Summary: Fluff, total fluff....
Review: I got the impression that this is a money maker. It dilutes some of the most essential aspect of Wicca into nothing.

I've been involved in Wicca for more than 10 years and there are too many books just like this out. I only gave it 1 star because I couldn't select 0 stars.

Summary: A good start to your Witchy library.
Review: This book covers A LOT of topics in a relatively short time period. Each chapter comes complete with assignments from writing a letter describing what you "Think" witchcraft is all the way to re-decorating your house by designing your own sacred space! The book contains a brief overview of the many types of Witchcraft that are practiced today as well as a look at several religious pantheons of the past and present. Of particular usefulness is the thorough list of recommended reading at the end of each chapter. If you want to get a good grounding in the basics this is a good book to have. It's also useful as a quick reference for the more experienced Witch.

Silver's style of writing is very personal and comfortable. I felt like I was reading a letter from an old friend when I started studying this book. Thanks, Silver.

Summary: Simply the best
Review: This book hs helped me more than anything else I have read (online or in books). It is simply the best book for beginners that I can think of and I reccomend this book to anyone who wants to seriously learn about the Craft. The style of her writing makes the book incredibly easy to read and informal and her writing is very interactive. An awesome book to anyone's collection

Summary: This book SUCKS.
Review: The book is horrible, along with all of her other ones. It's completely unrealistic and she just wrote it to make money. I can't believe I wasted my time on this.

Summary: To Ride a Fluffy Bunny
Review: $ilver Ravenwolf is called the Queen of the Fluffy Bunnies, and those who love her do not understand that title. This book alone should describe what that means, but only if one is willing to read more that what was written by $ilver. If you need an introductory book, read Bucklands Big Blue Book. Those ready for more advanced work should read Gerald Gardner, and those ready for history and theology should read Raven Grimassi.

Wicca is a religion that embraces the cycle of nature. Life is part of that cycle, and so is death. The Goal of the Witch is to achieve balance with nature. It is no mystery to a Witch that when we are born we are covered with blood, a vital fluid of life. Wicca is also a religion that is trying to gain genuine recognition as a valid religion, practiced by a variety of people of all ages and walks of life, not just teenagers who think that magick is making a wish on your lucky quartz crystal.

On the other hand, you can sanitize and sugar coat the religion, take out anything that could possibly offend anyone, pretend that we are all sweetness and light instead of people with good and bad combined, and you would have $ilver Broomstick. That is why anyone who is initiated in a coven and has done actual work on their faith finds $ilver Ravenwolf both insulting and an impediment.

Traditionalists may criticize Z Budapest and Starhawk for their views, but not for their knowledge or teaching skills. Many debate whether the Farrars broke oaths when they wrote their books, but none dispute the genuine value of their books. $ilver, alas, has none of those redeeming qualities that even the pariahs of wicca posess. Her version of Wicca is to pretend that there is nothing bad in the world and that all witches are sweet and nice people who never do anything wrong because it is a sweet and nice religion with nothing even remotely resembling anything that might be considered dark. That leaves nothing but cuteness without substance, much like a Fluffy Bunny.

Summary: Mama Silver spreads the Wiccan word
Review: Anyone seeking to look into Wicca should pick up this book. It takes you step by step through the Craft, in which there is no devil. A tip though: Pick up "Teen Witch" first for a good starting off point. Silver will never steer you wrong.

Summary: highly recommended
Review: this was one of the first books i have read on witchcraft, and i've found it very informative. it includes all the 101 info you need, spells, ritual info, and other useful tips. one thing i really like about this book is that she includes projects for you to work on while you read the book (this is done more so in her second book of the series, to stir a magick cauldron). her writing style is warm and caring, and is sprinkled with humor. i would recommend reading to stir to complement this book. blessed be

Summary: To Ride a Silver Broomstick
Review: Ravenwolf has put together a wonderful book for the curious and the solitary witch alike. She has covered every detail from basic "witch supplies" needed for spells to the Sabats. Also included are her personal drawings that introduce each chapter beautifully.

This book is more like being in school with a really great teacher. And yes, that means homework too! This, I believe, appeals to people that find the "hands-on" approach makes it easier to learn.

I bought this book years ago and still keep it close by for quick references. The "homework" is still kept to look back on. To remind myself that we all start from basically the same point when trying and learning anything new.

I would highly recommend this book to those thinking about venturing into a whole new world; and a new way of seeing (and dealing with)things. Also for those just curious about those things that "They" say about witchs/pagans; and judge for them selves. But I do recommend that they at least READ the book. After all, you can't judge anything by its cover!

Sincerely, ~~Branwens

Summary: Please read
Review: Ok, I haven't sat down and read any of her books, but the ones I have flipped through seemed very informative. However, I only rated 4 stars because I know there are untruths as well. The only true way to decide if you like the book is to go out and flip through it at a bookstore...fresh air won't kill you. Now, I just want to address some comments on earlier reviews (not necessarily from this book, but I will post it on the other relevant books later):

No, this is not fiction. It is belief. Wicca, pagan, and Neo-pagan...plus more names, are all the same. I myself am a practitioner but not of the actual religeon, that makes me a sorcerer/sorceress. A warlock is an oathbreaker, and a witch is anyone who follows these paths. Wizard/Mage/etc have mostly to do with how you channel energy and what you use it for.

Not everyone does everything the same way, but that is no reason to totally put anything down. I'd suggest testing, but carefully, until you find what works best for you.

So what if she has a hunting spell? I'll be thrice damned to whatever you consider hell if 'Harm none' goes for everyone. It doesn't, and if you want to be an extremist, go die...you can't survive without harming anything that has a spirit. Best to ask for permission is all.

How do you know 'Silver Ravenwolf' ISN'T her real name, hmmm?

Anything more you want to hear me say, email me about...'tis all from me for now.
