Summary: Excellent for teaching prayer in a small group
Review: I have used this book for seven years now in many small groups. I tell participants that what we will do is learn a simple way to pray. And the material presented certainly does that, but so much more! We convenant to do two things: 1.) to spend 15 minutes a day in prayer using the material provided; 2) to meet weekly for 45 minutes for nine months to pray together and to talk about our time spent with God the previous week, and encourage one another for the upcoming week.

So, Link's material is teaching us a simple way to pray and support one another, but at the same time he is leading us through Ignatius' process for coming to terms with the meaning of our life through the eyes of faith in Jesus Christ, and urging us to make a meaningful commitment to Jesus and service in his kingdom.

The meditational material follows the Liturgical year and the life of our Lord. It can be helpful to begin the meetings in late Summer or early Fall so that the weeks of prayer fall correctly during Christmas, Lent and Easter.

I should add that I have used this book to assist many individual Christians in their prayer lives also, without the group meetings. Typically, I will meet with them individually a half an hour each week for conversation on their progress.

I've seen this book bless many people. I should add that I am Lutheran and the material has occasional references to Catholic spirituality which feel a bit jarring to some Lutheran ears, but nothing which prevents our wholehearted use of the material.
