Summary: A Courageous Analysis of a 'Taboo' Subject
Review: MacDonald does his best to accurately display the causes and effects of anti-Semitism throughout the history of the world. MacDonald does not pain the anti-Semitics of history with rosy colors; nor does he allow a personal and subjective 'anti-anti-Semitic' opinion to interfere with his work (an anomaly in this day and age).
Ignore those who label this work 'anti-Semitic.' You can't so much as say the word 'Jew' without these defaming vultures sweeping down upon you. It is in the best interests of free thought that you ignore these defamations. All of these labels--be they 'anti-Semitic,' or 'sexist,' or 'racist,' or 'homophobic,'--are just pre-packaged smear words used to silence opinions that are too stalwart to be debated.
All in all, it is not surprising that there has existed anti-Semitism throughout the history of Europe, and that such anti-Semitism still exists in Europe and America. The Jews have, for centuries, maintained an astounding amount of wealth and power in proportion to their population. Why this particular group has continued to attain such an unbelievable concentration of power is an enigma to me. However, it is not an enigma that anti-Semitism will result because of this Jewish dominance. Anytime a particular ethnic or religious group (especially when they are a small minority) attains lordship over another ethnic or religious group, conflict will ensue. History has taught us that much.

Review: Much as I value freedom, the freedom to allow thinly veiled intellectualised racism-such as this book- should not be allowed. Milton friedman argued that capitalist freedom prevents the persecution of minorities, these books make me wonder.America seems to me to be the most racist country in the world, I'm thankfull not to be part of it: on the evidence of these American books.

Summary: A controversial, yet interesting book
Review: Our world would be a much better place if more people, of whatever ethnicity, race, or religious orientation they belong to, adopted the philosophy of libertarianism, as in leave everyone else the hell alone. MacDonald is just a tad deluded, though, because many many Jews marry non-Jews. So much for the separatism theory!

Summary: A Well-Researched Obsession
Review: Prof. Kevin Macdonald did a thorough job of researching the Jewish condition and Antisemitism in the last 4,000 years. His scholarly conclusion is that Judaism and Western society are incompatible. He is not the first to say so, and among many others, Dr. Theodor Herzl (another Hungarian Jew) wrote books on the matter. Therefore, I was less than surprised to read that "Zionism raises no special question" (page 264). Thank you, Prof. MacDonald. If I am allowed to comment on the book (Having read Chapter 7 on Jewish rationalization and selfdesception, I do not dare to ask anyone to believe me), I would like to say that the author, like people of all ages obsessed with the Jews, tends greatly to exaggerate Jewish power. For example, he argues that historic demographic changes undergoing the USA (he does not mention Europe, but it is the same) are product of Jewish activity and serve Jewish interest. Halevay! as we say in Hebrew.

Summary: An Academic Cloak for Anti-semitism
Review: The speculations of MacDonald about eugenics among Jews for selecting intelligence or success and thereby raising the intelligence of the group, as well as his book on the influence of Jews on the American scene, and this book continue the theme of ethnic competition and his definition of Judaism as a "survival strategy". I am reminded of Lamarkism as perpetrated in the Soviet Union by Lysenko in which genetic characteristics would be transmitted by the experience of parents rather than by genes (i.e. a blacksmith would pass strength to his son by his own "experience" of strength. I cannot but also think of how it took no less than Pasteur to disprove "spontaneous generation" by physical proofs against the belief that life comes from non-living matter (flies from decaying meat for example). MacDonald overlooks all the simplicities of history, of class structures, and of political context in seeking his "proofs" of Jewish behaviour, eugenics, and the origins of anti-semitism. Rather he would place all of this into some contrived "evolutionary theory" as if it were really possible to usefully study human behaviour of this character from this context. Any student of science knows that the generation time of humans is very slow when compared to most other species, and that the mere three or four thousand years of existence of Jews as a group, and the even shorter timeframe of 2 thousand years of the Christian era is but a fraction second in the evolutionary history of man. Further, every student of science should know that the instrument of measure is critical in measurement and if this is faulty or misunderstood then the entire premise of data collection fails. In this regard, MacDonald himself is the flawed instrument as he has focused on Judaism with his prejudices carefully disguised but certainly not unapparent. He would search for some kind of rationalization to justify anti-semitism as if Jews drew this unto themselves as they struggled to survive against the awesome forces of the church of the Roman Empire. Part of the miracle of their survival was that faith in their God - in that undefinable Yahweh whose name they stopped saying in antiquity out of respect for the deity. MacDonald fails to understand that the cause of the survival of the Jews through the millennia was the strengh of that faith and of the oral and written tradition which exalted the idea of the Ten Commandments. MacDonald provides new feed for racists, for white supremacists, for anti-semites who squirm for justification for their hatred, and MacDonald gives them lots of fuel for that. As another reviewer pointed out, if MacDonald does not recognize his own inherent anti-semitism, then he is akin to the emperor without clothes. Unfortunately, or fortunately, the level of philosophic skill, understanding of science, of logic and of morality will need to be raised to protect the naive from his insidious speculations.

Review: This book is a beautiful example of the dangers that arise fromthe use of "statistics" and pseudo-science to supportillogical racist viewpoints totally lacking in scientific evidence.The author, Kevin MacDonald. is a psychology professor in Long Beach, CA who is obsessed with Jews. If you have read his earlier books, then you know that he believes that Jews have higher IQ's than other ethnic groups, purportedly as a result of a centuries-long eugenics program implemented by the Jews themselves, through encouraging Talmudic scholarship and assisting the biggest geeks in having the most children (I summarize loosely, but that's the gist). In these earlier works, MacDonald showed himself to be right on the same level as that notorious sociobiologist Richard Herrnstein, the author of The Bell Curve, who alarmed America in the 1980's by claiming that IQ test scores "proved" that blacks are genetically inferior to whites. I think it is high time that MacDonald and like-minded racists admitted that IQ scores show nothing ... except an individual's score on an "IQ test." They are meaningless for assessing the relative worth of nations and populations, like the use of certain idealized skull-proportion models by Nazi scientists to determine who was "Aryan." But now, with this book, MacDonald has reached a new nadir. His argument, quite simply, is that the Holocaust (and prior attempts in European history to wipe out or suppress Jews)was a natural result of "the Jews"' attempt to dominate/manipulate Western civilization through various influential political/social movements. This kind of passive-aggressive claptrap, which presumes its conclusion, is for all intents and purposes identical to Adolf Hitler's determination in 1924 that he and his Aryans had to save the world from the Communist conspiracy hatched by "the Jews." Although he knows how to couch his ideas in enough sci-babble to slip them under the radar, MacDonald apparently would have us believe that psychoanalysis and Marxism were Jewish-created movements, simply because Freud (on the one hand), and on the other hand, Karl Marx and Leon Trotsky, were Jews. (By the way, did Soviet Marxism de-Jewify when the Georgian psychopath Josef Stalin supplanted Trotsky as top dog?) From what I've read and heard about Professor MacDonald's life, he hung out with a lot of Jews when he was a kid in school, and became obsessed with Jewish issues. As an academician, he probably thinks that, as a non-Jew, he has been discriminated against by "the Jews" in getting tenure, and so on. He is what my grandmother would call a "Jew-hater," masquerading as a scientist. Earlier this year, MacDonald went to London to testify on behalf of that wacky Holocaust "historian" Irving, who sued an American author for libel because she attacked Irving's claims that the Holocaust only killed about a million Jews. (So what, I guess, Herr Irving?) The British court awarded a multi-million dollar judgment against Irving, which must really...[get to] MacDonald. Of course, there is no such thing as bad press. I hope, however, that even poor non-Jews will be smart enough to see through MacDonald's ludicrously flawed theories. Like all theories, they will compete in the marketplace of ideas. Of course, if MacDonald is right, the totalitarian Jews who invisibly run the world will bury his truth (and him). Oy, if only it were true!
