Summary: The Whole Package
Review: Romance. Intrigue. Thrilling action. Geopolitics. As scary as tomorrow's headlines. What more could you want? This story has it all.

I don't generally like these male testosterone shoot-'em-up thrillers, but this one is definitely different. For one thing, it's got heart. For another thing, Dekker really seems to care about his characters.

I've been watching this guy's career for four books now, and he's on the verge of a major breakout, either his next book, or the one after that. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

Summary: Whoa!
Review: Tanya reluctant follows a mysterious dream into the jungle where her parents were brutally murdered when she was younger and uncovers more than she hoped, more than she feared...
Thunder of Heaven ties in perfectly with it's predecessors and continues the dramatic tale of God using the most unlikey people to fulfill His plans.
Every time I thought I had figured out "the" twist, there was another one I had overlooked. The beginning tears at your heart, the middle keeps you at the edge of your seat franticlly turning the pages, and the end blasts you out of your seat in bewilderment.
This is definately one of the best books ever written.

Summary: Don't Miss Out!
Review: Ted Dekker ranks high on my list of favorite authors. He consistently (four novels now) tells a captivating story rich with spiritual truth. His characters are credible, sometimes even complex, and the pace is often breakneck.

"Thunder of Heaven" continues The Martyr's Song Series, but it also stands alone. For those who've followed the series, it's fun to see how Dekker incorporates Helen and Father Teuwen and even mentions a link to Kent Anthony. For those just discovering Dekker's writing, you'll have no problem following the story.

Dekker deals with current issues: terrorism, God's love, and our human desire for revenge. He tackles these topics without flinching, yet shows grace and integrity throughout. His two main characters are Shannon and Tanya, a man and a woman who first met in the jungles of Venezuela. Their lives take violent and separate paths and eight years later they find each other again, back in the jungles...This time, they are there to stop a terrorist plot aimed at striking a nuclear blow to America.

Dekker handles certain scenes with great depth and accuracy. (His depiction of the inner workings of a nuclear weapon were fascinating, for example.) At other points, he breaks the mood for me when his characters are constantly swallowing nervously or feeling pain flashing along their spines. He mentions, too, the man who killed Hitler. Huh? Hitler, according to the most recognized reports, committed suicide.

Aside from these complaints and, for me, the over-romanticized scenes of the first chapter, I would rank this as one of the best page-turners ever from the Christian market. Dekker, in short time, has outclassed most other writers in this genre of Christian fiction. Not only does he entertain with a bang, he aims to hit you between the eyes with Godly truth as well. Don't miss out!

Summary: He wrote this before 9-11, to his surprise
Review: This book takes on the theme of terrorism coming to the shores of America. In his intro, Ted says that he wrote this before 9-11, which is eerie, in the way that this book seems to knowingly build on this terrorist attack; apparently the book was published a bit later than 2001. I think that in itself sets this book, and author, apart, because Dekker seems to be listening with his heart towards heaven, as he uses his talent dramatically to stage a cliffhanger. I could not put this book down, and was edgy if I had to do other things before I could get to the next chapter. The only dissapointment was that it ended. I've also read "Blink", which is a heart-pounder, that also couldn't be put down. I can't wait to read another of Ted's books. He's right up there with Perretti; they're both always dependable for thrilling books. I also appreciate that I can give these books to my kid's high-school friends, and the plots are exciting, and don't depend on filth to keep one glued to every page. I'm proud to recommend anything by Dekker.

Summary: Wow!
Review: This is my second Dekker book, the first being Blessed Child. Wow! I bought Thunder yesterday and finished it this morning. I'm not sure quite how to describe what these books do to me, but they do move me.

Thunder is an intense ride with an absolutly killer climax I could never have predicted! Normally I don't go for suspense thrillers, but this one is based on a romantic relationship similar to Blessed Child, and the characters are so well drawn that I found the action enthrawling. Unlike with so many novels, I found myself really caring for Tanya and Shannon as they struggled to make sense of thier world gone crazy. The novel deals with terrorism (according to the Author's note written a year before Sept. 11) but the real fare here is love. One of the most unnusual and intersting love stories I've ever read. The story deals with two primary questions: What kind of person would grow to hate as terrorists hate? And what would happen if you fell in love with such a man? Inevitalby the two worlds will collide and herein lays the power of this story.

After reading Thunder, I will immediatly buy Dekker's other books. The world of Christian fiction has a new author who draws stories with the power of a mainstream writer. Strongly Recommended!

Summary: IT IS JUST TOO GOOD!
Review: This story was so . . . good! I can't believe how exciting it was from the beginning to the end. When you start to read this, empty a day of plans. You will not be able to stop until the last page turns. This has everything I want in a novel and more. It is just too good.

Summary: Great Read!
Review: This was by far the best work I have read. Intrigue, action, captivating story line. I am a picky reader particularly when it comes to fiction. Thunder of Heaven kept me interested all the way through. No lulls. I have already been pushing it on every reader I know!

Summary: Another Great Ted Dekker Novel
Review: This was my 2nd Ted Dekker novel. As I understand it, he gets better with each book, so I am trying to read them in order. This book kept my attention through all the chapters and concluded with a bang. Hey, any story where you explode a nuclear bomb over American soil is going to grab any readers attention.

I did, however, find it a little hard to believe that the two main characters didn't recognize each other for a few chapters. But this was overlooked and explained away, and made sense once the story unfolded further.

I would recommend this book. It ties into the Heaven's Wager book, and earlier release in the Martyr's Song series by Dekker. I look forward to reading more of his work.
