Summary: Silver Broomstick
Review: Ravenwolf, although sometimes a little 'fluffy', actually imparts good sense, asking that the reader question things constantly & reminding them that ultimately, the choice to follow the path of the Craft has to be theirs alone. Also, she's careful to point out that nobody should be forced into something with which they don't feel comfortable or fully understand. She peppers the book with personal experience, relating to the reader on a one-to-one level which has a knack of drawing you in. Yes, sometimes her language is a little 'flowery' (the opening section relating to the Charge of the Goddess in particular), but most of the time she's down to earth & gives sound advice to those who have chosen (or are simply intersted in) the Craft.

Easy to follow & engaging!

Summary: True Garbage
Review: I truly feel sorry for teens or anybody that buy her books. They are such a waste of money and time. Trust me, there are better books than this one and any of Silver Ravenwolf's books. I truly do say that she is a great writer, however, her ethics on teaching wicca and magick made me puke. Yeah!..she'll teach you wicca alright, but, "her wicca"...once again its that "my way or the highway" feeling again. Very sad, if you want true wiccan books there are many to choose from; from other well respected authors that are better. Ravenwolf books i DO NOT RECCOMMEND at all, cause her view points on wicca and magick are just awful.

Summary: Not that bad
Review: Some people dislike this book, but I think it is a pretty good book. I don't agree with everything she says and I think she is a little flaky at times. I still think this is a good book because it explains everything very simply and it walks through different things in a way that keeps you wanting to read more.

All in all I think this book is good but should be read with books from different authors.

Summary: What's the problem??!!
Review: Silver's book was the first exposure I had that something other than christanity existed. I have read her books and Buckland's and others. Many books read like a text book. Do this this way or this is how it should be done. In Silver's book she gives the basics so that you can develope your own relationship with the deity you choose to believe in. At least she doesn't point her finger at me and tell me I can only worship the Goddes her way or then I'm not really doing it. And another important thing her book does is make the reader really ask themselves why they are in this. I see it better to make a person ask that of themselves than to ignore the growing numbers of those who seem to be jioning wicca and paganism for the pure magickal aspect of it. I highly recommend this book on the basis that it will help you to form your own, and not some crammed down your throat, veiw and practice.

Summary: Good for beginners but.....
Review: This book is good for beginners, but I would highly recommend getting a book on the history of Witchcraft, the one I have is called Wiccan Mysteries. It goes into much broader detail of the history of Witchcraft, even though it can read a bit like a text book, it also contains the proper rituals one needs that this book does not. Although I don't feel like RaveWolf is saying "do it this way and despense with the details", I think she is giving a beginner an example of what to go by. Although I too wasn't really happy with the comment about the word "Wiccan".

Summary: Way to Go Silver Ravenwolf
Review: To Ride a silver broomstick is by far one of the best books about witchcraft that I have ever read. It has all the things that a beginning witch should know as well as information that can help witches of ever level wether it is beginning or advanced. to anyone intersted in Wicca. It has all that anyone needs to know including consecrating, charging, psychic abilities, sabats, esbats, finding yrou magical name, and much much more. When I first started wicca, I had no idea what it was, but after reading this book, I am on my way to becoming an advanced witch. I recommend this book to anyone interested in wicca or who practices wicca/witchcraft. I can't wait to read her next books. Thanks a lot Silver Ravenswolf!!

Summary: One of her better books and good for the beginner
Review: I have to admit that some of her books are less than satisfactory but this one is pretty good. This is ment for the beginning student. Her other book To light a Sacred Flame is good but in a lame fashion. I would reccomend both. the To ride a Silver broom Stick for the Novice and The To Light a Sacred Flame for the Intermediate. In this book To Ride A Silver Broomstick she presents the chapters as lessons. She gives good Ritual scripts and outlines so you may write your own. This can be trickey for the beginner. This book is also aimed at the solitary practioner as well. Sometimes it can be hard to find a good teacher so this book can help improvise as one. But the best teacher of all is experience. I have read and worked with this book many years ago and it works! This is a book that I do reccomend for the beginning student in Wicca and Witchcraft. There are important things in this book the the novice student should learn. Also she gives some pretty solid and sound advice on meeting with other witches and webweaving. She also shares some of her experiences as well. This is actually very good for the novice. I have learned from it way back when. The only thing I find shes way off is with the color black. So take the information there with a grain of salt.

Summary: Great Starter Book
Review: This is a great starter book to learn about yourself and the craft , Silver uses her humor and makes this book also fun ,aside from being very educational in wiccan practices. Silver is also a Black Forest Clan member but doesnt push her clans beliefs in this book . Awsome Book

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very helpful, especially for solitaries
Review: I think this book is excellent for beginners, as well as solitary practioners like myself. The information is presented in a comfortable, approachable manner. It's also nice to read a book by an author who has a sense of humor. The recommended books lists at the end of each chapter are very helpful, too.

Please, pay no mind to the rants of "Wiccans" who feel that anything outside of their (narrow) view of Witchcraft is wrong. Read it and judge for yourself.
