Rating: Summary: Not Bad For Newbies. Review: I first read books by Silver RavenWolf when I started practing Withcraft and she got me going in the right direction, but that's about it. If you're not new to the craft this book is so-so but for anybody intrested in the Craft this book is pretty good. (and Teen Witch, one that isn't bad for yougish witches ^_^ )
Rating: Summary: Great Wicca Book! Review: Alright, I'll just say it, Silver has really outdone herself! This book is AMAZING! It covers all the topics from sabbats to astral projection, and is a great book altogether. What I especially like about it is that it's not a preachy textbook kind of thing, it's like Silver's right there talking to you. And I was really impressed with Silver's illustrations, those were really great. Allthough I thought the formula for the holy water was rather complicated. And the cover drawing was beautiful, but it seemed to stereotype us Witches as broomstick-flying kind of people, which kind of upset me. Otherwise, I loved the book, and I recommend it to everyone, beginners and Elders alike.
Rating: Summary: A great book Review: I really enjoyed this book. It goes over a lot of issues that you need to know about.
Rating: Summary: Real? Review: Real it is NOT. Fiction it IS. Why not see it for what it was written for? It is entertainment. Not reality. And I doubt the writer would tell you it is fact. It is a book to entertain teens and get them interested in magic but as witches (any real witches) know...real ritual work/magic whether it be solitary or in the circle is not what this book is about. If you're a teen or even probably younger today, you will probably enjoy the read. To batter the writer is useless. She writes what sells. Either buy it for your kid to keep them entertained and away from the real stuff or don't buy it and teach them about real Pagan worship and Ritual Magic.
Rating: Summary: Intellgent, Charming, and Inticing Review: This Book draws me (and other witches) in to it's karmic force field. Only an "outsider" Would cut it down. You must be real to understand it.
Rating: Summary: Good background info for practice Review: I think this was a very good book. And even though she skips to a new subject every few pages, I think that is because she just wanted to give some background about a few things. I also like the suggested reading list.
Rating: Summary: Hey, She tried! Review: OK OK, i really don't want to put this woman down, but this book goes way to fast for the beginer. She also only uses the information that SHE has aquired, what about everything else? This is not Witchcraft 101!
Rating: Summary: Well....the drawings were nice...... Review: This is the kind of book that makes you want to ask the author "How stupid do you think I am?" It seems more like the faith movement in Christianity then Wicca, and she seems to think that the God and the Goddess are just waiting to do her commands. Many of the concepts (astral projection, finding your familiar) are too advanced for beginners, but at the same time, if you know anything about Wicca, parts of this book will be very annoying. This review is not long enough to talk about all the things that were wrong with this book. "The Spiral Dance" by Starhawk and Scott Cunningham's books are signifigantly better reads
Rating: Summary: Not thorough enough Review: In this book, the first I've read by Mrs. RavenWolf, she cover lots of topics. Too bad they are not in depth. She skims by such topics as astral projection and reincarnation and as soon as you are interested, it's off to another subject. Also this is not a good book for anyone new the Craft. It gives a false introduction to Wicca by saying you can create an entire seperate human being to do things for you and that you can "bend" time. Maybe witches in Hollywood can do that but none that I know. A much much better book is Scott Cunningham's "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner"
Rating: Summary: Keep Trying Review: Well I keep trying to find one of these books that make real sense but I think this is another one that insults the intelligence of teens who know anything about witchcraft. I don't think this book is of any use to any one that wants to really know about it.
