Summary: The Enchanted Tarot is a complete tarot learning system.
Review: "The Enchanted Tarot" is a complete tarot learning system that is uniquely easy to use, beautiful to look at, and can immediately be put to use offering you guidance in your daily life. The set is easy to use because it has been designed to cut through the decades of obscure, arcane meanings associated with the tarot and concentrates instead of using the tarot as an exercise machine for your imagination, intuition and decision-making abilities. In the book, each card is reproduced in color on its own full page so you can really see all of the details mentioned in the text. On the facing page, The Dream tells you what is going on in the picture, The Awakening tells you what the card means in the context of a tarot reading, and The Enchantment is a gentle ritual to help you fix the meaning of the card in your daily life. The cards are uniquel beautiful because they were done by an award-winning fine artist who is an expert tarot reader. My wife, Amy Zerner, won the prestigious National Endowment for The Arts award for her amazing fabric collage tapestries. They are a visual treat that will delight you the way your favorite children's book did and, we hope, still does. They are a mixture of the wisdom of years and the innocence of youth. Many people who do not even have an interest in the tarot buy The Enchanted Tarot as an art book. The Enchanted Tarot is useful in your daily life because it guides you, step-by-step, through doing your own one card, three card, and eleven card readings. It also has the basic history of the tarot. Everything you need to know has been put in the one tarot book and card set. We've studied for twenty years so you do not have to. Enjoy!

Summary: Disappointing
Review: Admittedly I am a novice, and as such I found the cards themselves to blend one into the other with few distinguishing characteristics. The endless fabric collage themes overwhelmed rather than enhance what should have been salient features of each card. The cards were not even of uniform size, some being a tad shorter than others. The book must be targeted for more advanced users as it gives the novice little insight into the scope of possibilities for each card. The beginner would do far better acquiring a book by Louis or Bunning.

Summary: The best, most beautiful, and gentle tarot in the world!
Review: Amy Zerner is an incredible artist, one of the leading collage artists in the world. She won a National Endowment for the Arts award in the category of Painting, not crafts, for her fabric callages, the only artist in the history of the NEA to do so. Like Salvator Dali, she designed her own tarot deck and you can see by the majority of reviews here that agree with me, this is a most special tarot and one that every tarot reader, student or expert, should own. It is gorgeous and sophisticated and simple all at the same time. And the book is wonderful. This is a tarot book and card set for beginners and intermediate level readers, alike. There's something in it for everyone. Enjoy!

Summary: ENCHANTED TAROT
Review: Even though the book is written well, I was terribly disappointed with Amy Zerner's fabric collage tapestry design. Amy has got colors and elements all mismatched. Some of the cards are confusing to intrepret. It seems Amy was experimenting with her design techniques. I prefer Rider Waithe cards anyday.

The book is otherwise written well, but the readings are very brief and may not suffice for a novice. I wish there were some more effort put into describing the dream and the awakening.

I hope in the next edition Amy sticks to the traditional tarot card designs.

Summary: most positive
Review: I believe that with tarot one must develop a personal connection with the cards, but I think anyone interested in a beautiful and positive deck would love this one! The artwork is tapestry with pastels and sequins and is absolutely beautiful. Every picture is full of symbolism that reflects aspects of the message of each card. I am quickly learning to read the cards instead of relying on the book because it is so easy to understand the message by looking at the visual clues, I have studied 3 decks so far but seen about 50, and this one is the easiest to 'translate'

The book also breaks each card down into three aspects, the 'dream' meaning of the card, which gives a literal description of the card itself and the message reflected. The second aspect is the awakening, which gives plain-spoken advice on how to put the message into action in your life, and the third aspect is the enchantment, with gives little rituals/visualizations one can use to further manifest the card's message.

As for the artwork, it is stunning and positive! Even Death looks jaunty, like he's about to break out in a tap dance routine at any moment. The ten of swords is the card I always turn to, to give me an idea of the energy behind a deck. The ten of swords (Ruin) in this deck is represented by a woman laying down the body of a young girl. It is somber as it should be, but depicts an air of resignation and acceptance. Most 10 of swords give me the heebie jeebies, this one I thin is perfect.

The Book is well worded, the cards have beautiful artwork and positive energy, it is my *very* favorite. I usually have something 'negative' to say in a review in the interest of honesty, but I can't think of anything negative about this one!

Summary: Nice Deck For The Ladies
Review: I bought this set when it first came out and even after all these years, I still have mixed feelings about it. I like it enough to keep it in my collection but that's about it.

To start, the main problem I have with this deck is that it is much too frilly for me to even consider taking it seriously. The cards are loaded with an abundance of froufrou consisting of lace, tapestries, and other more effeminate types of fabrics. This deck was clearly made to appeal to those of the fairer sex and not to us guys. The cards are made from rather heavy and stiff cardstock but they will hold up well. They are also too large to shuffle with ease. Measuring in at nearly 5 1/2" tall and 3" wide, they are much larger than a standard size deck. Cards of this size tend to make handling rather awkward if you're not used to it.

The book is what I found to be the most redeeming about this set, which saves it from a 1 or 2 star rating. It's a hardcover with a simple introduction and then gets right to the meat and potatoes by giving good descriptions of each card. They also include an enchantment, which is basically an accompanying spell to go with each card. There are no reversals but I don't think they're necessary in this set. In the back of the book, a few spreads are given to help you get started.

I don't read with the Enchanted Tarot myself but I have given it as a gift to female friends and I recommend it to my female clients who want a really pretty and feminine deck that has some substance. The set is always well received. However, I do believe most men will be turned off by this deck simply because of its unmasculine appearance.

Summary: Uniquely Designed, but Not For Me
Review: I found the accompanying book to be excellent; however, I was quite put off by the look of the deck itself, and I will only work with decks that have art work that I feel really drawn to. While Amy Zerner's gorgeous tapestries work beautifully with the "Oracle of the Goddess" deck and book, which I also own, I felt the collages of fabric images with the "paste book" look too overbearing for me to effectively use. The cards are large, with a very frilly, lacy Victorian look to them, like old Victorian valentines; I know that many people who own this book and card set love it, so this is just my opinion. I would not discourage anyone from purchasing this item, but just be prepared. If you are a male, it is not likely that you'll be comfortable with this deck.

Summary: This is a very uplifting Tarot Book and deck
Review: I found this to be a more positive and uplifting book and tarot deck than many others that I have seen. It took me quite awhile to find the right deck for me and this was it. The beauty of the tapestry cannot be explained as you must really see it to appreciate it. Even negative aspects do not seem quite as bad when viewed with this deck and book. ENJOY :-)

Summary: Review from a Collector & User of The Tarot
Review: I have a special place in my heart for this deck, though I have used it seldom since '93 or so. This is the First Tarot Deck I ever owned--purchased on October 13, 1990. I believe this is a great Starter Deck and I always had great success with the readings. One particular reading, that I wrote in my journal, was absolutely astonishing and accurate to the tiniest detail.... I love the great hard-back, beautiful book that comes with the deck (complete with attached ribbon bookmark). At the time, I was not interested in the more popular decks and was drawn to this one.... I believe Women and Artistic-minded people will enjoy and treasure this deck. It is a great introduction to the Tarot, and inspired me to write a Poem.

Summary: So great to work with that I wore out the book! (help!)
Review: I have many tarot decks and this one, purchased about 9 years ago, has always been the one I brought out when I wanted a really accurate reading (although I know each person has to get one that's best for him/her). I used it a lot in college and people from all over campus would come to get a reading because it was so accurate (I haven't had the same luck with other decks--again, I know it's a personal thing). The stories that go with the cards make them easy to understand and follow/interpret, and there is so much going on in the pictures you never tire of looking at them. My only complaint is that my book has worn out (thanks to a little help from the dog) and I want to replace it, but I don't need another deck of cards (those are kept in silk and are still in excellent condition). Is there anywhere I can just purchase the book, without the cards? I hope so! I'll check back on this page from time to time in hopes someone can help. :)
