Summary: People will believe you . . .
Review: . . . if you tell them Benjamin Franklin said it first. While great quotations are fun for everyone, they are particularly useful to the author or professional speaker seeking confirmation of his or her premise.

This book is entertaining, uplifting and a valuable resource. For actual coverage, see the Table of Contents in the bar to the left of this page.

A nicely produced 144-page hardcover book, The Change-Your-Life Quote Book makes an ideal gift. And you can't beat the price.

On the other hand, I have to take issue with the title. This is a book of "quotations"; it is not a "quote" book. A "quote" refers to a number or price.

Allen Klein is a hugely successful author and professional speaker. He is a humorist known as the Jolly-tologist.

As a publisher and an author of 113 books (including revisions and foreign-language editions) and over 500 magazine articles, I recommend this book to anyone seeking a lift as well as to anyone who works with words.

Summary: Fabulous!
Review: Allen Klein has done it again! He has compiled over 600 wise and wonderful quotes to inspire and motivate. For a quote-lover like me this book is a must for one's personal library.

A true God-send, as are all of Allen's books.

Summary: Diverse, focused. Unusual Collection
Review: Another quote book. Ever since Bartlett developed his dictionary of quotations, we've had a fascination with words mouthed by others. Seeking succinct and clever ways to communicate our thoughts, we enjoy citing perspectives taken by others. The result of our penchant for quotes is one book after another of the utterances of the famous and near-famous.

What makes this compendium any different from the rest of the quote books clamoring for our attention? In my opinion, there are two distinctions. First, the book is organized into sections that reflect the philosophy of Allen Klein, the quote collector. In his view, people can change their lives by understanding the actions speak louder than words. Life change strategies comprise the rest of the table of contents: Alter your attitude, be grateful, believe in miracles, cultivate kindness and compassion, dream the impossible dream, embrace change, enjoy today, forget failure. The list, a good list, goes on. Under each piece of advice as a heading, the reader finds insightful, inspiring, and thought-provoking quotes.

Another difference I discovered was the source of the quotes. What a wide range of resources! Anonymous is there, of course, accompanied by Martha Washington, Zig Ziglar, Golda Meier, Izaak Walton, Oral Roberts, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Walt Whitman. You'll learn from Mark Twain, William Penn, Bennett Cerf, and Mother Teresa. Eleanor Roosevelt, Walt Disney, Barbara Bush, and Donald Trump join Goethe, Carl Sandburg, Truman Capote, and Susan B, Anthony. Howard Cosell, Chester Nimitz, George Burns shares his wisdom, along with Helen Hayes, Stephen King, Richard Bach, Brian Tracy, Pope John Paul II, and Martin Luther King, Jr. What a collection!

Great reading for those empty moments that cry out for something to absorb intellectually. The book's size makes it easy to read in the bathroom, while waiting for your doctor, waiting for airplanes, or enjoying some private moments while dining alone at a restaurant. Here's a friend you can take along with you.

Review: I definitely enjoyed this quote book. I also recomend A Treasury of Spiritual Quotations, A Collection of Wisdom, and The Book of Positive Quotations

Summary: You can quote me on this!
Review: I originally bought this book as a reference for my presentations. What I learned as I flipped through it, is that this book is also valuable as a tool for personal growth and encouragement! These quotes can give you a fresh perspective on a multitude of ideas. One of my favorites is in the "Let 'er rip" section.....after all (as found on p.87), "Life is a great big canvas, and you should throw all the paint on it you can." Danny Kaye. AMEN!

Summary: A Great Read, A Beautiful Book
Review: I'm a sucker for collections of quotes, whether they're in books or on the web. And this collection is my favorite. It's divided into helpful sections (like Alter your attitude, Be grateful, and Cultivate kindess & compassion), and it has an index of sources. It draws from a wide variety of sources, but it is unfailingly friendly, inclusive, and inspiring. I read it myself, and I use it at the beginning of a training class I'm giving to a group of construction workers. (They love it, too, believe it or not.) It's a hardback book that is both substantial and beautiful. Buy it for yourself or give it as a gift. And remember, "No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care." (Don Swartz, p. 26)

Summary: A great collection
Review: Since college I have begun a quote book of my own. I found quotes that were inspiring, romantic, and helped put an interesting spin on life and certain circumstances. I found this book, picked it up and had to buy it. There were just so many quotes that I liked and could identify with or aspire to, but I couldn't possibly copy all of them in my own quote book. So, this is a welcome addition to my fascination with quotes. And I really enjoy the fact that the quoted individuals range from Confucious to Joe Namath...it provides an interesting perspective.

If you enjoy reading tidbits on happiness, attitude, dreams, forgiveness, success, overcoming obstacles and more then this would be a book to pick up. Otherwise, leave it for someone else to appreciate.
