Rating: Summary: One of my very favorite decks in my collection Review: and I have over 500 decks. This set speaks to me because of the strong symbolism and the sense of history in the components as part of a modern medium (collage). The package available from Amazon is especially stunning, with book and tarot bag.Easily 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful But Disappointing Review: I am a true believer in the gnostic origins of the tarot. Many decks are proof this belief is widely accepted: Tarot of The Saints, The Alchemical Tarot, Masonic Tarot, The Nigel Jackson Tarot, The Templar Tarot and the grandaddies of them all- The Rider-Waite and Knapp-Hall decks. Recently, two new DaVinci decks truely cement the gnostic theory of origin, DaVinci being one of the former Grand Masters of The Priory of Sion. I fully expected the Victoria Regina deck to follow the same school of thought. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. While the images are captivating and intrigueing, the lack of color (indispensable when conveying gnostic imagery) left me wanting more. The cards say nothing to me, other than "aren't we different and attractive"?, much like the other "theme" decks in my collection: The Tarot of Oz, The Vampire Tarot, Lord of The Rings Tarot, Fantasy Showcase Tarot. These tarots, like the Victoria Regina deck, are very eye-catching and unique. They deserve a spot in any collection for that very reason, even if they don't have much to say.

Rating: Summary: Artistic, Beautiful, Thought-Provoking Review: I am amazed at how beautiful this black & white deck is...the collage pictures on each card are very well done and quite thought-provoking. My favorite is the Moon card with the lovely lady in Victorian dress sitting in the crook of a crescent moon. The suits are Mason Jars (cups), Pens (wands), Guns (swords) and Watches (coins/pentacles), each of these items having been invented during the Victorian era...a bit of history to add to your tarot knowledge. The black velvet bag with a blue silk lining is a nice added bonus.

Rating: Summary: Novice reader Review: I am new to tarot, but so far have managed to collect a dozen or so decks. This one is by far my favorite. I find the images on the cards to be very descriptive of the associated meaning and easy to read. I also enjoy the insight into Victorian socity that the book provides. When I was ordering decks this is not the one I thought I would enjoy the most but it has turned out to be my favorite.

Rating: Summary: An Enjoyable Deck Review: I am not a professional reader as much as I am a collector of card decks, and I thoroughly enjoyed this one, not just from an artistic point of view, but from a historical one as well. From my studies in folklore and history, I found that this deck included plenty of both. The history provided as well as the symbolism in the cards made for a great read. Not only do you get the cards, but the included book detailed the symbolism embedded within it, the source of the original picture (often from old Victorian post cards or greeting cards, occasionally from newspaper illustrations of the day), and historical referances. Anyone interested in the Victorian age will also find a thorough and useful bibliography at the end for suggestions. The translations of the suites were wonderful (fountian pens for wands, watches for pentacles, mason jars for cups, and rifles for swords- all in their height during the Victorian Age) And the court cards were very reflective of the important figures in Victoria's life. The major arcana features characters from the day and scenery transformed to be appropriate for the age. The only reason that this did not get 5 stars was that occasionally some of the card images appeared a little too cut and paste. On other cards this system worked well, but here and there it looked too out of place. Buyer should be aware that in keeping with the theme, all of the images are in black and white. All things considered, this is not only a fun deck, but the book is a fun read and a neat source for Victorian information.
Rating: Summary: Love this set Review: I find the set in very good taste and the pictures are extrodinary and remind me of the victorian times!!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Review: I got this deck only about half a year ago and already it's become my favourite pack of Tarot cards. The meanings of the cards are fairly traditonal, along the Rider-Waite line, but so much work and thought has gone into these cards that they seem fresh and new. I was drawn to this particular deck because I love the Victorian era and England in particular, so I feel that I personally relate to it quite well. At first I wasn't too thrilled about the black and white printing they used for the deck, but now I'm used to it and I can see that it's totally appropriate for the era being portrayed. If you're a fan of Victoriana, or just a collector of all Tarot cards, I strongly recommend this deck!
