Summary: Excellent source for begginners
Review: When I was just begging to study the true concepts of The Craft, I choose to read this book. It was an excellent choice. It covers everything you need to know about The craft and the many differents paths. I would recommend it to anyone.

Summary: this book is o.k.
Review: This book is a good to get an idea of what wicca is these days. She has taken the religion and adapted it to her lifestyle. That is not my idea of what I think religion is for. You grow into the religion, the religion doesn't grow into you otherwise it isn't the true religon. I have read many books by Scott Cunningham and Raymond Bukland and I have found this book to be a beginners book for the younger reader. If you want a more an adult and informative book on this subject I highly suggest to read a book, any book, by Raymond Buckland. He will give a more serious look at what her book was trying to get across. Overall this book is good for teenagers looking for a good path to walk on and want to dabble in wicca. It was an enjoyable book, though, and deserves some credit. Other than that, if your looking for deeper substance, shop else where.

Summary: The Language of "Broomstick"
Review: This book has absolutely TONS of information as well as very practical exercises for those who want to jump in and get their hands dirty with actual witchcraft. I must admit, however, that I find Ravenwolf's writing sometimes condescending to the reader. It is very much "down-to-earth", which is always helpful, but perhaps the writing style is just a bit too casual for my taste. If you don't mind the writing style, however, and want to dive into some practical wicca, then this book is for you.

Summary: A Wonderful Beginner's Wicca Book
Review: This was the very first book I ever read on Wicca, and Siver Ravenwolf's personality was probably got me hooked on the book. What she wrote about got me hooked on the subject.

Silver has a great sense of humor, and her anecdotes lend themselves well to the subjects at hand. No, she doesn't go into a lot of depth in each subject area, but she gives an excellent overview of Wicca, the different ideas that it encompasses, and the different ways one can go about learning.

I do find myself referring back to this book, even after about four years of practice. One cannot become an expert in all areas at once; you have to start somewhere. I think she has given us a great reference tool and jumping-off point. She allows for much creativity and freedom in the methods employed for practice, which is one reason I was disappointed in Ray Buckland's Complete Book of Witchcraft. Although the latter is very detailed, I felt it was too strictly presented. If you need that kind of structure, I recommend Buckland's book. Otherwise, for a more free-spirited and lightly presented text that offers a comprehensive overview geared towards a solitary practitioner, Silver is the way to go.

Summary: This book is greattttt!
Review: I am a beginner in Wicca and when I read this book it helped me understand the religion and myself better. For years I have been so spiratually confused. After reading this book I knew I was on the right path. I would recomend this book to anybody considering Wicca as a way of life.

I also recomend To Stir A Magick Cauldron and To Light a Sacred Flame by Silver Raven Wolf.

Summary: Great Job,..Silver!
Review: I really love this book, the chapters are easy to follow and after each one is practice and review. Just like when I was in school! Silver really does a great job, helping beginners as well as those who have been wiccan for some time. It is a workbook and a great teaching tool,....so many lessons to learn!

Summary: To Read a Silver Book
Review: I read "To Ride A Silver Broomstick" mainly because of the ongoing debate I'd been hearing about Ravenwolf's books. Frustrated with the conflicting views, I thought it best to read one for myself and form my own opinion. (And I encourage any other curious readers to do the same.)

Personally, I had trouble sustaining interest in the book. I respect Ravenwolf's right to express her opinions and insights regarding the Craft, but the book is not a comprehensive guide and it tends to move very slowly. Moreover, I feel there are other introductory books available that do a better job covering the rudiments.

On the plus side, Ravenwolf has a straight-forward presentation style that may appeal to many beginners, and she works to make the book and its subject accessible to the novice. Furthermore, she provides book lists at the end of each chapter that include some fabulous suggested readings. I also appreciated her candor, even when I didn't agree with her approach.

So...I didn't love it, I didn't loathe it, and I still don't understand the fervor of the debate. My advice? If you're interested, read it with an open mind and form your own opinion.

Summary: GREAT BOOK!
Review: I've been studying Wicca for over 13 years now, and have a large collection of books on the Craft. This book is still one of my favorites, and I still refer to it from time to time. I would definitely recommend this book.

Summary: Strictly for beginners
Review: I am another reader that has mixed feeling about Silver Ravenwolf style of writing. I bought this book about two years ago, when I was just starting off, I thought It was a wonderful source of information. It provides a little history, gives some usefull suggestions on building your book of shadows, and discusses the basics of spell casting and rituals. But a good book to me is something that I want to keep and find myself going back to time after time. This book was not one of them. I attempted to read it again and it was something like trying to read a Childs book as an adult, faintly entertaining, just not at your level. Definitely a beginners book, for those who have yet to seek their own way in the craft.
