Rating: Summary: We're All A Little Crazy Review: The title of this book would normally be a turn-off for me. I wouldn't even consider reading it if my very own daughter, Arianna, hadn't mentioned it so excitedly to her friend, Laura, last August 2004. I finally found a used copy and I'm very glad I read it now. Paulo Coelho simply adds so much to one's life in his profound words (and definitely read THE ALCHEMIST--if you haven't already!). 'No one should let themselves get used to anything'. Hey that last sentence is in this book! I'd highly recommend this book for any person who is psychologically 'in the know' and/or who has an inkling of minimal depression during the trials and tribulations of living a routine life. Everyone has an unusual story to tell--is another line in this book and the Eduard character is clearly semi-autobiographical to Paulo's own life. Another good reminder from this book is to make sure you get enough 'sunlight' in your life. It DOES make a difference!
Rating: Summary: Not very interesting.... Review:
This book was rather plotless and boring. Little of interest happens in it. There was nothing in it that made me say, at the end, 'I'm glad I read that book.'
The twist at the end (I won't say what it is, here) was improbable and unconvincing because it was unethical.
Rating: Summary: The place of action Review: Many of you maybe doesn't know that this book was written by exact place. Slovenia (which is not Slovakia!!!) does exist, so does this mental hospital (about conditions in it I can't tell) in Vrhnika. Many translations are not correct, couse these places are truly existing. so, enyoj in book that promotes my belowed country...and you are welcomed to visit us!. O, one more thing...yes we are part of European Union since may 2004!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Story with an Unexpected Twist Review: Once again, the great Paulo Coehlo brings us an extraordinary story. Veronica Decides to Die combines tragedy, love, friendship, spiritual growth, and energy all in one great ensemble. The twist at the end of this novel will leave you longing for Coehlo's next literary creation. The authenticity of this story is undoubtedly fascinating.
Rating: Summary: Awe-inspiring! Review: I'd have to admit that when I first picked up this book, after maybe the first chapter I put it down and practically forgot about it. After a few weeks I picked up the book again -- and I'm glad I did. The writing style may not appeal to some readers: I know at first it didn't interest me, but after The Alchemist, and after resolving to stick with it, Coelho's writing grows on you and you end up appreciating it.
What's absolutely amazing and awe-inspiring in this book is that while you're kept hanging almost to the end, everything is so wonderfully paced and written that the events don't detract from the message of life and hope that the book is all about. Even if only in a book, you feel as if you know the characters personally and that you're living in their world and get affected by their lives, Veronika's especially. I know for my part that I was rather stunned when I finally put down the book, stunned and awed and I felt ALIVE and one with Veronika and the rest of the characters.
This is a definite, definite must-read. Coelho truly knows his art.
Rating: Summary: Better than The Alchemist Review: This is not an aspiring book but it is a slightly different story which starts at the point where Veronica, a young girl is saved from a suiscide attempt. After that she is placed in a rehabilitation center where she experiances different kind of an atmohphere and this is what makes this book interesting.
Rating: Summary: Veronika decides t die Review: Yesterday I read the Book "Veronika Decides to die" by Paulo Coelho, It was surprisingly gripping. The narrative style of the book is so simple and smooth. The way in which the author narrate the incidents in the book so clear and griping, it never let u keep the book down.
