Summary: Don't Pass This Book Up
Review: I finished this book in 1 day it was so good. Sylvia Browne has proven to be very accurate and proves all of her finding before she even prints it. Syliva lays down the law in this book and it really is a guide to our world and the othersisde. She gives deep details about how we choose to come back in this world to learn and experience what we have choosen our "Blueprints to hold". She gives the reader a more spiritual understanding of themsleves. I don't want to give away to much before you get a chance to read it but I highly recommend this book over any other I have read by any other author and at this price this is one book you definitely should not pass up. God Bless! PS) The Predictions for the Year 2000-2099 are great and a few of them have already came true!

Summary: Things that make you go hmmm....
Review: Entertaining, thought-provoking, believable(?). I read Sylvia's work with fascination and got what I expected - to rekindle the fire of mysticism. While I enjoyed her book, I felt as though she was anxious to finish writing the book so should could move on to the next. I'd recommend it if you're looking to move out of a constrained way of thinking, but I would be cautious about attempting to gain solace after losing a loved one.

Summary: Simple a review
Review: I bought this book because I have seen Syliva Browne on Montel quite often. I'm glad I did. She covered many topics my friends and I have always discussed. If felt good to actually see the thoughts and feelings I had been experencing for many years now down in print. This book is just one more step on the path to find the truth.

Summary: What DIFFERENCE does it make?
Review: Is Sylvia Browne a Christian?

Unfortunately, there is nothing new under Sylvia's sun. Even though she calls herself a "christian," her religion is pure paganism. Her theology is cotton-candy... It's sticky-sweet, but flimsy and insubstantial. This book is designed to have enormous appeal to people who want to feel warm and fuzzy all the time, but who don't want to think too often or too clearly.

Sylvia Browne rejects "The Holy Bible" as false, but she accepts altenative gospels (The Dead Sea Scrolls) that were discovered during this century. It doesn't seem to occur to Ms. Browne that these "alternative" gospels might have been produced by the same method as her own FALSE predictions: automatic handwriting.

The contents of Sylvia's book could have been taken directly from "The Lost Teachings of Jesus" by Mark and Elizabeth Claire Prophet, in which Jesus is only one "christ" among many, and everyone is his own messiah. The only difference is that Ms Browne says the New Age Messiah will not appear until the END of this century, while the Prophets claim he is already HERE NOW. Simply put, Sylvia et al, insist that the early Church suppressed the ''true" teachings of Jesus for their own political benefit. Therefore, the traditional New Testament is false, and the "true" gospel of Christ is being revealed to mankind for the first time today.

The irony is that in for the last 30 years, Christians have been ridiculed for believing in a New Age "conspiracy." But Ms. Browne is a New Age "Luciferic" theologian, declaring that the last 2000 years of christianity have been an "evil conspiracy." Evidently, there are TWO conspiracies developing side-by-side... So take your pick!

Worst of all, after condemning the "Holy Bible" as false doctrine, she (mis)quotes from it (at least twice) to validate her OWN non-Biblical theology. Why would any rational person quote from "false" doctrine to validate their own?

Sylvia calls herself a "christian" because she is a "follower of Christ." But which Christ? The one who was the messiah, who died for the sins of mankind, and was raised from the dead into eternal life? Or the Christ who was no different than the rest of us, except that he gave "really good advice?"

What difference does it make? Well, if I had a pet dog named Christ, and I were to follow behind him everyday when I take him for a walk, would that make me a "christian" since I am "following Christ?" Of course not.

If you define "monkey" as a metallic vehicle with four rubber tires and an engine that uses gasoline for fuel, then I'm going to drive my "monkey" to work tomorrow. But you probably don't, and I'm certainly not... But THIS is the "logic" that permeates "The Other Side and Back."

Whether you like her or not, Ms. Browne is a Pagan in Lamb's clothing. "KNOW" (Gnosis) what you are getting... BEFORE you pay for this book!

Summary: Oh, HOOEY!
Review: I'll most likely be unable to "say it" any better than the review that directly precedes my own. (JoelMc of TN.) Yet, I feel inclined to try. :)

Sylvia Browne concerns me. Her doctrine and dogma are horribly skewed and anti-Bible. Though she professes Christ to some degree, the swirling imagery she asserts in this book is blatantly the antithesis of all we know about the basic truths put forth by Jesus Himself. If we are to believe Ms. Browne, then we are also to believe in faeries, Lilith of the underworld and other such nonsensical concepts. Though I do not begrudge Ms. Browne her own personal beliefs, as she is entitled to them, I do find fault in her positing of these beliefs and equating them to many of our life's experiences.

Psychic phenomenon (or PSI) is a real, scientific fact, in my opinion. It does not have to carry with it the type of grandiose concepts Ms. Browne hocks in this book. One can have, develop and gift to others the benefits of PSI without subscribing to these really BIZARRE philosophies.

In addition, Ms. Browne's claiming to be a Gnostic is tidy, but anyone who knows anything about Gnosticism as a faith will know right off that her claims are erroneous.

When it comes right down to it, the entire tome smacks of being erroneous. I agree with the previous reviewer, as well, in that Ms. Browne comes off quite smug and authoritative indeed. Not the humble "giver" one would hope and expect of a gifted clairvoyant.

Summary: Warm, fuzzy baloney!
Review: If you liked JRR Tolkien's book about Hobbits, called "There and Back Again," then you may well enjoy "The Other Side and Back" by Sylvia Browne... Because both are "feel-good" books filled with fantasy.

A more accurate title for this book would have been "Trust Me--- I KNOW EVERYTHING!"

The book's message is "We are all God, some of us just VIBRATE FASTER than others."

First of all, just because she's had some success at psychic predictions, doesn't mean she understands the nature of psychic phenomenon. I don't think she knows at all what "psychic energy" is, where it comes from, what it's limitations are, or how to control it. Just because someone is an expert performer on the piano, does not mean they know how a piano works, or how to construct one, or even how to teach others to play. Some of the best performers are the worst teachers, and some of the best teachers are the worst performers.

If you are interested in understanding psychic experiences, the following two books will suffice: "The Sevenfold Journey" by Anodea Judith and Selene Vega, and "The Psychic Energy Workbook," by Miller and Harper. Each of these books explains the nature and development of psychic energy WITHOUT any religious dogma or dependency on "spirit guides." Which leads to my second criticism of the book...

Ms. Browne doesn't know the difference between "teaching" and "preaching." In spite of her charming warmth and benevolent smile, she's actually very self-righteous and condescending toward people with different religious beliefs. With purely arrogant aplomb, she misinterprets and misrepresents the Bible, and pronounces her condemnation upon the last 2000 years of orthodox christianity as "false doctrine." Her discussion of "christian doctrine" is so inaccurate, I don't believe she's ever actually read the Bible. Just because she's made some accurate psychic predictions does not make her an expert theologian... Being psychic does not make one omniscient, and certainly does not qualify her to reveal the "Ultimate Secrets" of the universe. I've had psychic experiences all my life, and my theology is entirely different than hers.

Ms. Brown claims to be a "gnostic christian" meaning that her theology is based on "factual knowledge" (gnosis) rather than mere faith. To the contrary, none of her statements about the supernatural dimension can be "proven" or demonstrated scientifically or objectively, and thus must be accepted by the rest of us purely on faith. Simply put, she doesn't understand the difference between "knowledge" and "belief."

If all you want is a "feel-good" book, this one is filled to the brim with "warm-fuzzies" wrapped in "smug certainties," with just enough mundane facts thrown in to make the fantasy seem plausible. But if you want to LEARN something, spend your money elsewhere.

Summary: Another inspriation
Review: I read this book after reading her newer book (Life on the Other Side) in one day. As I said about her other book, it has given me great inspiration. I am more optimistic about the afterlife, and even some things in this current life, like negativity and death. Modern physics, stories from my family, and books by John Edward and James Van Praagh, and others, all have given me confirmation and validation. This book inspired me to do "research", to go on a "spiritual quest" to find the answers for myself in similar books, science, and scripture. Yes, even modern physics validates what she and others have said. I can't thank her enough for sharing her experiences. I am fascinated and inspired.
