Summary: Great Book
Review: Folks, hold on to this book cause it's gonna keep you glued to your seat! Again, Ms Bowen has written another book that will have you laughing, shaking your heads and agreeing to the church ladies of the Gethsemene Missionary Baptist Church. When the pastor of the church unexpectedly dies just less than a year short of the church's Centennial celebration(which was an inconvenience), the men committee decide to pick a new minister to the consernation of the women who felt they had no voice. But, as time moved on, they realized that they do have a voice and from then on causes some mishaps that even disrupt the church. I highly recommend this book you won't be disappointed.

Summary: Heaven Help Us!
Review: I love this book just as much as I love her first book, Church Folks. I was unable to put this book down. You will find yourself laughing and at one point, you may even shed a tear. Ms. Bowen definitely knows how we "church folk" can get out of hand. I can't wait for her next book.

Summary: A Spiritually Entertaining Book
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book from the first to the last page. The characters are believable. The book is well written and entertaining. Even in chuch, you will find the devil alive and working. I look forward to the next book by Michele Andrea Bowen.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Very funny and inspiring
Review: I thought it would be more of a sequel to Ms. Bowen's first novel. But it's a continuation of the struggles that go on in the church and with Christians. It was extremely funny. Yet very touching and uplifting. I have heard about different situations that churches have gone through. Ms. Bowen gives you a front row seat into the reality of these struggles. Really encourages you to see a person's heart and not what's on the outside. I can hardly wait for the next addition to these novels.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Overrated
Review: I was anticipating this novel with all the hype it received, and especially since Church Folk was such a big hit! Second Sunday is an overrated novel. The story line is boring and outrageous! Many of the characters could use some spicing up. I was so tired and fed up with her saying the first and last name of the characters over and over again (i.e., Mr. Louis Loomis). Why couldn't she just say "Brother Loomis?" Page after page, I've waited for something to blow me away. I've waited to say "ooh," "ahh," but nothing happened. Everything was so predictable. Many times I've had to read sentences over just to get what was said. Because of the sexual connotations, this book is more like a "contemporary" Christian fiction, than Christian fiction. Sorry. This novel just doesn't cut it.
