Rating: Summary: Sadly I must disagree Review: Sadly, this book has a number of inaccuracies and is poorly researched. It is obvious that the Ferrars rely to heavily on Robert Graves and his mythological theories, many of which have been debunked by better scholarship. The rituals were bordering on insulting, especially the Greek ones. It is obvious that they have never read a book on greek religion. Additionally, they tend to be very heavy-handed on the opinion, and not as interested in fact as one would expect from the Ferrars. If you want books on myth, please pass this one up.
Rating: Summary: Essential For Every Goddess Follower Review: Straightforward, fact-based, packed with information. This book sorts out the fact from the fiction in relation to the Wiccan Belief System. I loved the huge catalog of Goddesses from diverse cultures, and I also liked that this book wasn't full of fluff and pseudo-spellmaking drivel. Really, every beginning witch should read this. The Farrars put this together very well, and they know their topic inside-out!
Rating: Summary: A wonderful resource Review: This book has it all, the history of well know Goddesses and an encyclopedia of many Goddesses even those not well known in Western culture. It also goes into some Ritual aspects with the Goddesses listed. I love it!
Rating: Summary: Interesting! Review: This book is packed...and i mean truly packed with info. Yes!, it doesnt have all the Goddesses, however, Farrar/Farrar points are on the right track and you get the full idea in what they are talking about. A book i truly recommend to every wiccan/pagan.
Rating: Summary: Excellent resource Review: This book should be on every Witch's shelf. Not only do the Farrars do an in-depth study of the many faces of the Goddess and the archetypes, but also a corresponding ritual for each. Also included is a glossary of many Goddesses for different pantheons. Well worth the money
Rating: Summary: This was a very good book Review: This book was extremely well put-together. The listing in the back of the Goddesses was very useful and well done, and the different rituals for various goddesses were fun. :)I didn't like that the authors repeatedly referred to their other books to more fully explain their points, citing pages to read for a complete explanation, which left a feeling of not knowing exactly what they were trying to say at times, but it was still very helpful and informative.
Rating: Summary: BUY THE BOOK!! Review: This has to be the most excellent book I have ever read concerning Our Lady, the Goddess. I mean, WOW. A fluff-free, information packed guide to better understanding the feminine principal of divinity...don't forget to get "The Witches' God" as well!
Rating: Summary: interesting and informative Review: This is a great way to become more aware of the Goddesses and is different than any other I have read. The rituals in it are also good.
Rating: Summary: plenty of information Review: This is a valuable book for wiccan people, although it is better with its God counterpart. After the chapters that review the different aspects of the Goddess (for example, nature, mother, huntress, virgin, etc) there is a very complete list of names for Her, with a note on its origin and a description.
Rating: Summary: A great book on goddesses! Review: Where else can you find such detailed information of the different aspects of the goddess? I you want to know your goddess this is the book you need.
