Rating: Summary: The Astral Travel Bible! Review: Being interested in the occult, life after death and related matters for years, and after wasting much time (and money) on at least a dozen other books about OOBE's, I finally found this brilliant work. Buhlman's descriptions are so easy to read....I felt as if one of my friends was sitting there teaching the subject to me, totally unlike many of the other pretentious, self-absorbed works that are available. You don't have to read the entire book to know that Buhlman is correct. Many of the initial phases of an OOBE will be so familiar to experiences that most people have already had that your doubts will be quickly dispelled. I cannot speak too highly of this book, and I can guarantee you that, if you follow the methods listed, this book will have a more profound effect upon you than anything else you've ever read.
Rating: Summary: Read this book at your own risk Review: I bought this book because I was interested in the subject and it was published by HarperCollins... Most OBE books are filled with mumbo jumbo and panty waste New Age B.S... This book had exercises that read like a pilot's instruction manual... I tried a few just before I went to sleep for about two weeks every night... Low and behold I woke up in the dream state, climbed out of my body and walked around my apartment!.. If you don't believe it buy the book and try it yourself you skeptical stick in the mud... I only did it twice but it was enough to make me realize there is more going on than what we puny mortals may imagine... I actually got a little spooked and quit the exercises... I thought I could be playing around with occult powers I wasn't prepared for... The Tibetans claim you need a guru to initiate you into this kind of thing... Be careful... Read this book at your own risk...
Rating: Summary: Interesting. Review: I throughly enjoyed Buhlmans stories of his outer body experience. How true? Dont know havent had an out of body yet. But stay focused any hopefully it will come. But back to the book. Like I said very interesting stuff. But part two "Solving our greatest mysteries". All I can say is WOW! Now there is two ways you can think of this,Buhlman is out in the twlight zone or Buhlman did some studying and really knows what the heck he's talking about.I believe it is the latter. He got diagrams, pictures definitions,Scientific evidence including findings from the great scholars of the past and has put together one of the best reads of the seven dimensions and what comes after death and,.. well its just alot of info. Almost overwhelming. The conclusion gives you some advice and tips on how to begin your astral projections. How to focus when to do it what to do. If you can get past part two without losing touch and focus,it is a very interesting book.
Rating: Summary: A MUST HAVE! Review: This is a book you must have or at least have read if you are interested in achieving OOBE. I would say it is among the TOP 5 in its class. I like the intro about how he achieved OOBE and how long it took him to do it. When I am having difficulty, I know that I'm not the only one. His OOBE's are interesting and almost inspiring especially his spiritual OOBE where he views his past lives. Mr. Buhlman's explanation about the different planes and membranes was somewhat confusing to understand but then maybe it is confusing when you try to map out the out of body existence. The last part of the book present different OOBE techniques which I found very useful. My recommendation? Two thumbs up!!!
Rating: Summary: Interesting and easy Review: The book is easy and interesting to read. The techniques' descriptions are very detailed. I think it is a very good book for beginners. The shortcoming of this book is that it describes basically only one technique, though with some variations. It is based on visualization. It took me about 2 weeks of applying the technique to achieve an OBE (but I had many of them before, so this is not a reliable indication of how good the technique is for beginners). It is basically a passive technique: you do preparation exercises, and hope that while you are asleep an OBE will happen. There is one chapter that describes the author's theory about other dimensions and energies. It is interesting, but I found that it stretches facts in some places, and too subjective. Understanding this theory is not required to have an OBE. Overall, it is worth to read.
Rating: Summary: WOW. Review: Yes, WOW. This is definitely one of the best books (top 3 for sure) out there for people wanting to learn about OBEs. It's not too long, relatively simple, and very easy to read. It's an extremely good mix of personal experience and techniques.
Rating: Summary: One Of The Best!!! Review: While I admire the writings of Robert Monroe immensely I have to admit that he may be a little confusing for beginners, who may not fully understand or appreciate his terminology, or find it a bit dry. Not so with William Buhlman's book, which details not only his fascinating experiences but does something that no other book I've ever read on this subject has done, which is to explain this incredible experience scientifically by drawing comparisons to quantum physics. At first I thought this would be confusing, and perhaps a bit boring, but to my surprise I found it not only insightful, but downright fascinating. Buhlman has a great talent for taking a difficult and hard-to-understand topic and bringing it down to earth. In my opnion, not only the best INSTRUCTIONAL book on the subject, but the best BOOK on the subject. Period!
Rating: Summary: Out-of-Body travel may not be right for everyone Review: I found this book to give good descriptions of both what to expect and what methods you can try. However, be aware that your path in this lifetime may not require conscious-exit astral travel. And for many of us, astral travel is worked out while we sleep. From my own experience, I would like to make you aware that while OBE's on a conscious level are possibile, they may also invite an undesirable element into your home (uninvited beings). That can be disturbing if you find yourself to be hypersensitive to their presence. Then you will need to make it clear to them- with lovingkindness in your heart- that they are not invited and need to leave (simple verbal communication, silent communication, meditation, and playing spiritual music did the trick). If you have a natural tendency towards OBE's and feel that it is part of your path, then this book will provide you with useful information. If you are seeking higher levels of awareness, a living 5th-level light and sound Master may also be beneficial to you. Best wishes to you on your journey.
Rating: Summary: Thrilling journals Review: His accounts of his out-of-body travels really motivate you to begin trying to get out. They were very interesting. His techniques make sense and are pretty easy to practice. Overall the book was worth the price, with the only real setback being that his detailed description of how the universe is composed got a bit boring, but other than that a good book.
Rating: Summary: Incredible!! Review: I have a pile of astral projection books that i have read over the years and this is hands down the best! I think i've had more experiences then most of the authors but william buhlman has over 20 years of experiences! And he explains all the significant things he learned from his experiences about the nature of the universe and life/death. He has kepr a personal journal of his experiences for 20+ years which is what the first 1/3 of the book is. It is a wealth of info and has answers to so many questions i have had. I read the entire book in two nights and on the second night actually had a very brief OBE!!!! His techniques are good and very realisticly explained. This is a great book for beginners or advanced students.
