Summary: Great start for beginners
Review: This is a wonderful book for beginners. I do suggest that you continue your exploration with other books on the subject rather than limit yourself. As for all the negative reviews, it seems to me to be from those who get a little too snobbish and high and mighty about subjects they feel they are "experts" in. Where are the books they've written? Ignore them and use this book and the stones as an introduction and then go from there.

Summary: Could be better, Could have been worse.
Review: If your interested in Runes, this is not an all together bad book. It provides the basic information you will need in order to use Runes, such as the single reading, the 3 way, or the runic cross formation. However, if your a Witch, and I'm assuming you are, then Blum's continuous refernce to christianity is liable to upset you. It most certainly bothered me. I also had a problem with his interpretation of the Runes compared to other information I have come across in my research. Blum's definitions seem overly dark and carry a lot of negativity to their meanings. So, the book does provide SOME good information, but I personally think you would be better off researching the Internet and gathering your Rune info from there, and cross reference the different web pages. I plan on using bits and pieces from Blum's book on the Runes, and combine it with other information I've come across to make it my own before I write about it in my BOS. But, to be honest, had I known then before purchasing his book, compared to what I know now, I would have saved my money and headed straight for the Internet.

Summary: Ancient Wisdom and a Modern Tool
Review: There are many pathways to wisdom and guidance whether for the mundane problems that humanity encounters on a daily basis, or for the spiritual growth that one's soul aspires to achieve throughout the journey of life. Ralph Blum's Book of Runes is a wonderfully clear, concise and eminently useful tool for "tapping into" that spiritual wellspring of information that many seek but few consider for spiritual truths outside of organized religion and other dogmatic approaches to spirituality. The ancient lore presented in this format of Runes has never failed to guide and inspire me to amazing depths of renewal, introspection, and contemplation of my own philosophical strengths for survival in a sometimes dissonant reality. The Runes have provided access to the higher levels of consciousness required for effective problem solving of mundane matters that I may not have ever reached using only the training of my professional education and experiences. Mr. Blum's book has enhanced the usefulness of Runic guidance by making it so accessible to all. Beyond that, the Runes have also contributed to my lifelong devotion to spiritual growth with their inspiring and gentle reminders to focus upon what IS rather than my personal biases or fears that may inhibit the clarity required for effective and productive solutions. More than this, the Runes are as valid for me as any other source or form of spiritual guidance. They offer the perspective of self empowerment and freedom from the dogma of judgement and its ensuing destructive force that can entrap the soul and create an endless cycle of pain and needless suffering. These tiny tools have enhanced my life long devotion to prayer, meditation and have provided a truly objective pathway to enlightenment. I am profoundly grateful for this knowledge and the renewed awareness of diverse pathways to spirituality available to those who are willing to open both heart and mind to the spiritual universe and find the Divine whereever one may travel in body, mind and spirit. To cite the Rune "Mannaz", which is The Self: "In the life of the Spirit, you are always at the beginning". What an inspiring and beautiful affirmation of Life.

Summary: It's Garbage
Review: It's very appealing because it looks nice and comes with a set of (cheap) runes. But, despite his claims to the contrary, the author has little respect for runic tradition, having started by simply inventing a new order for them. It would be better to use a book based on reliable research. There are plenty of great rune books right here on Amazon.

Summary: Original And Best Blum Book ... Runes Are Spiritual Tools
Review: Blum's book is a great read. At a little over 150 pages, it is a small book with a lot of information that is presented well and is easy to follow. There are drawings of each of the 25 runes. Blum suggests using Runes as a method of "guidance and self-counseling." I have been using Rune readings to gain insight to my life for over 6 years now. To the interested reading out there: the way Blum has written the book, Runes are not meant to be a parlor trick ("You will inherit a lot of money...") but rather a spirtual tool. Blum compares our quests to that of the "spiritual warrior". His explanation of the meaning of each rune stone uses expressions like "right action" (how often have we all prayed for the right action to take in a situation? ) and "perseverance" (after all, only through perseverance does one grow...) I highly recommend this book, and using Rune Readings in your daily life. Again, they're not going to predict the future, but they may give you a clue to your present situation.

Review: I've been reading Runes for a few years now, with the help of an older copy of Mr. Blum's book. I like the Runes, because they are faster and easier for me to read than Tarot cards. They are a wonderful source of guidance; priceless in the hands anyone seeking spiritual awareness.

Review: I had the experience of using these Runes and guidebook this past weekend. The writings are well written and easily understood. I am pleased with the quality of the stones and hope to have many years of inspiration from them in the future. I would highly recommend their use.

Review: I use the Book of Runes daily along with the Runes I made from smooth river rocks. The Rune readings in this book compliments Spiritual Truths and gives me a more peaceful and balanced way of traveling through my life. I believe Mr. Blum was truly inspired as he wrote the book and created his first set of Runes.I recommend this book to anyone who is searching for spiritual self knowledge and open minded enough to apply what is revealed in the oracles.
