leads us in our lives. A nice book for accompaniment to iced tea on the porch in the summertime.

Summary: Best book I've read all year!
Review: I bought this book on a whim and am so glad that I did! This book gave me such a great feeling that I can hardly wait for the next one! I suspect we will hear more about Trudy, or at least I hope so!
I live in a farming community and this book shows how the whole area supports one another, especially in times of need. This type of community still exists in our area, 4H and all.
I have milked cows and watched 100 chickens meet their Maker one cold afternoon.
This book shows how the non-material things in life are what really count
Hurry up with the next one Traci!
