Summary: Great for Beginners
Review: This book is excellent for beginners; it is easy to follow and does not go too far in-depth. It gives basic and easy-to follow directions; it even gives suggestions and examples from her own life on how to integrate your new beliefs into your everyday life. If you're just looking for a general-topics book that will help you get started, this is the book for you. This is a great book for beginners like me, but might bore more advanced Witches.

Summary: good book, but not for all
Review: silver's book series (to ride a silver broomstick, to stir a magick cauldren, to light a sacred flame) is very ecclectic and full of personal anecdotes..some people feel talked down at, and some think its like having mama there teaching you how to cook. it really depends on how you like her style. i personally think the second book is more my speed, but hey, its personal tastes. all three books i mentioned, as well as her others have good info in them, its just a question of if you can work with mama silver's style. what may be not so great for you, might be just the thing for your friends. (and isn't that the way wicca works : ) )

Summary: Good for Solitary Beginners
Review: I bought this book shortly after it came out. I didn't know too much about Wicca, but I was curious. I picked it because I liked "text book" format. It allowed me to approach learning about Wicca in the same way I had studied subjects in school. I think the idea of keeping a notebook is smart for anyone learning about uses of tools, what different Dieties represent, and which herbs do what. I do think, at times, she has an attitude of "my way is the right way", but I also think she makes it clear elsewhere that you need to decide what is best for you. It's certainly not the final word on what wicthcraft is, but I think for people interested in practicing as a solitary, it's a good place to start. What it lacks in covering spirituality, find in other books. Follow her reading suggestions and then go beyond that. Read as much as you can about all aspects of Paganism and as a result you will be able to make the best choices for yourself.

Summary: Buffy Syndrome
Review: This book is a poor representation of what the beginner should be reading. It is obviously set up for marketing, the cover and pictures are these beautiful women without a care in the world and obviously control the planets' alignments. The book over simplifies and creates the belief that Wicca is the land of Fairies and Elves and not a serious religion. Shallow, and misguided I find Mrs. Ravenwolf's "guidance" to be that of an ignoramous.

Summary: Eh, I'd rather read Cunningham or the Farrars.
Review: I've had this book for a few years, and just got around to reading it cover to cover. I didn't like it. There was no background info given for anything, no sample rites, nothing. If you follow the book exactly, you'll wind up with a full notebook by the end of it! She wants you to drop everything and write pages of notes all the time! I'll give this small advice for anybody reading this for the first time: Silver is not the end-all be-all of authors here. Take it with a grain of salt. Find the ways that work best for you, and take notes when it feels right to YOU.

Summary: Great book, has the basics, but no spells.
Review: This book is great if you have any questions about Wicca. I am a beginning Wiccan, and I learned a lot from this book! :) A must-read!

Summary: This is an informative, funny beginners book!
Review: This is only one of the books I started out with. Silver made me feel welcome and informed. She filled this book with rich chapters full of beliefs, magick, and how-to's. I would recomend this book to any person's looking to practice or beleive! I found it entertaining and informative for the New Age searcher. GREAT FOR BEGINNER'S!!!

Summary: Excellent book for the begining Pagan. I loved it!
Review: I really enjoyed her soft aproach it made me feel like I was listening to her talk to me. In these times there are many opinions as to what material is best to read. I enjoyed this book because she left paths out of it and focused on the general information a begining pagan would need and more. She helps you get a grasp on the theories and practices of basic paganism. Will buy more of her books!!!!

Summary: Yet another Llewellyn fluff fluff book.
Review: The cover of this book is one of its best features. There is very little attention to the religions and religous ideology behind Witchcraft because that is not what Llewellyn Worldwide (the publisher) wants.

This is flash and fluff, written for the masses the way McDonalds makes hamburgers.
