Review: Nearly every demon of significance is included in this magnificent book. Some might complain that the book is not worth the time seeing as how the descriptions only average about a page and a half; but I argue that this book is simply a starting point. If this book wets your appetite for things demonic, as it did for me, then you will find the six page bibliography quite helpful (and interesting!). The demons are all neatly categorized into six sections. They are as follows. 1. Water
2. Mountain
3. Forest
4. Desert
5. Domicile
6. Psyche The writing is clear and precise, but not boring. I very much suggest this book to anyone with an interest in the subject. But do note that this is a book of demonology--not demonolatry. If you're looking for books on demonolatry go check the New Age section.

Summary: Could have been better
Review: Ok, first the pro's of this books, it has a lot of demons and beasts and whatnot, classified by the place where you could find them (woods, water, house, psyche, etc.), folklore (tales related to the demons).
Bad? Well not really bad, but they could have picked up some more interesting demons and spirits, the descriptions are sometimes too short or too vague. Anyway, I was expecting more of this book.

Review: Thanks for your reviews of our book,"A Field Guide to Demons, Fairies, Fallen Angels, and Other Subversive Spirits." This introduction to some of the world's most enchanting, weird and powerful spirits is intended to observe them in action in their natural habitats. Rather than separate the species by religious tradition, ethnicity, national boundaries or time, we opted to place them side-by-side and see how similar their fangs, talons, lore, and bad habits might be when in Forest, Mountain or Domicile anywhere in the history of humankind. We are a mother and daughter team, both writers, who share a love of mythology and who hold graduate degrees in Religious Studies and in Cultural Anthropology respectively. We hope that the readers of this work find these creatures as fabulous and informative as we did. For each entry, there is a "Dispelling and Disarming" section just in case! The universal cure is this: Hold them up to the light and see them for what they are, then show them Love and Compassion and the'll be blown away.

Review: This a great book,it tells about many different types of demons and other creatures. It is also a great way to learn about other people's cultures,however this book will not teach you how to summon them,it only teaches you about them.

Review: This book is a great work from Carol Mack. It presents, in a really easy way to understand, every subversive spirit. A whole lot of pictures to help your imagination. Comprehension of this book is at a 6th grader level. TRUE satanists and pagans should read it.

Summary: Fascinating...
Review: This book is great, for the beginning demoligest, or for someone who is just interested in the subject. It also includes DISAMING AND DISPELLING TENEQUES, which were a great confort. I enjoyed the stories as well. The book is easy-to-read, and gives absolutely no info on summoning demons, only on avoiding them. I was a little creeped out about this book at first, which is why the disarming was a confort. I'm over that now, and I never regret I bought it. All my friends regard me as very well informed about it. You won't regret buying this!

Summary: cool format
Review: This book rocks. I love how it is done like a "field guide." So many times, some books just kind of ramble on from one creature to the next, and they all kind of blend together. Not this one! This is a true reference book with the humorous approach of "what do you do if you were to run into these things? how can you protect yourself?" Though it isn't chic to like pictures as an adult, I must admit I like and need the visual. A flat description of creepy things just doesn't work completely for me. Smart format! A good buy! It would be fun to break this out in the middle of a drinking, intellect fest with a group of friends. Okay, so I'm a nerd... :-)

Summary: Fun with Demons!
Review: This book should be on Buffy's required reading list! :-) It's a great tome for people looking for some humor mixed in with their demonology. At a page or two on each spirit, it doesn't go into a whole lot of depth, but it's a great overview and a good launching platform for more serious research. The whole approach of a field guide that takes the legends at face value (and even recommends warding and dispelling techniques) is a great way to discuss all types of creatures without making pronouncements on which ones are "real". Someone looking for a serious and deep delving into this sort of topic may wish to look elsewhere, but for a high level view of demons in mythology with a dash of humor thrown in, this book can't be topped!
