Rating: Summary: Spiritualy Uplifting Review: These books are exactly what I've been searching for. Nothing before has ever given me such truth, I am now afraid of nothing, feel I can deal with anything and most of all, have the tools to make the most of this life. For anybody who ever wonders about God, this book is your answer. However, I'd encourage anyone with an open mind to read CWG.
Rating: Summary: An alarming fiction posing as an inspired work. Review: For those of us in Oregon, Neale Donald (aka Bob White, radio persona) is no stranger. We listened to his criticisms for a number of years on the radio. We heard all of what he has written before. There really aren't many new revelations here. I suspect he actually asked questions then listened to some old tapes of his program and wrote down his own words as answers. His words are still as convaluted and circluar as they were before he wrote them down. The frightening thing is that so many are taken in by a doctrine which says there is no wrong and then states that it is wrong to eat meat, to smoke, etc. Neale, (Bob) make up your mind, please.
Rating: Summary: Do we dare being responseble to ourselves...? Review: ...If not, how can we ekspect others to be responseble for us and the world we live in? Be to others the way you want them to be to you, let your dreams of peace, love and harmoni be the dreams of your neighbour. We all seek it, we all want it, we can all DO it and we all KNOW it! The CWG-books have shown me a perfect beginning, namely starting with the perfekt me. The work is to transform the "want to be love" to "be love" and we have the greatst power in the universe helping us doing just that! Thank you Neale Donald Walsh for smashing the truth in my face, for eliminating all futher ekscuses for not beeing aware!
Rating: Summary: One star was the least I was allowed to give this trash? Review: I often read books aloud with my husband and there were momentsreading CWG-1 when I actually started crying. Although in CWG-1"God" didn't stick to a strictly orthodox Judeo-Christianity "He" didn't seem to go overboard throwing it out either.I hurried out and bought not just CWG-2 but CWG-3 as well. Talk about disappointment! It seems everyone's afraid of seeming too puritanical to point it out, but this book is filled with "God's" and Neale's fanatical obsession (that may be redundant, but so is the book) with Sex, Sex, Sex (with a capital 'S'). EVERYTHING seems to revolve around it. It seems that all our problems are caused by our supposedly warped sexual morals. "God" even seems to advocate copulation in front of our children, for Heaven's sake, claiming that THE reason for the supposedly less violent tendencies in less civilized societies is that they do copulate in front of their children! Hey, give me Laura Schlessinger's book on the Ten Commandments any day! She may have made some mistakes in her day but she's trying to help keep others from making them. She isn't justifying her sins by claiming God threw away the Ten Commandments through her!
Rating: Summary: I was very angry with God. Review: I read book I and II and I agree wholeheartedly with the person from South Africa! Since when has a lie created so much venom?! I was angry with God at first in Book I and II. What, no judgement from God? no persecution? no turning his back? I wanted justice over my enemies and others who have done terrible things in the world! Book I and II gave me a new God. He was bigger ang greater God than any God I have ever imagined. He wasn't petty or vengeful or like us in those ways. He was full of love and compassion. An observer of all our ugliness and beauty and still loved US ALL. Book I and II has helped me to love God and feel like He is on my side - and your side too. These CWG books have been a wonderful addition to my life. When I read some of the negative comments from others I imagine that they are the rude people in dept. stores and those reckless people we see if front of us on the highways. God loves you guys too. Books I and II have taught me that by your actions you are defining "who you are". A critic wrote that the answers in the book were too simple. Maybe they really are simple. The CWG books are tools for the future. Can anyone think of a better way to go? Nothing else has worked. The deep ponderings of our most religious don't seem to help us when our daily lives have absolutely nothing to do with their theology.
Rating: Summary: One man's God is another man's Devil... Review: I will start by saying that I loved the first two books in this series. I definitely like Neale's God. Although, I have to admit that many of his concepts go totally against everything I've ever learned about the Christian God, I am lured by his version of "the truth." Satan's messenger perhaps? The Great Trickster at work? Who knows? But, it is damned entertaining to imagine that God is this Liberal! I recommend this book for anyone on that eternal quest for spiritual balance! Allah be with you! did I spell that right? :-)
Rating: Summary: Oh, God Review: As I was reading this book, I really got to wondering if God was really speaking those words. The concepts were so intelligent, and enlightening, that I am in the process of reading it for the third time. I recommend this incredible piece of work to anyone who wants to define, or redefine, their spiritual beliefs.
Rating: Summary: Listen to the dialogue Review: As I was reading this incredible book, I couldn't help wondering if God really was speaking through Walsch. It seemed so true, and I agreed with everything that was spoken. It was an enlightening book that anyone who needs to define their beliefs should read.
Rating: Summary: a new truth always upsets the deaf - is God talking here? Review: I'm amazed at the differences in people's opinions about CWG 1&2. People seem to give a 5/5 and love the books or a 1/5 and hate them (and did anyone else notice how 'ugly' the 'haters' seem in both tone and attitude - such viciousness!). Hello all you critics, did you ever see a lie create such consternation? Mr Walsch, I hope (if you read this) that you can extract the compliment implied by the angry voices rising against you. May the truth portrayed in these books continue to challenge and change the world! Bravo
Rating: Summary: New Age Claptrap Review: It is so depressing to me that the "Conversation with God" books are so popular. This is what religion in America has come to? It is moral relativism at its peak as people flock to these books that take life situations, inject "feel good" euphemisms into all of them, and give God's stamp of approval for everything and anything. Hey, as long as we have self-esteem, everything will be okay!! We in the 90's desperately needed another book to puff up our already bloated focus on ourselves. How can people waste time on this self-absorbed, new age claptrap when there are books by authors like Thomas Merton and Frederick Buechner just waiting to be read? These books take us on a meaningful faith journey with all of its struggles and incongruencies. Unlike "Conversations with God", they are full of the deepest explorations of faith and doctrine and not some self-absorbed guru's trite explanations of some of life's most difficult questions. This book is watered down religion at its absolute worst.
