Summary: the question remains
Review: The author asks God: Who made you?. The answer was: I don't know, but I am God. So God knows everything but he doesn't know how he was made and why!!! So whatever the book says, the problem remains: Is there someone in this universe who is the beginning point and knows everything. And if God gave us pleasures and feelings, like making love, as the author says, he forgot to give us one feeling that could make our lives easier: not getting old and not be afraid of death. Don't expect to feel that you know the unknown questions after you read the book.

Summary: Why would God waste time with such a moron?
Review: This book reminds me of Carlos Casteneda's books. I enjoy Don Juan's wisdom, but why did he choose such an idiot for a pupil? Carlos asks such stupid questions. So too with Neale Walsch. Now I admit I enjoyed Book 1 of CWG despite Neale's goofiness, but I couldn't get further than page 50 with Book 2. I knew I was in trouble from the beginning. At the end of Chap1 God tells Neale that he will show him how to become a Master. Chap2 begins with Neale whining to God about how people think the whole book is written in a long steady flow, how it's been 5 MONTHS since the first chapter was written -- he just couldn't get inspired, he had too many other things to do. Are you kidding me? God Himself tells you he will teach you how to become a Master and it takes 5 MONTHS for you to become inspired enough to pick up a pencil and paper, you're too busy? Give me a break!

The next thing that annoys me about the book is that Neale seems to come to the conclusion that the rest of us are as clueless as he is. He begins to write summaries at the beginning of each chapter about what went on in the previous chapter. "Did I do that good God? Huh? Huh? Are those the highlights from the last chapter? Am I a good boy for doing that?" Jeez!!! Buy some Cliff notes already.

What really bugs me (from the 50 pages I read) is that this book seems to want to rehash the entire first book. Where's the new stuff? Where's God guiding the course of the new book, getting into new territory? It's Book 1 all over again with the same stupid questions. And Neale has the gall at one point to smugly say, "Of course, I already know all this. I just wanted to bring people who haven't read the first book up to speed." Hey Neale, we ARE up to speed. We all read the first book. We already know this stuff too. If somebody decides to dig into Book 2 first and can't keep up, he can go back and buy Book 1 like the rest of us. I didn't spend 20 bucks just to read the same book all over again.

The final straw came after they got into the "Hitler Went to Heaven" controversy again. They covered this topic thoroughly in Book 1 and do it all over again in Book 2, ad nauseum. What got me is when the next chapter starts (and once again Neale does his summary thing) Neale says "Gee whiz God, before we go any further can you clarify a couple of things for me? I know you already explained it, but ... why DID Hitler go to heaven?" For Christ's Sake! I was just praying for God to pull a Sam Kinison on him: "You know, Neale, I'm beginning to think I made a big mistake with you. You appear to be a Complete Freaking Moron who can't seem to grasp a Simple Freaking Concept stated in SIMPLE FREAKING ENGLISH! HITLER WENT TO HEAVEN BECAUSE THERE IS NO OTHER PLACE TO GO! HELL DOES NOT EXIST! THERE IS ONLY HEAVEN! HOW CLEARLY CAN I SAY IT! ARGH! ARRRGGGHHHH!

Oh well. Maybe the whole point of this book is to teach patience. How long can YOU put up with stupidity before you finally say "Enough!"

Summary: I loved this one too
Review: I anxiously read the second book after the first one. I especially enjoyed the treatment of human sexuality as something that was not "dirty" or somehting that only needed to be done to reproduce. I found it a bit amusing that many of the low ratings were from those who seemed to find the book blaspemous or non-Biblical. Yes, it was and it said so. God cannot be contained into one man-made book. Then God only becomes what man says he is instead of being the All. God is in both books and in everything else.

Summary: Not God? Says Who?
Review: It's obvious in the comments from readers that a number of Christians have tried and rejected this book, and CWG 1, too. At the same time, many of them are believing that there is a new move of God coming or already beginning. There certainly is, and unfortunately, He has found the fundamental Church too rigid to use in bringing that move forth. Just like in Jonah's day and Gideon's day, He uses those who are willing. Many Christians would do well to read these volumes with more open minds. They will find that the same God who "wrote" the Bible they so cherish is behind the works of Mr. Walsch. So sad that some will "miss the boat" because they are convinced "God wouldn't work that way"....think again, my brethren. God is speaking.

Summary: How dare does God prefer one sex over another?
Review: I was taking a look at Conversations with God: Book 2, and it seemed like a wonderful sequel to Book 1...until I hit upon Chapter 6. God puts men down blatantly in this chapter like you wouldn't believe. Sorry, but the God that I love treats both sexes as equals. My God loves _all_ creation, not just half of it.

Summary: Conversations with God; A permanent cure for victimhood?
Review: Book I was given to me for my birthday, by a good friend who had watched me struggle with a delibitating illness. (At a time in my life when I could only barely get through the day, let alone take responsibility for my condition, or perception of it.) As a result it didn't take long, before I put the book down in disgust; I simply couldn't handle the concepts and rejected any suggestions from "well meaning" friends that I should think more positively, in order to improve my condition. "It's o.k. for them to talk" (I would think), "they don't have to cope with the prospect of dying a slow, painful death!" However, almost two years -- and a double bypass -- later, I picked up the Book again......and simply devoured it. I found that some of the things talked about in the Book, such as that the "bad times in your life are there for a purpose" are true. I have learned things from my experience that have dramatically increased the rate of my spiritual growth. Now, looking back, I wouldn't have missed it for the world! Having been a personal counselor for the past 23 years, I have known many of the concepts in the book to be very workable. However, it requires an open mind and a willingness to try them out. I have been doing just that and --for the first time in my life -- I have found peace of mind. HIghly recommended! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you searchers out there.

Summary: The best book I have read so far!
Review: I don't usually read the same book twice, but this one is different. It has really hit home. I can't wait to read Book 3.

Summary: Glad SOMEONE Has God's Number
Review: I'm happy to be able to read a dialogue with God and save myself all those exasperating attempts. I also have begged, whined and scolded God, and talk to him every day....but I get only esoteric generalities about love, no specifics. I only wish Neale weren't quite so thick-headed! I also feel that Walsch is promoting HIMSELF a bit too much. I don't need to see his photo...it's not about him. There are many wonderful and informative books on spirituality available that are more anonymous, whose words carry equal weight. Less Neale, more God, please. And Neale, please forward God my e-mail address. I have more questions!

Summary: WHEW! Book 2 is hard knowledge!
Review: I have started reading CWG Book 1 and I am now taking a look at Book 2. After I flipped through a few pages and read a few passages, I was struck hard with the ideas that were presented! Through Walsch, God's views on politics and sexuality (especially the whole discussion on males) are enough to make any spiritual newcomer shiver. I understand that this book ought to be very good, which is why I'm giving it a 8, but I can't stop having nightmares about it! It isn't the gentle warm embrace that Book 1 was.

Perhaps when I come to grips with my own senses and grow out of my current set of fears, I might be able to accept the ideas in Book 2 with open arms. Until then, I caution potential readers that this book is not for the faint of heart and that it requires a complete upheaval of traditional beliefs.

Summary: For those searching for Who They Really Are or Are Not
Review: CWG Book 1 and 2 has truly spoken to my soul and is causing in me a new awareness of SELF. For those searching for WhoThey Really Are (or are Not) and their purpose on earth, this book will definately make one stop and re-member, re-connect, re-define themselves for the good of all mankind
