Summary: Very good sun sign astrology
Review: This book is well written and easily accessible to non-astrologers. The author considers the influences of current planetary positions for the year 2004 as they affect the position of the sun when you were born. A nice feature is her inclusion of solar and lunar eclipses which have a major impact on the course of events. Most sun sign forecasts omit eclipses from their interpretations. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in a general forecast for the year. A couple minor criticisms: 1) The book could use a good text editor. There are several typos and inaccuracies in dates, which appear to be mere oversights that should have been easily corrected. Barnes & Noble publishers should hire an editor familiar with astrology for the 2005 edition. 2) The author tends to minimize the stressful aspects and accentuate the positive. My own preference is a tell-it-like-it-is style. 3) A glaring omission is the occulation of Venus on June 8, 2004. This inferior conjunction of Venus with the Sun, during which Venus appears as a little black spot crossing the lower third of the sun, is a rare event. The last time it occurred was in 1882. Inferior conjunctions of Venus (the negative side of Venus) generally correlate with very troubling times. For example, in US history an inferior sun/Venus conjunction correlated with the Watergate scandal, the Branch Dividian conflagration in Waco Texas, and the news about the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal. Bruce Scofield has an excellent article about this at this site www.onereed.com. The 2004 occultation occurs at 17 degrees of Gemini. This is near the USA natal Mars (god of war), heralding scandal and bad times in our occupation of Iraq. Scandal and challenges to authority seem to be hallmarks of this aspect. The breaking prisoner abuse/torture scandal in Iraq is one manifestation. In personal charts, people who were born near the following dates will most feel the effects of this occultation during the period from May through July of 2004: those born within about five days of June 8, September 9, December 9, and March 8. People born around these times should make sure they have plenty of supports and resources in reserve to weather some trying times.
