Rating: Summary: BS Review: Whoever would even think of picking up this book after actually reding the reviews, must, as well as the author, have very little knowledge of what the word "wicca" even means. Unless your whole outlook on wicca consists of a dictionary definition of wicca, don't read this.
Rating: Summary: Poorly researched, and not written that well either... Review: OK, the section on divination was really good, and I say that as a professional psychic. But the book is sloppily put together, there's even a bunch of glaring typos....and some of the stuff, especially in the section on deities, is just wrong, wrong, wrong. FRIGGA is Odin's wife, NOT Freya...Freya isn't even one of the Aesir, she and her brother Freyr are the Vanir, and the distinction is important. Brigid is NOT a warrior Goddess, but a peacemaker and patron of poetry and healing. I could go on...and on...and on. These aren't just little mistakes that anyone could make (although if you're writing a book you should be held to a higher standard) but stuff that says "I don't really know squat about this, so I'm just pulling something out of my behind." This is what comes of using D.J. Conway as a reference.
Rating: Summary: Witchingly wonderful Review: This book sat on my shelf for a long time while i worked my way down to it...not that i have read it, it is one of my favorites and i wish i had gotten to it sooner in my studies! Covers everything from meditations to dieties to crystals to colors...a complete book for beginners or old withces!
Rating: Summary: yet she does it again Review: she is one of my fairote authors of the craft, because she does stuff her own way. what is so wrong with think with your own brain. this was a great book even though, i did not read until after to stir a magick cauldron.
Rating: Summary: A Must-Have! Review: To Ride a Silver Broomstick is the first book on the Craft I had ever read...informative, enlightening, and very practical. Silver RavenWolf has provided a workbook for the beginner, touching on many aspects of the Craft without getting too indepth in any one area...this is good so the beginner can keep up and get a good overview of what involves the Craft, just the basics here. Her writing style is motherly...guiding you through exercises and offering her been-there done-that advise in a caring, knowledgable manner. Not to mention her sense of humor, which kept me smiling from time to time through the whole read. This book is a must-have! An essential part of my education as a solitary Witch I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn the Craft.
Rating: Summary: Great for Beginners Review: This was the first book i read in my studies of Wicca, now i teach a Wicca101 class and this is our main text.
Rating: Summary: Great for Beginers Review: After a long long period of non-practicing I picked up this book as a means to refresh my mind. I think this book is great for beginers, other books should be read as well. Scott Cunningham has many great books for beginers too.
Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL!! way for people to start their life in the craft Review: I have read a lot on Wicca, and Silver is one of the best to learn from!!! She has helped me understand the craft, without it sounding too cold. There are meany ways to love the earth, and she has made it even more fun! Read the book, and learn, after all thats what we are all after, knowledge.
Rating: Summary: This is a great book for information on modern witchcraft. Review: "To Ride a Silverbroomstick" gives step by step information to anyone who is interested in witchcraft as a religion. I found the way Silver Ravenwolf teaches is down to earth and very helpful. She is a smart lady who can make the most confusing aspect of a religion seem easy as pie. If you are just curius about witchcraft this is an excellent book.
