Rating: Summary: destined to be THE CLASSIC in the psychic field Review: Anyone with an interest in the paranormal or psychic functioning of any kind MUST have this book. Like "Mind Trek", with "Remote Viewing Secrets" Joe has broken new ground in the field of psychic literature. But "Remote Viewing Secrets" far surpasses anything even Joe has published to-date. The book is a true masterpiece. Joe addresses every aspect of psychic functioning with a depth and rich clarity that has never been achieved. For a remote viewer, it's all here; what is real and what is not, proper targeting, protocols, training, applications, methods, evaluating yourself, etc. His descriptions of the inner development of a novice remote viewer is uncanny. This also the book for anyone with a healthy skepticism. The honest, open-minded person will find what s/he is looking for in these pages. I must say this: I've experienced spontaneous psychic events since childhood and I've read every paranormal-related book I could get my hands on. The writing of McMoneagle eclipses everything else. Follow his advice to the letter and, whatever natural ability you have; it will shine through. If you are one of those people who are gifted; in this book you will find the reassurance and support you need. Joe's been there, and he lets the reader know it. Joe McMoneagle is paving the way for the rest of us. Honest, readable, yet straight-to-the-point, this book shows you the trail, warns you of the pitfalls, explains every conceivable twist and turn, and then encourages you to explore at your own pace. This book is destined to be THE classic in psychic literature. At least until Joe writes another one...
Rating: Summary: Good science book on a unscientivic topic Review: As a psychologie student I've seen te scientivic method being applied to something as complex as the human mind and for parapsychologie it's even more the case. The autor has a kristal clear writing style trying to avoid the vage descriptions psy phenomena are surounded with as much as possible. It remind me of the "Ganzfeld" experiments to prove psy existed. Well, psy does exists, it's just not that strong. This book tries to teach you how to train that ability. I personaly like the zen way in wich he teaches it. With a belt system and all. If you dislike the usual houpla surrounding psy try this book or else try "The Satanic Bible" by LaVay.
Rating: Summary: Empowering! Review: As a remote viewing student I found this book to be the one that tied it all together. Joe McMoneagle made the big GROK happen for me! All my questions answered. His additional techniques helped me realize that I did not have to adhere strictly to the methods I had been learning. That once the discipline had been developed, I could find and utilize my own talents and leanings. Thank You, Joe, elucidation and illuminatation! I bought 2. One to keep and one to circulate. After all, the faster the knowledge of this skill spreads, the sooner humanity can claim its birthright of freedom, knowledge, and Oneness with all that is!
Rating: Summary: The name of this book is miss leading... Review: As a Shaman Priest I was taught from a very young age how to do remote viewing. Remote Viewing secrets is interesting reading but when it comes down to who can and who can't it is completly off the wall from the way our students learn. I read the book in the local library and suggest anyone to request it the same way before purchasing it. He makes strong points and will let you the reader decide for your self how good the book is for your book shelf. To add to our library here at the temple :) sorry there is no way. LA SP
Rating: Summary: Much to do about nothing Review: Based on the weight of the reviews and with the assumption that Joseph McMoneagle possessed some insight into remote viewing, I purchased this book out of curiosity. Given McMoneagle's affiliation with the STARGATE project (mentioned numerous times in the book), and various research efforts of the U.S. government, my gullibility got the better of me. McMoneagle's book is a very interesting read, but not really informative in a how-to sense. This book is doesn't even mention any statistics on the effectiveness of any experiments, just a wordy anecdote here or there. Later, I found out why -- it wasn't until I plowed through the book that I learned that the CIA's retroactive review of the STARGATE program pointed out that the government psychics were only accurate about 15 percent of the time. McMoneagle writes authoritatively on the subject, and he seems to have a dedicated following (just read the reviews here). He discusses protocols, methods, and ethics, without really giving away anything substantial, but leaves a lot unstated. If you are a cynic, you will remain so; if you are a believer, you will believe more. He even mentions peripherally: remote viewing in healing, dowsing, channeling, tarot cards, crystal gazing. McMoneagle even includes two research papers (Appendix B, and C), with statistical formulas and technical graphs. To the uneducated, it would appear as a tacit and scientific endorsement of the validity of remote viewing. Considering the multi-million dollar investment, I expected a more compelling look at the topic. I couldn't help but be chagrined with several decades or research a multi-million dollar investment in researching paranormal phenomena, and seeing child-like drawings produced during "training". If you are a cynic or just open-minded, this book will not change your mind. Save your money.
Rating: Summary: embarrassed... Review: Can I get my money back? Remember the old Bugs Bunny cartoons? You know, the good ones from the 40's and 50's that were deliciously politically incorrect and hilarious? Remember the cartoons where some wiseguy would be hoodwinked and an image of a baseball with a screw through it would appear above the unfortunate fools head? Is that me? Yep. Is there anything to this at all? I dunno. Investigators have studied "Psi" phenemenon till the cows came home and still no definitive answers. But this...this is a new level of credulity. If this REALLY worked the importance of it would be staggering: lives saved by remote viewing disasters, plane crashes, etc. Yet, disasters still happen, people still senselessly die, the lame excuse of the remote viewers with their overbite is to chuckle and say, "boy, struck out with that one, huh!" All of us, I suspect, have encountered "intuitions" and "coincidences" that seem to defy any easy explanation; what's going on? We may never know. Or maybe, it's just the way we perceive things and the strange "connect-the-dots" games we play with ourselves and each other. Either way, fascinating stuff. But this book just don't explore either side. It's freak show stuff. Intellectual Pornography. Look elsewhere. Good thing this book wasn't around when I was 16. What a sad spectacle it would have been to see a acne faced Gay kid standing behind the Phys-Ed building at school trying to "remote view" the football players' shower...
