Summary: feminist fantasy gone craz\y
Review: This bizarre book makes wind claims about the existnece of peaceful, matriarchal societies which are entirely unsubstantiated, there is no evidence that there ever were any such societies, it is a totally improbable idea. The reasons why men are, and have been the dominant esex for most of human history are quite simple. they are bigger, stronger, faster, and they don't get pregnant. These are inbuilt biological advantages, bestowed by nature. Civilisation can correct them to a certain extent, but Sjoo and Mor don't seem mto like civilisation much either, too 'patriarchal' for them. they also make the same old mistake of assuming that because a society worhsipped goddesses, that made them matriarchial. This is rubbish, you only have to look at present-day goddess-worshipping societies to see what nonsense this is. Is India a matriarchal society? I don't think so. Nor is it true that all goddesses are associated with the moon, there are plenty of sun goddesses in world mythology, and moon gods. They seem to dissaprove of modern technology, but whom has it benefitted if not women, I should like to know. They'd rather have a society with a high rate of infant mortality and women dying in childbirth, would they? No plumbing, no electricity, no refrigeration, no washing machines etc. Sooner them than me. This book really is a load of complete twaddle. A woman-led society would be most unlikely to be peaceful, in any case, women who get into positions of power are generally as pushy and belligerent as any man can be. the fantasy that women are nicer than men is not shared by any woman who ever attended a girls-only school(me, for instance). Do not take any notice of this idiotic book.

Review: This book contains strong feminist perspective. It is a must for those following or learning about an earth based religion. This book shows another facet of the Goddess.

Summary: Simply Required Reading By All!
Review: This book has forever changed my life and how I regard patriarchal religion in general. It is a must-read for all, especially high school women and men - especially the men. We as women and mothers, must re-teach our young men about the "herstory" of our planet, and as soon as possible. As put by Ellie in the film "Contact" - "No words . . ." This book must simply be read by everyone. If you can afford it, buy a copy for your mother, father, husband, wife, daughter, son, friend! And to all and everyone - Blessed Be. . .

Review: This book was increadibly mind-blowing to me. One of those books that comes along once in a rare while to completely sweep away firmly established thought patterns. It also synthesized thoughts and theories I had had. Must read!!!

Summary: Don't read if you are not prepared to be angry
Review: This has been a very important book for me. I am a "middle aged" woman in an introspective phase, after a lifetime of Athena type activity. It does do some male bashing and I'm sure all that is presented is not accurate. However, the authors use enough facts that I know to be true and present them in a manner which results in multiple "Aha's" when reading. It will make you angry at the thousands of years we have wasted in non-evolution. I would also recommend any books by Clarissa Estes and Jean Bolen to any woman or any man interested in knowing woman.

Summary: Great book, bad science.
Review: This is a great book based on faulty science. No one really knows what happened in prehistory yet the author has inferred alot from a few relics. The book is good reading because is nevertheless believable. Patriarchy runs the world and not very well so we long for a mystical Avalon. Enjoy the book but only as a fairy tale with a good moral.
