Summary: great resource
Review: This book may not be the last word in wicca but it definately is a good one.

It's a quick read that has a lot of pleasant personal stories and examples which make you feel like the craft is more than just a stringent rigid set of rules.

This book has a slight tendancy to sound as though it's the first and last word in the craft at times but all those points allowed for great conversations and debates in the forums that I frequent.

It definately provokes good and healthy thinking for the beginner and the adept alike.

Summary: Hmmm...not bad, but not brilliant ;-)
Review: Welllll...this was one of the first books I read (er, ok, so I'm not *quite* done with it yet...) and I found it an excellent introduction to Wicca. Not Witchcraft or Paganism, seeing as how it really doesn't mention that much, but for Wicca it was great. Now, being a writer, I really like Silver's writing style...to an extent. Her jokes and minimal swearing keep it real, but at times I just want to scream. I really do think she puts too much emphasis on spellworking, and not enough on the religion (you know...the important part) but the gradual evolution of the Book of Shadows is deserving of applause. I never would have known where to start!
All in all, it is worth a read. Just make sure you suppliment it with a bit of Cunningham, especially, and my all time favourite: Fiona Horne. I find her writing style to be a perfect blend of Silver and Cunningham. Not too kiddy, but not too staunch either. Course, I just adore Fiona... :-)
Good book, but don't rely on it for all your Wiccan needs. Blessings!

Summary: Can't go wrong
Review: I highly recommend this book to all Wiccans. I started with Sliver Ravenwolf's "Teen Witch". No, I am not a teenager, but I am fairly new to the craft. I think anyone interested in finding out what this religion is all about should start with Teen Witch and read all of her other books. "To ride a sliver broomstick", "To light a sacred flame". She is a great author.

Summary: Good for starters
Review: This book is excellent for those just starting out. The writing style is fluid and personable--written as if the reader is a new friend. There are some useful charts that can be transfered into a personal BoS.

Summary: One of Llewellyn's Better "generic" books
Review: I call this a "generic" book because it has Llewellyn's generic recipe for a beginners guide to Wicca. I would highly sugest this to anyone who has never purchased a beginners book. However if you have already have Scott Cunningham's "Wicca: A guide for the Solitary Practitioner" of Raymond Buckland's "Bucklands Complete book of Witchcraft", the only thing this book can offer you is Silver's own way of introducing you to Wicca. Most of the information is the same, only her way of presenting it and those personal stories she shares are different. Although a great book for someone who does not already have one, this is basically like every other "beginners guide" out there...

Blessed Be!

Summary: Loved It!
Review: I love Silver RavenWolf! This is a fabulous introduction to the Craft! Most of come from a similar education background. The book is laid out in a true workbook format, i.e. read the theology first, then do the exercises. Silver's sense of humor is a refreshing departure from the usually terribly serious tone of books on the same subject. Rock on Sister Silver!

Summary: To ride a silver broomstick...
Review: This book is really great for those interested in the wicca relegion. it was a little long but overall it taught me a lot about witchcraft!

Summary: "Wicca 101"?
Review: Ms Ravenwolf has a friendly writing style that is easy and lucid. The beginner will be drawn in and be engaged by it. The more experienced Crafter might be a bit put off. Be absolutely clear: this is a novice's book, and a young novice at that. Still, everyone must begin somewhere and this book is not a bad place to start. Parents can be assured that their teens aren't learning how to hex people.

The methodology is Wiccan, so that might not be what everyone is looking for. (Not all Witches are Wiccans, remember.) This is practical instruction presented in a non-pedantic way - a good beginning that lays the foundation for more serious books later.

Summary: To Ride A Silver Broomstick
Review: This is the best book I`ve read about the craft so far.
Silver is a great writer, who fills her books with lots of funny
stories from her own life and work with the craft, and you realy
fell like you get to know her.
The book has lots of info on craft procedures, especially direc-
ted at the solitary beginner, as I am.
The only minus I could find, was that Silver calls the three primary colours red, green and yellow, when in fact it's red,
BLUE and yellow. But it's such a minor thing, that it doesnt affect the greatnes of the book. I had a lot of fun reading it, and chances are you will too. Blessed be. :-)
