Summary: It really helps!
Review: The Kane's book "Working on Yourself Doesn't Work" really helped me to get to know myself, and to see how my behaviour effects the way the world shows up around me. The wonderful examples of wisdom are presented in a manner that allows me to actually hear what is being said to me without feeling to defend myself for being the way I am. They give me a welcome opportunity to take an honest look at my life. I recommend the book to everyone, and would be very interested in reading more stories from Ariel and Shya Kane.

Summary: GREAT GREAT GREAT
Review: This is an awesome book! Simple and Inspiring! Page after page - Easy to read! and to me that also means easy to understand, and easy to get, and easy to help you relax and heal! I loved this book. I read it and I feel better over and over again. It helps me get more centered. It helps me have more awareness and live more in the moment - time and time again! It is one the most healing and powerful books about the power of living in the Present and not getting lost in the mind, or the past. It is Easy to read, Powerful yet simple ideas, great stories and images and analogies - That give you back the power in your life; that show you how to be more centered and more alive by living in the present!

Other books I love and recommend are: "Who Moved My Cheese", and "The Power of Now".

Summary: should have been a magazine article
Review: The message here is good, but it could have been put across ina magazine article...[this book] is the first thing I have ever wantedto send back because I do not feel like I have gotten value for my money.

Live in the moment. Big deal! I have no doubt that the Kane's are beautiful people who really do walk their talk and have valuable things to teach- but this book really left me disappointed. Their anecdotal stories are almost annoying and hardly pertinent.

I give this book three stars because it does contain valuable truths- I just don't like the way it was packaged.

I am reading The Four Agreements at the moment and agree with other reviewers that this book is far more profound and thought provoking. Don't waste your money on "Working on Yourself..".

Summary: A Gem of A Book!
Review: The book "Working on Yourself Doesn't Work" by Ariel and Shya Kane has had a major impact on my life and I recommend it to anybody who is looking to improve the quality of their life and is interested in discovering that state of being where satisfaction, self expression, aliveness and meaning reside. "Working on Yourself doesn't work" is a gem among self awareness books. A subtle mixture of ideas and narratives, it delivers, in a very unpretentious way, all the keys to personal transformation and enlightenment. All it takes is to be willing to hear (or read in this case!) that the great way to self realization and satisfaction is in fact "simple" and that self-realization and self-satisfaction are coexistent with our present state of being and are available right here in this moment of now.

Summary: Working On Yourself Doesn't work
Review: I found this book simply delightful! It was truly refreshing. After spending many years working on my self, I found a weight lifted off my shoulders to know, there is another way. What the kanes show you, how to have a magical life and truly how working on yourself doesn't work. Three cheers for the authors

Summary: This is a great book !
Review: This is a book that both enlightened and touched me on many levels. We live in a culture that is either striving towards the future, what is the next goal I need to achieve, or obsessed with the past, what wrongs have been done to me by my family, my culture, my religion, etc. The idea being that either achieving goals, or figuring out why I do the things I do will bring me happiness and self-satisfaction. I've personally tried both approaches and found them lacking. I have set goals and accomplished them. I read books and took seminars to "figure out" why I was the way I was. Neither of these approaches produced any lasting sense of accomplishment. At best all I got was a brief respite from a sense of despair.

The Kanes have a different approach, awareness, being in the moment, is the key. The Kanes define awareness as a non-judgemental seeing of what is. This was a radically different way of looking at things and the effects on my life have been profound. I find that I have become vastly more effective with less effort. My relationships have never been so rewarding and my work is also greatly improved. I've bought copies of this book for my family and many of my friends. I recommended it to them, and I recommend it to you.

Summary: Working on yourself doesn' t work
Review: I had become living proof that "Working on Yourself, Doesn't Work." I had spent years searching for a system, a formula, some paradigm or dogma that would bring me happiness, joy, and freedom. The work was arduous and agonizing. Nothing seemed to feel right or honest. My beliefs were like clothing, changed for the occasions. I was ever fearful of being mistaken or being found out. After reading "Working On Yourself, Doesn't Work" and putting into practice the Kane's technology, I have discovered a reality for myself that has exceeded my wildest fantasies. The most astounding aspect of this discovery is that I needed to do nothing more than be present for my life. I needed to just be me. For this simple insight, with its most profound and far-reaching ramifications, I thank the Kane's and strongly suggest "Working On Yourself, Doesn't Work" to anyone interested in satisfaction. Not the contrived satisfaction of Madison Avenue, but the satisfaction that is felt deep within. It is possible and the Kanes have shown a way.

Summary: Surprise Yourself: Discover Who You Really Are
Review: This book reminds me how wonderful life can be. There are possibilities in every moment that can only be recognized if you're there to see them. And the Kane's book gives practical yet profound insight into how to do that. It touches my heart to know that a world of magical relationships awaits anyone with the good fortune to have come across this book.

If you're wondering if you should buy Working on Yourself Doesn't Work, do it! You won't know what it will mean to you until after you read it and take another look at your life. My life has been full of truly wonderful surprises since I read it for the first time. And, reading it again, while the words are the same, the impact is fresh and new for the person I am in that moment.

Summary: Just what we've needed in Germany!
Review: "Working on Yourself Doesn't Work - could that be ?" I thought the first time I read the title of this book. Friends of mine who are also living in Hamburg, Germany where I am from told me about the Kanes, the workshops and the things happening in their lives from experiencing the principles described in this book. And so I read it with interest- and learned to see clearly what's going on in my life and what a difference there is between deciding (eliminating options) and choosing freely in my life. The three principles of transformation the Kanes describe are so easy they seem almost too good to be true - but they are true. Test them on yourself!

Since I realized that it could be best to enjoy life by staying in the moment and trusting in the possibilities life holds for us I feel much better than before - relaxed, calmer, more satisfied. I hope that other readers will have this feeling too - and maybe will also find their way to stop working on themselves. Because what we are is the best we can be - and aren't we perfect in the way we are? Enjoy reading and then start to be alive!

Summary: Excellent - It really Works!
Review: I really apprecate the style of the Kanes. I had the pleasure of designing the cover of "Working on Yourself, Doesn't Work" and have read it many times. I always discover something new each time I read it. My life simply keeps getting better!

I recently shared the book with some business associates. (I sent gifed wrapped copies from Amazon.com) Everyone appreciated the book so much that during our last businees dinner they couldn't stop talking about it.

One of themes that really touched them was the concept of "being alive" or "being right". We all feel so much more alive since reading the book.

What an amazing gift "Working on Yourself, Doesn't Work" is. I love the impact this book has had. It turned acquaintances into real friends. They have all personnaly thanked me.

I stongly recommend you read it... buy copies for your friends, too! They will Thank You for it!

P.S. I also love their audio tapes "Magical Relationships" and "More Magical Relationships."
