Rating: Summary: To Ride A Silver Broomstick - A great source for beginners Review: This book is a must have for beginners in the Craft. The info and resources are numerous. The book is easily understood and is done in a sequential manner, helping you to build a solid foundation for becoming a solitary practitioner.
Rating: Summary: good points bad points Review: i found this book extremely interestiing and fun to read, though i found many mistakes in there too, like brighid being a warrior goddess i always thought she was a poetry, healing, and smithcraft goddess and ravenwolf did cover alot of ground but she never stayed on the subject for very long. her book to light a sacred flame is much better. this really isnt a bad or good book its just alright
Rating: Summary: Slow way to get started Review: This was my first book getting started in the Craft. A lot of information was helpful, but a lot wasn't. This book is great if you want background material and rules, but if you want to get down to business and try some spells, this is not for you. I like the way that the book is straightforward, it gives a comfortable feeling, yet some say it's great for beginners...I found it wasn't simply because Ravenwolf speaks as if you already know you want to be serious and acts as though you have already planned to devote your whole life to the religion. For many beginners this is not the case. Yet, all in all the book was pretty good. Blessed Be.
Rating: Summary: the best book I ever read! Review: I read other books by alot of artists but this is really cool! And I would tell you to buy this bok even if your old or new to the craft, buy it!
Rating: Summary: People need to know Review: Still, people need to know who writes the books they enjoy so much. Even though Raymond Buckland and his wife Tara Buckland has written some stuff that not everyone agrees with...at least they used their own name. I for one have read so many of these kinds of fantasy books because I believed in the beginning that all the stuff concocted in them were valid only to advance and become educated in Paganism enough to wonder if these are written by Pagans or by non Paganisms wanting to make a dollar. Well witches don't give out their true witch name so it makes me wonder why this book doesn't sound more real. There's enough wishy washy cutesie smootisie information on the Craft around already in order to make it silly. I don't think the Pagan community really needs another one and as to the writers of these things...People need to know! No offense but anyone can make up the stuff that's in here and if they can get a publisher then they can get a book out. It's not that complicated.
Rating: Summary: A great starter Book Review: For ages i hunted for a book that explained wicca in a easier sense, one that gave diverse meaning to more than just words on paper. Its a great book to start you out on, i found it easy to understand and the exercises were great.A MUST READ I MUST SAY.
Rating: Summary: Don't judge a book by its cover Review: This book, apart from it ridicolous cover, is one of the best written books for beginners I've ever came across; Silver is a great writer, I've enjoed this and TO STIR A MAGIC CAULDRON a lot; good for beginners but for those who are a bit ahead, too.
Rating: Summary: Whether you're new or not...READ IT Review: As a practictioner of Wicca, i've found it extremely hard to find a book that is not only instructional, but accessible as well. Silvers books have a great setup...the format is clear, the excercises make sense, and she doesn't tell you "this is the way it is", she makes you think about how you feel and what you think of what she's presenting. It makes an incredible reference guide as well. I picked it up for the first time 6 years ago, and i still check back for reference today. Blessed Be!
Rating: Summary: Thank the Gods and Goddesses Review: I once was stumbling blindly through a maze that was darker than the despair I felt. This book was the light that I followed to safety. This showed me the path that I had been looking for without even knowing it. I believe that everyone should read this book, wheither they want to follow the craft or not. Blessed Be Wolf Dreamer (aka Emily Sullivan)
Rating: Summary: Fabulous for Newcomers to Wicca Review: I thank the Goddess I found this book. It helped me to understand the path I've chosen after many years of soul-searching. I'm sure there are more detailed books out there, but in conjunction with Cunningham's "Wicca for the Solitary Practicioner", I have come to a much clearer understanding of where I've chosen to go in this life. VERY much recommended for anyone who's new to Wicca.
