Summary: Beautiful!!!
Review: As a therapist, I found Riding Between the Worlds to be a great follow up to Tao of Equus. Once again Linda's writing is not only beautiful but extemely helpful for therapists, riders, and anyone seeking to become a more authentic person. Not only will you relate better to your horse, but also to yourself and those around you. This time the reader is provided with more of the tools she uses with her clients and how the horses help cofacilitate this work. Her explaination of emotions and the messages behind them (based on the work of Karla McLaren)has been an invaluable tool. A worthwhile read!

Summary: Human-horse connections can provide invaluable models
Review: From the usual basics of the practice to more unique chapters on correct breathing and posture, this covers a world of detail. Linda Kohanov's Riding Between The Worlds: Expanding Our Potential Through The Way Of The Horse explores a new kind of therapy which blends psychology and spirituality with a love of horses. Human-horse connections can provide invaluable models for growth and understanding, and enthusiasts will appreciate a direct assessment of these connections.

Summary: THANK GOD FOR COURAGE
Review: Having read both "Tao of Equus" and "Riding Between the Worlds",
I am so thankful that SOMEONE had the courage to write about things usually only whispered about. As a therapist, I have personally witnessed changes in clients who are truly open to healing. As a horsewoman, I have personally seen changes in myself and my horses.
"Riding Between The Worlds" is a much easier read for most people. If you do not shed more than one tear reading this book, check yourself to see just how "shut down" you REALLY are.

Summary: Messages from Horses
Review: I was given Linda's book, The Tao of Equus, for Christmas. After reading it, I bought and read, Riding Between the Worlds. I found both books tended to parallel some of my own experiences with horses. Linda has expanded her knowledge of the powerful messages horses give us to help others heal.

Summary: Courageous and much needed
Review: Like the Tao of Equus, this book will probably mostly appeal to Highly Sensitive People, but it is good information for the other 80% of the population. After reading some of the reviews for the Tao of Equus it is clear that some of that majority either aren't interested or are incapable of understanding the information presented in these two books. Nevertheless, it is a courageous act on the part of Linda Kohanov for the rest of us, that 15-20% who have been squashed, like the horses, for being extraordinarily sensitive and intuitive. If this sounds like "whining" to you then you probably won't get it even though the author presents the information in a thought-provoking and often emotionally-charged manner. You'll never convince those of us who cried and were moved the whole way that it's "fluff." It's healing for us, healing we've been waiting a long time for. Thank you, Linda, for speaking out, for empowering me and for being an advocate for the horse "field."

Review: Linda and her herd have helped me to see things in a whole new arena. Her love and respect of both horse and human are obvious in every word. This book and her previous, "The Tao of Equus" have change my life forever. I highly reccommend this book not only for the horse fanciers but for anyone interested in expanding there own potential through the way of the horse. I anxiously await the next book from Linda. Thank you for putting into words what my heart has always felt.

Summary: HONOR THYSELF THROUGH THE WAY OF THE HORSE!
Review: Linda uses her experiences with her own herd of horses to enlighten us to our own emotional process. What horses can teach us is a lot! Linda explores the highly attuned language of the horse and how they react to our subtle cues and emotions. She shows us that humans and horses can work together with the intention of healing and get remarkable results on emotional, physical, and spiritual levels. Her case studies are amazing. This is mindblowing work and is relevent for all of us as we struggle to access our true feelings, reach our potential, and deepen our connection to all our relations.

Summary: Thought Provoking
Review: Linda writes a thought provoking book about how horses have the power to heal our most inner and deep hurts, even hurts we may deny we have! Linda addresses that nebulous topic of how horses are so effective in therapy situations - primarily for humans who are emotionally impaired as opposed to the more common use of horses for those with physical disabilities (i.e. Downs syndrome, Muscular Dystrophy etc...) The book is a personal history of stories and thoughts about the horses' power to heal; it is not a how-to on how to run a therapy center or even how an instructor can help people with similar problems. This isn't an issue for me with the book, but I do want people to be aware of what the book is "for."

While I found the book a fascinating read, I also found myself feeling a deep disquiet and had to acknowledge that not all of Linda's theories were for me. Not all of us have deep pain and hurts from unaddressed histories of sexual or emotional abuse, or dysfunctional families. What happens when an average person, who is a self-functioning and healed person interacts with a horse? I guess Linda's response may be that I'm living in denial and that I'm not "normal" no matter what I think! LOL! :)

Another concern for me is that some of her histories she presented, if read by an non-horse person could actually encourage safety issues if that person then wanted to apply Linda's methods with her own horses. Again, another horse book that appeals to the general public - and like Monty Roberts books, may present to the non-horse experienced methods they are not fully able to implement and lead to dangerous consequences.
