Rating: Summary: Buy this book for beauty Not Content Review: I purchased this book because of my interest in the topic and the beauty of the book. The introduction is complete and interesting. The layout of the book gives the reader ease of use, the topics are extensive, easy to locate with a comprehensive cross reference throughout the book. The beauty of the book is what makes it stand out among similar titles. It is unfortunate that the positive aspects of this book stop there.I have spent extensive time studying the mind from many aspects, everything from a psychological/scientific point of view to a parapsychology/psychic/spiritual point of view. In that I have come to believe that there many truths and all areas should be considered. From my perspective this book seems to carry a negative overtone. Not that Miller's interpretations are all negative, there just seems to be a strong negativity throughout his commentaries. This, I'm concerned, may instill needless fears in those "searching for answers". I strongly believe one truly needs to go with their own personal feelings about their dreams; if their feelings from the dream are negative it represents something negative, and if they are positive it represents something positive. I have read several books on the subject, as well as compared interpretations between authors, in this I found Miller's "views" were much his own and not a general consensus. Not to mention he seems matter a fact in his interpretations leaving no room for personal exploration. That said, there are many other books on the subject which can guide one to their own interpretations while still providing a general meaning to what a dream symbolizes, giving individual value to each interpretation .
Rating: Summary: Divines the future from your dreams! Review: I use this book along with others and also some Jungian theory. I use this one the most. Unlike the other reviewer, I believe this book DOES go with consensus but you have to know how to use it. First of all you have to get the version with the pictures. I've seen the one that is just text and it's badly organized. (Don't know what they were thinking.) To use it, you have to look up each thing you remember from the dream, individually. So far I've used this for myself and others and most people tell me it's been right-on. Keep in mind this was written in the 1800's so the vocabulary and references used are old-fashioned, and he tends toward old biblical platitudes.
Rating: Summary: a great book Review: This book is a great guide for understanding your dreams. I know quite a few people who have this book and it always seems to be right on target with whats going on in my life.
Rating: Summary: a great book Review: This book is largely a reprint of a dream interpretation manuscript written at the turn of the last century (1800-1900). It draws on some archetypal dream imagery that some feel all people share in our collective unconscious. As old as this information is, it is surprisingly, eerily accurate today. Many times I've had some bizarre dream that I couldn't make sense of, only to look up the imagery in this book and see that it described a situation in my life perfectly. For example, I woke up terrified after having dreamt of being in a huge fire. When I read that fire usually means a burst of energy in the form of huge success in business, I was thrilled. I had just switched careers and, yes, things turned out very well, just like the dream portended. I've had to buy this book for a couple of friends just to get them to stop calling me after every time they had a crazy dream!

Rating: Summary: Incomplete Review: This ook leaves out several key pieces of data. First of all, many of the dreams I tired to look up are not included in this book; however, oddities such as "zodiac" and "yield" abound. Most of the dream index is either too general or too specified, and much of it is based on common superstitions which are well known. However, it can be helpful in teaching how to interpret your own dreams by the well written introduction.
Rating: Summary: Need to be a little smarter than the book Review: yes this book is outdated. but it doesnt take more than a little creativity to figure out how to relate it to your modern day life. I was able to interprate every one of my dreams and the book was able to explain exactly what it meant. I would recomend it to anyone who has an imagination.
