Rating: Summary: Shafeek Mohammed from India Review: Very good translation and commentary. This translation wasselected by Dharul IFTA of Saudi Goverment for free distribution allover the world with slight modifications. Readers have to remember that no translation can be compared with Orginal Arabic Quran. Arabic Quran's rhythm and beauty is so wonderful that no translator can do justice to it. Quran's unmatched rhythm and beauty is the proof for the divinity of the Quran.Translation is only a means to give a glimpse of the meaning of The Quran to those unfamiliar with Arabic language... END
Rating: Summary: Not what I expected Review: What I wanted was a modern translation of the Qur'an that was easy to read and understand. What I got was a translation full of "thees and thous" that reads from the back to the front, more than a little disconcerting to a non-Muslim. My intention was to attempt to understand the Muslim religion as it truly is, without any politically-correct "spin" put on the text. The fact is, to get the true meaning, one must be able to read the text in the original language, Arabic. My quest for understanding will unfortunately wind up in my rather large "unfinished book" pile.
Rating: Summary: Yusuf Ali does an excellent job of conveying the Message Review: Yusuf Ali has done an excellent job of translating the Holy Qur'an. He has also, and perhaps more importantly, done a wonderful job of helping to explain the text to Westerners through the use of extensive and immensely helpful footnotes. A great book for those seeking to read the Qur'an but who do not have much of a background in the history of the Arabian people or lands.
Rating: Summary: Holy SHiZnit!!!!! Review: [...] Once I was chillin on the block wit my homies, you know, up to no good. When this big mofo rolled up and said "yalls is wasting yo life wit this gin and juice Bullsh$#@!" Read some knowledge!! So I skeptically picked up the word and peeped it. Yo I bout flipped my lid!!! Allah don't take no bunk from nobody. When some punk starts steppin to me now i just pick up my koran...and smack him upside the head with it. That book got mad weight! Unfortunately I can only give it 4 stars because it was in another language and I couldn't understand it.
