Summary: Wondrous simplicity and clarity
Review: Pema Chodron is a wonderful teacher, who shares time honored techniques of breathing in suffering and anger and breathing out compassion and love in a way that is so guileless and disarming that it is almost guaranteed to touch your heart.

This book works on many levels... I am not a 'serious practitioner,' by any means, but someone who goes to work every day and has to deal with many frustrations and stresses, but this book offers practical methods that help you deal with just these impediments in your life, so that you can be happier, and give more happiness to others.

I also sense that for someone who is more dedicated to making their life centered on spiritual practice, this book is a foundation for such a disciplined path as well.

Summary: 5 Stars Plus! This book changed my life!
Review: Pema Chodron's writing style is brilliant, straightforward, conversation, easy, warm. & in this book writing in that style she gives so many great teachings that will make your life easier. She teaches meditations, Buddhist philosophies, & lessons she's learned from her own experience. One thing she talk about a lot is lightening up. It seems simple, but she means it. This is a great book to learn about a good life from. She's one of the best writers we have in eastern thought. Breathe in the dark & heavy, breathe out bright & airy --

Summary: Terrific way to restart your life
Review: This book changed many of my perspectives on life. Ms. Chodron teaches a simple method to handle daily up and downs along with the really tough situations. If you've always been waiting for everything to be just right before starting a spiritual practice/meditation, etc, but have never gotten to that perfect place, this is the book for you

Summary: Clarity, Insight, & Humor
Review: This book is bound to become a classic! One of the Buddhist practices, called The Seven Points of Training the Mind, is very complex and is comprised of over 50 "slogans" or "proverbs" to live by. In this book, Pema Chodron ingeniously weaves all of them into the contents with caring, humor, and inspired examples of how these slogans 'work' in our every day lives. Throughout, the goal is always tonglen, a special meditative practice that can be done in formal practice or while walking, at work or with the family. This book is insightful, practical wisdom for today's world to expand into lovingkindness ... individual by individual.

Summary: Enlightenment in One's Grasp !!!
Review: This book needs to have little said about it, in that it basically does the talking for itself. A truely spiritual book from an enlightened individual. A must for all Buddhist's and non-Buddhist's alike.

Summary: Enlightenment in One's Grasp !!!
Review: This book takes a lay person through a wonderful journey of ones self. It enlightens one to unlock your own compassion that is trapped beneath this wonderfully crazy exterior we show everyone. This book will teach you how to live NOW. It will teach you how to separate yourself from anger. The book instructs you on a few basic types of meditation and how to change the way you react to everything. Most of all, it awakens a part of you that you may have never have known. This is my favorite book. I highly recommend it to everyone regardless of your religious views, the teachings in this book are valid for all of us as humans.
